  2. I am getting fairly good with XML, to the point I can do MOST of what I want ( with tons of assistance from the gurus in this room) but I must admit I accomplish too many things with trial and error as opposed to figuring it out beforehand. I have read Arne's treatise on XML as well as Nick Pikes, but there are still things that elude me, and if anyone could give simple explanations with examples I would really appreciate it.First off I am a non programmer teaching myself, so those of you well versed in programming logic have to forgive my ignorance. Can anyone explain in laymans term the way XML (RPN) uses the stacks? I know there is a way to put a dot on the screen to be used as a landing aid. And that it is done using the panel.cfg, but I don't know how, any ideas out there. What i want to do is place a dot or preferably a line on the center upright of the Bell 206 windscreen to help me stay level in VC (ie lined up with the horizon)

I seem to have run into an odd problem with a multi-gauge I'm building...For some odd reason, the latest sub-gauge I'm adding seems to have a "resource problem," because it is using bitmaps from the first sub-gauge in the multi-gauge instead of it's own, defined bitmaps.EDIT: It never fails... ten minutes after I post a plea for help, I found my problem. It seems I mistyped one of the linked-list elements, so it was pointing to the next element in the VOR1 gauge instead of the Electrical gauge! :-bang :-bang *:-* *:-* :~P :~P http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/121422.jpg

  5. Hi guys... I am new in this forum... I am making a Embraer AMX for AI Traffic. I made all right, I put the names on animations and I linked them. But, they doesn't appear in FS, there aren't the animation in the game. I worked more than 12 hours and I don't want to lose my AMX...I need to configure the makemdl.parts? How I do this? The makemdl.parts.xml must stay in the folder Plugins in Gmax? Regards, Matheus Vallim

  6. Does anyone know how Kirk Olsson animated the pilot visors in the F-16b in the viper2tc.zip file. I see textures for the visor in that plane but they are in his Viper also and in the Viper the visors are not animated. Is it something in the model? I'd sure like to aninmate all of his F-16 pilot visors. I could not find an e-mail address for him. Thanks, regards, Bob.

Calling all gauge-coding jockeys. Is anyone out there in Gauge Guru land familiar with the capabilities of the Netpipes method for accessing Flight Simulator data?As is the case with much of the Flight Simulator so-called SDK documentation, you're left with more questions than answers. The Netpipes SDK seems to restrict itself purely to the Flight Simulator Recorder sample and fails to fully list exactly what data from the Flight Simulator engine can be accessed. All the introduction says is "The full data stream into Flight Simulator available via Netpipes is described in the Flight Simulator 2004 Panels SDK".Now there is absoluetly no mention of Netpipes in the Panel SDK…

Good afternoon gentlemen, I have been working on some GDI+ gauges, but I seem to have some problems. I have both a PFD/MFD as well as two separate engine gauges all made with GDI+. The problem is that I get very bad frames with all of them at once. Less than 10 frames, while with other commercial GDI+ airplanes I get over 30 frames. I tried making a timer and uopdating them only 15 times a second, even once a second, but the frames did not improve much(maybe 4 frames per second, the most) I use a class drawing system, with a "DUMMY" gauge that only opens/closes GDI+. I am not sure how to proceed with this. For the second question, in the MFD I have a MAP mode that d…

I'm looking for information on how to correlate Turboprop Shaft Horsepower and Maximum Torque. The FS2004 Flight model shows no entry for Shaft Horsepower, only maximum torque. Torque ratings are never specified by either the aircraft or engine manufacurer.Any assistance appreciated.Michael VerlinHistoric Jetliners Group

If any aircraft designer would be interested in designing a Bellanca Viking for FS2002/2004,I own a 1977 Viking and would be happy to provide as manny picture as needed and aircraft performance specifications. There are over 1000 of these fine airplanes still flying and I think it would be a nice addition to the sim world.Thank you.Ed Weber a.k.a [email protected]

Hi to allI'm an Italian boy ( sorry for my english )I've made an aircraft with Gmax for FS2004 . On the central gear , I have made an animation for the suspension with bones . In GMax the animation is ok , but when I export with MAKEMDL into FS2004 the bone's animation doesn't work . All the parts are named with prefix ( c_gear ) but nothing . In FS2004 the retract gear animation works fine but the suspension animation ( bones ) doesn't work. Is there someone can helps me ?Thanks

I've been using the 707 panel ca707pnl.zip for some time. But recently lost my radios. I get a blank black box where the radios should be displayed when I select them. I suspect some files were over written and I believe these files are default COF gauges as other aircraft are missing radios as well. Not all but a few. I reinstalled the panel this morning but that didn't fix the problem. That's how I came to the conclusion maybe these files are default files from COF. Can someone tell me if I'm going down the right track and if so, where, and on what COF disc could I find the gauges? Thanks very much for any help.Wynn

