A small montage of the work so far. The next problem to try to figure out is why I cannot see through the glass in the passenger cabin from the outside, but I CAN see through the roof of the cockpit. Heheh, much fun. A nudge in the right direction would be helpful.CheersShad(NOTE) Except for a few items, this is entirely hand painted from my imagination and inspiration from uber-designers.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/122524.jpgThere is nothing quite so lovely as a burled walnut panel.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/122525.jpg

I am making a overhead panel and need to make some gauges. I have a XML gauge for an anti ice but this only does one engine and I would like to make one for engine 2, but sure how to go about this. Is it possible. Would also like to no how to make dummy gauge as I think some of the gauge on the A320 are not supported by FS2002, eg eng 1+2 bleed. Have looked in the panel sdk and can not work it out.

Hi,I am writing a gauge file in C++ that can map the user aircraft location to an AI aircraft. To prevent the user aircraft to fly away between each update, I have to set the user aircraft location on each frame in FS.I have achieved this by using the PANEL_SERVICE_PRE_DRAW callback. The only problem is that the PRE_DRAW callback is only trigged when the panel window is visible.I know about the PRE_UPDATE callback, but this function is trigged about 18 times a secound and do not on each frame. So my question is: How can I make a gauge callback (or event) that can trigger on each frame in FS, even if the panel window is not visible? Thanks for any help!Regards,Arnt Helge Haa…

Hi Gents,Some twin-engine piston airplanes have two vacuum pumps (one in each engine) i.e: default FS9 Douglas DC-3 and Beech Baron.Others have only one pump linked to engine #1 i.e.: De Havilland DH-88 Comet (FS9 default) and the superb Milton's Shupe Beech D18S.Can anybody explain me how to do for have the second vacuum pump in the system? Thanks in advance for any suggestion.Dirk Trotteyn (SANT)

Hello to all those knowledgable in effects files within FS2004.Based on a similar effects file from Marcel Kuhnt's great Islander I would like to create an effects file simlar to a VC light but that does not point downwards, but sideways, slightly up and slightly back. This is to simulate a port wing inspection light that sits in the left upper fuselage shortly in front of the wing and shines at the leading edge. This is necessary in my specific project, a Dornier 128-6, because it has pneumatic de-icing boots that rely on a certain thickness of ice buildup on the wing leading edge before it is advisable to inflate the deicing boots to ensure the ice is blasted off in siz…

I am working on a joint project that tips the scale at 35,000 polys. However, after I compile the project (during which no errors appear), nothing is displayed on the MSFS screen. I compiled the same project in GMAX (I converted the source from GMAX to FSDS) and it does display in MSFS. Since I am more fluent in FSDS 2, I want to complete the project there and the aircraft displays perfectly in FSDS 2's screens. So the question is, does FSDS 2 have an upper poly limit on what can be displayed? If I trim the project below 30,000 polys by deleting some of the parts, the aircraft displays correctly. Thanks,John

HiI found the forum very helpful helpful at explaining how towork on aircraft in FS04.Nevertheless I was not able to find accurate 3-View drawings of any model 23,24 or 25 Learjet (searched the net for days).Does anyone have good drawings or know where to find them?Additional data would be appreciated (only data sources I could find were the type certificate data sheet and a NASA report which contains moment and side force coefficients due to control inputs).e-mail: [email protected]

One of the things that is bugging me is the fact that now that I have raised the eye-position to more roughly match the real aircraft, the panel is being viewd from an above angle. This is not an issue, because it seems that is the way it is in the real AC too. The problem is when flying, the cockpit looks like it ends at the panel (which it does). I realize that from this vantage point I would be seeing part of the windscreen faring and a great deal of the upper nose.So to solve this I thought I would graft the top part of the nose from the exterior model onto the the interior model. The only thing is, I have no idea how to select the parts I need, except one vertex at a…

The captains panel is to high and looks into the sky, the co pilots looks in to the ground. I no you have to alter someting in the panel.cfg, but what. Someone please help.

