Hi, I recently installed the Face Track No IR freeware addon but I can't seem to get it to work. I've connected up my webcam, I have got simconect.ini as my profile, I have got FaceAPI as my source and I have got simconnect as the Game Protocol. When I click start it shows up the box with my webcam's view in it but I can't seem to get the yellow face cue that I have seen other people have. When I start fsx nothing happens when I move my head but it still lags a lot. My webcam is a Sandstorm SW72011 and I have got FaceAPI installed, although I don't know if I have installed it correctly. Hope you can Help Thanks. PS: Would be great if you could give my a step…

All of a sudden I have a strong desire for a Carbon Cub for FSX. I thought I'd use her in Alaska. Is there one available or in development? If so, hopefully it will include a realistic VC. Anyone else want one? Stan

I have got through engine start and all that with this bird using some youtube tutorial, but I can't find out how I can turn on my attitude indicator. There is apparently some switch somewhere, but I don't know where. Also I have tried to search but so far found no english manual for it, if someone knows where it's available for download please tell me. So at the moment all my attitude indicators and maybe also some other gauges are not working. Also yokes in VC are not turning, apparently I need to do something but I don't know what without manual.

I have encountered a strange issue. Nav, strobe, landing and becon lights across both default and add-on aircraft have stopped working completely. Some add-ons, 737NGX, for example, works fine. However, there are still some issues with the dome lights not working either. Can any suggest why this might be the case. My add-ons are listed below, but I can't imagine any of them effect it. Whilst I appreciate it it's not a major issue, it is nothing short of an annoyance. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

I have a lot of hours invested in setting EZDok up with camera angles and positions for certain of my aircraft. Those of us that use EZDok and don't use TrackIR really depend on (and enjoy) these views/cameras in FSX...I really like using them for screenshots and Fraps videos etc. I have always thought we should share the EZDok Camera Sets files we make, but a search of the File Library only turns up 4 entries. So I was reading this thread: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/377664-how-does-ezdok-compare-to-active-camera/ ...and noticing how many people make their own EZDok camera sets for scratch..Yes, I'm sure most of us start with a similar aircraft and we Export the E…

Hi. I know the "K" isn't there for nothing but my budget will only let me to get i5 2500K with H61 Mobo, which is not the correct one for OCing. So until I get a decent cooler and motherboard, how will i5 2500k run fsx with stock speed? EDIT: oh I am using my old 9800GT 1GB and 4GB of RAM. I know, can't build this fsx rome in a day Thank You

Hello everyone. Today I have installed A2A lights on my Virtavia C-17, but there's is a problem. Since the airplane is very big, the camera has to be placed very far from the actual aircraft so it can fit on the screen. But there must be some kind of "effect lod" on the landing lights and it causes the lights to not show properly. When I move camera closer, 3D lights are visible. See attached screenshot to see what I am talking about. Is it possible to somehow edit .fx file to increase that light visibility radius so I don't have to move camera that close? Thanks.

I went and read lots of this vs that threads and it's time for a little fun and levity not directed at anyone, but just a general tongue-in-cheek observation. Let's say you got 4 pieces of paper and wrote PMDG, Captain Sim, Level-D and Majestic on them and put them in a hat. Then you built an addon with 3 verifiable bugs and drew one of the names out of the hat to see who gets to release it. It doesn't matter what the bugs are. Let's just say they are fairly obvious, but they don't detract too much from your abillity to fly and enjoy the plane. Depending on who gets to release it the thread might go something like this: Remember its the same addon regardless of who re…

Installed Syncro Soft C172 Vintage Soundset for Cessna 172. Great sound but there is a chime ringing periodically as part of the engine sound. Anyone know how to stop that or is it trying to tell me something. Using Default 172 with RealAir aircraft.cfg.

My question relates to what to do after the FMS is programmed. When I take off, the plane does not follow the plan setup in the FMS. I've programmed it as per the manual and the Citation X Tutorials on Youtube and still no luck. I did quite a bit of searching and found tons of info on how to setup the FMS but nothing was clear was to what to do next after its setup and I hit the TO/GA button and take off. Hitting the AP and heading buttons result in nothing happening but the plane climbing right past the altitude programmed and not turning to the heading its programmed to follow. PFD was setup as per the video and manual and nav source was set to FMS. I figure I'm mis…

We all know that most CTD is brought on by missing library files.. these have been reported long ago and the latest set of ORBX libraries released yesterday still do not fix this.. So if you do get CTD dont be surprised to find that these are the culpritsone of the places where you find it is between Arlington Mun and Anacortes.on the attached GPS you can see whereabout I do get them.We all know these missing library files are a HUGE contributor to CTD.FSX will not show that missing library files but it can come haunt you later with a CTD (not a definite, but a huge possibility as we all by now know very well) even if you have the FSUIP4 installed that is suppose to catch…