Hi AllI am a GA flyer who does not use an autopilot much. What I would like though is to be able to engage the AP to hold my current heading and altitude - bit like having a co-pilot when you need to go to the bathroom :-) who will keep things straight and level until you get back. I don't need or want to set heading or altitude neither do I need the other AP functions.I guess this would actually be quite simple if I understood how to program gauges in xml. All I want is a single button on the panel which when clicked will engage the AP and hold current heading and altitude and when clicked again will just disengage the AP.I have started to read up on xml gauge progra…

Hi again all,I am not sure if this is the appropriate forum for this question, but, as I do not see a modeling specific forum on AVSIM, I will post it here where I know everybody :).I have been playing with the Gmax source for a Beech Model 18 G downloaded from that other site :0. It seems the source was originaly for FS2002 and was created using a unit scale in inches, not meters. Needless to say I took most of the next few hours building an appropriate airfile and configs. After converting it to meters and re-orienting the pivots on the props and rudders to face forward I exported the model and opened it in FS9 to take a look see. All looked good from the outside. Gear …

After a long layoff from flight simulation, I'm back at it, flying the wonderful Maule M7-260. Raves notwithstanding, the aircraft seems a bit underpowered to me. I just completed a 1 1/2 flight with most of the flight at 10000' on AP, and maxed out never got much above 120 kts IAS. At 75% power I should be doing more like 140 kts, I should think. So I scrounge around for a .cfg editor, and nothing newer than the old aired seems to be available (free anyway), and using it to nose around in the maule.cfg file I find the HP set at 235, not 260. So I'm going to tinker with that, and see what happens.Any better editors available (free, since I won't do this often enough …

Hi,I'm using the default C172 aircraft but with my own model of a similar size as I'm learning the various parameters of FS with respect to aircraft design. The model and all animations are fine, however it will not sit on the ground. It seems to lack a rear right wheel (which I have conirmed is there in FS), and falls over, into the ground, where it proceeds to flat spin! It flies fine if you slew upwards, but the second any of the wheels contact (you hear the associated noise and the model appears OK), but the second the gear touches the tarmac/whatever, it slows down very rapidly as if you landed with the brakes applied (but in 2ft), and again disappears into the ground…

Hello flightsimmers !!Last time I flew with FS, I thought the realism of the radio communications should be increased. I was flying with a headset (mainly used for network flying), and I thought: why do I hear the engine sound AND the radio in my headset? In a real aircraft, you hear the engine sound from outside, and you hear the radio communication in the headset. So now, I'm wondering if it is possible to have the engine sound and the radio on 2 different channels, one for the PC speakers (engine sound) and one for the headset (radio). Many recent PC have several sound output for external speakers (in the back) and headset (front). Is this possible with one of these adva…

Hello there!I'm still working on my UFC for the PC-21 and it's coming along nicely, but still I got one bugging detail that I just can't get right: the click-areas! I assume I did something wrong with the order of mouse areas and how they're arranged in the xml-file...My question: how should the areas be ordered in the file? I worked with "areas are ordered from left to right for each line, and one line after the other". I mean a rectangular gauge with areas (leters) looking like this:A__B__C_D__E___F__G__would result in the area-codes arranged like:ABCDEFHowever if I do that I get strange results, like clicking the course affects the altitude and similar. I made sure I a…

Howdy all!Is there a parameter or a flag that one can pull from MSFS that indicates that the sim thinks it's raining or snowing? Something must tell MSFS that it needs to turn on/off the Rain Effect on the Winshield so I'm guessing there is a flag or parameter someplace to tell the sim to do that. I'm trying to pass that on in a gauge such that something occurs when it's actually raining or snowing and does not occur when it isn't actually raining or snowing. I looked through all the params, tokens, events, units, commands etc. from the SDK and came up empty.Any help would be appreciated.R/TC2

Hi all. I'm about 98% finished my Hornet HUD, and it's coming along really nicely. There is an issue with the pitch ladder (it only goes up to 50 degrees), and it taking REALLY big bitmaps to make one work properly, but besides that it works great. The velocity vector seems very accurate. Now, about that.... are there any internal sim variables such as "screen width, degrees" and location of the actual horizon which I could use to lock my HUD to?? I've looked but don't see any. The gauge works very well, but as soon as someone messes with its size or the view zoom or pan it's going to be inaccurate. It would be nice if there were a way to have the sim "tack" my HUD horizo…

I have been flying the KBT P3C and love it. Have downloaded and installed the update kit. A folder containing another panel for the P3 was included. I would like to install this new panel and tried unsuccessfully a number of times, using various configurations. There are no instructions for installing it... and I'm rather new at this! The new panel folders are "Gauges", "Panel.NoVC" and "Panel.VC". There is also an aircraft.cfg file in the package. The problem for me is the "Gauges" folder. Regardless of where I place, either the entire folder or the contents of the folder, not all the gauges and icons appear in the cockpit when I load the aircraft into FS9.Wondering if an…