OK........ maybe it is me, but the SDKs are useless, and I can't get a landing light to light up the tarmac. I get a point of light pointing straight down (though I think I've corrected this now), but that is it. No beam of light actually lighting anything up!!I've made a small box, called it Landing_Light. I have applied a material to said box called "LIGHT_LAND" and given it "self-illumination" and colored it etc. I expoert ther model, and can't at all get to the options page of MakeMDL from within GMax at all - how do you do this?? I'm convinced the all-important "HasLightMap" is the culprit! I'm tearing my hair out now. In addition to this, I have two other lights, po…

Hi guys!I'm new in gauge design, and this is my very first question on this board. I'm currently designing a radio stack, and the target is to tune NAV1 and NAV2 radios using the same knob.I use this code to change the frequency & and they works great!next, I use this to select the radios0 (>K:NAV_RADIO) 0 (>K:SELECT_1) and this also works0 (>K:NAV_RADIO) 0 (>K:SELECT_2) for my purposes, I think I've to write down something like this...bla bla bla... what's the code to be put here??????and, for sure, I need the same for COM radios :>I hope you can help me! (and sorry for my buggy english)Thanks in advanceFede

I just uploaded a little gift to those XML'ers who'd like to be able to toggle WEP on/off. Unfortunately, MS seems to have forgotten to provide an XML key event for this... ;)Usage is drop dead simple, since all that is required is to toggle the L:WEP_Boost,enum variable in your XML mouse routine.I hope someone will enjoy this simple gauge... ;)XML_WEP.zip will be in the File Library tommorow. I've also attached the tiny zip to this message...

Hi,Does anyone have any recommendations for texturing tubes etc.. that want different textures on them?i.e. a fuselage that is a tube in gMax wants to have two seperate sides, a top and a bottom, so decals can be added to either side and not be upside down/reversed if a single texture was wrapped around. The best I can find is to select multiple faces of one side, and map that to a texture file. Is there anything better/quicker than this?Best regards,Vulcan.

  19. Hello everyone,Not sure whether this is the correct section (and please excuse me if it isn't), but I think it contains the right people.OK, I'm a scenery designer by "trade" and have been working on animated ground scenery, including gates and service trucks etc. I am using the NAV2 freq, ADF freq and Transponder code to control my animations. Eg, the ADF frequency controls the rotation of the gate, with a low freq being 0* rotation and a higher freq being say 30* rotation. (can't remember the exact values off the top of my head)The result is that by tuning the NAV2, ADF and setting the transponder code to certain values, I can position the gate exactly to where I want i…

Hi Guys:After a day of trying to place the WX500 Radar in the LDS 767 VC Panel I need some serious help. The problem is that I add-it to the panel.cfg in the VC section with the appropriate coordinates as a reference point for tweaking but it doesn't even show up!Is there a trick for adding gauges to the VC only that differs from adding a gauge to the 2D panel?I am going to use the entire gauge because on the 767 VC pedistal there is a very realistic spot forward of the throttle quad that can house another MFD or Radar, etc.I understand the basics of the x,y, size, mm structure of the gauges in the panel.cfg but I am clueless as to why it won't show up and this should be …

Hi,Maybe already known.Experimenting with some gps codes brought me to a simple solution for data input. When input is enabled, so you can use the rotating knobs or keyboard, it is also possible to use the "fmc" keyboard if you have one or want to make one.Rob showed a list of ascii values concerning the section. When using that values you can press with the mouse on the "fmc-keyboard" and get:A. the correct letter in the scratchpad.B. after 4 or 5 letters the correct ICAO facility codeC. pressing Enter a direct to the typed facility (when AP is on gps) The code is:xx chr (>C:fs9gps:IcaoSearchEnterChar)where xx = value.e.g. A=65B=66etc.Jan"Beatus Ille Procul Negotiis"

Hey people, this is my first post here and I don't know if this issue has been addressed, but...here goes...Lots of people, including myself use MSFS to simulate military aircraft operations. From time to time we have come across some very interesting work regarding this matter. However, we are not able to simulate combat operations. Now, I am not saying that we should find ways to launch missiles in the game. All we need is the brains of you people, to devise a gauge that will SIMULATE a missile lock. The general idea could be that if you keep the enemy aircraft in your HUD for a certain time, in a certain distance, perhaps the HUD would change colour and simultanously a…