HELP!! I recently installed the PMDG 747X for fsx and due to problems with my computer, I had to delete the MSFSX folder. I re-installed it today after taking out every part of my computer and replacing it. I booted up fine, reinstalled fsx and all my payware addons and then I got to the PMDG 747X. I loaded up the installer <Download Version of the Installer> and it came up with a error message: The setup has detected that version 2.1 has already been installed...This setup installs a previous version of the software...you will have to uninstall the previous version before installing this one. I thought <no dramas> and then went to control panel and uninst…

I really didn't have my mind on it since very one talks about new aircraft that will be soon out an stuff. But i always wonder how the got the camera to move so realistic like if they were in the pilot seat or something . But yet again i never ask . So help me out guys am here looking in ebay at to different track IR version , version 4 an version 5 . What is the difference between both of them in terms of fsx only because that is the only game i will be using it for . Someone said track Ir 5 is not that big a difference in fsx it is basically kind of the same. So can s…

Way back in the mists of time (FS95?) I seem to remember that when in spot view the aircraft used to dissappear into the clouds. Why does that not happen any more I ask myself - it was so good to see. regards What I meant was that clouds would come and go between the viewer and the aircraft as in real life so the aircraft would disappear behind clouds and then reappear once the clouds had pasted. It was very nice to see.

I just goofed a bit of my FSX Installation, by trying to install a scenery file I found of St. Barths (TFFJ) The sim still still works and loads, the issue is a message: Scenery.CFG file error invalid Remote, scenry path in Scenery Area .120, Click OK to continue... I have had this happen to me before, Unprofessionally and unknowingly I have fixed the issue by Restoring Computer to a previous date...It’s not giving me that choice any more, but a restore time that is only 15 minutes before the misshap. That is completely useless as I have been trying to fix this now for more that a few hours. I deleted the scenery as It didn’t show anything of what was su…

Hi All, I've just started getting dreaded out of memory errors - the strange thing is I've recently upgraded from a computer that NEVER got OOM errors.... to one much more powerful! Something must be amiss here, and I was wondering if anyone could help me track the problem down. I've had the problem twice now - I'm running FSX Acceleration with the following addons (Both flights were in the Flight1 Mustang, but I wont go into all the planes I have added as I know they're not involved in this when not loaded) HiMem fix is enabled.... REX 2.0 Radar Contact 4 UTX+GEX Europe MyTraffic X 5.4a TrackIR 5 UK2000 Vol 1+2+3 East Midlands Xtreme Heathrow Xtrem…

So I purchased an upgrade that was supposed to make my FSX enjoyment go up, but sadly it's been quite the opposite so far. After installing a new motherboard, processor and RAM I was able to get Windows happy with replacement drivers etc, but when I launched FSX I received an ugly activation error. The activation wizard never comes up to "re-activate" and none of the solutions I've found so far have helped. Anyone battled their way to a solution here?

My addon scenery folder is getting pretty cluttered with entries. I did some searching but I was still confused. I was wondering if I could create folders containing related addon sceneries such as "US Military Bases" or "Southern California" and combine the scenery folders that I use as a group in the parent folder. Will FSX recognize this and all me to add the amalgamated areas as an active scenery group? I hope I explained this in a coherent manner. Thanks. M. Slim

I am going to start a forum blog here on Avsim.net. Here's how it's going to work: I will fly routes daily with certain airplanes(mainly Horizon Air's Dash 8 Q400, CRJ700, and Alaska Air's 737, or others on popular requests). The AI Traffic I use is Ultimate Traffic 2. The Airports I will fly to/from are KSEA, KBOI, KPDX, KLAX and other regional airports Alaska/Horizon Air fly to. My Fblog will detail such things as: From/To Airport Runway Landed/Take Off From Whether my flight was IFR or VFR Busyness of Airport Time of Flight And many other things. At the end of the details I will post around 5-10 screenshots of FSX. I will use this thread for my Fbl…

Greetings nice (hopefully) people, Newcomer here, who has recently discovered an unquenchable passion for Flight Simulator X. I’m no pilot, but I’ve grasped the basics pretty quickly, and am at the point where I can—for all *my* intents and purposes at least—fly pretty well. Thing is, I’ve learnt to do so with the use of the g1000 system, and I really like it. It allows me to do things that I can’t do, or can’t do *as easily*, in traditional cockpits. My flights are pretty simple. I program a route with the planner, take off, set my g1000-equipped plan to follow the approach, and then enjoy the scenery until it’s time to land. Other times, I keep the autopilot on,…

So, I was in my JS4100 flying a regional African route from FGSL (Malabo) to FKYS (Nsimalen). It was nighttime and I've never approached the airport before, and from 20 miles away I saw distant strobes, but from 6 miles away I saw nothing of the runway. When I was about 3 or 4 miles away the runway strangely appeared into view, and I brought my plane into Nsimalen like I would any other approach. As I came in for the final, I heard "MINIMUMS" called way too early. That's when I realized Microsoft dug a 500 foot canyon into the ground just big enough to fit Nsimalen airport into. So in FSX, this airport is completely surrounded by 300 to 500 foot cliffs, with each cliff ab…
