To anyone with the answere. I have a question on keyboard commands for FSX. Here is the scenerio. Say me and another person is flying in multiplayer shareing the same plane. I am in the right seat and the other player is in the left set flying. Now I want to move to the left seat and take control. What are the keyboard commands to switch from the right seat and take control of the plane? Thanks for your input... Les

  2. When set to cold and dark from the pull down menu in game, the gauges and digital read outs are still on, how do you get a totally dead plane or isn't it possible? I'm guessing its cause ground services are connected but I can't figure out how to disconnect them and get a pure cold and dark plane? Notice clock and N/W readouts(and others) are on.

  4. I would like to have category in my aircraft list of 'BAV' in the same place where you have rotor craft, single piston engine, multi piston engine, so that it would only display aircraft I can use within BAV. How would I got about adding this category and how do I tell each aircraft to be in that category? So I tried what you suggested and for an A318 it worked, All i did was add the 'ui_createdby="BAV"' line to the CFG which looks like this. But for the 737 EVO it didnt, this is what the CFG entry for that livery looks like. The A318 now resides in the 'BAV' Category under Publisher, and the evo remains under feelthere/wilco Thank you …

The default FSX keys don't help me, So I was wondering what addons are Available for that. I Have a video To show you what I hud looks like now. There are also couple of videos that show my HUD on my YouTube channel.

Hi been fooling around with fs9 for so many many years, I'm completely new to FSX. Haven't had any aircraft addons for fsx except some weather engine and ground scenery that come along with both versions. I've had enough with heavies and I see those three fighters are really challenging. They received Avsim Gold Star and I have read all the reviews, in fact, I have read them for several times. I really need your opinions, especially users so that I know how helpful the support is. F-16 from Aerosoft has the friendliest price while VRS Superbug costs $45 and I do not have the FS9 version so I wont get any discounts and I heard MilViz has flight1ish 30 day trial..to…

Sometimes I don't know why I bother with FSX! In reality I use it because I get to do the the aviation stuff that I would never get to do in reality. In reality I am a cross country sailplane pilot so I do get to fly and flying a glider is something special. Sailplane pilots are committed to due diligience and we pay great attention to the details of all aspects of glider flight. This involves many hours of work on the ground for every 1 hour in the air. That's the nature of aviation! However it appears to be the nature of FSX also! Many hours of work on the ground for 1 hour of flying pleasure still on the ground! Anyway as I said I am interested in FSX because I get…

I'm constantly changing texture sets for Europe. Before complete reinstall of FSX, I was sure that UTX+GEX is the best combination. GEX Europe has very good textures and autogen placement, but that brownish look just doesn't suite my vision how Europe must look like. Then I switched to FScene4x, much more realistic, but only from high altitude! Textures are awful on approach (below 10 000), and autogen placement is bad, so it's not definitely for VFR flights. Now I'm on default textures + UTX, Europe looks much more natural in green. Now I'm thinking to switch on GEX again, trying to convince myself i'ts better looking, but that autumn textures in the middle of summer, na…

  11. Hello folks, today I keep getting the message from FSX that the engine is not leaned correctly, therefore it is losing power. After a while, the engine dies and I have to restart the flight. This never happened to me before. I am flying the piston Duke, with the realism settings as per the guide. "Enable automixture" is disabled. If I try to lean the engine with the lean lever of my joystick, I see the needle moving in the display, so that is working fine. What do you think I am doing wrong? I know for sure it is not the Duke, which I have been flying quite extensively, and never had this problem before.... I just tried with the Bonanza F33A, same issue, unless I t…

I bougt the iFly 737NG and I cant use the auto pilot like the FSX default plane. There are 4 auto pilot modes the CMD A, CMD B, CWS A, and CWS B. which one do you use to set the ALT HLD to fly say at 5000ft? I just can't get the plane to automatically fly to any altitude I set. I really would appreciate if somebody can tell me simply hoe to fly it like the default 737 plane. The manual that comes with it is nearly 500 pages and its so complicated for me. stelios

I have noticed that no matter what aircraft model used (Wilco/Feelthere, Level-D, PMDG, CS) the calculated speeds for V1 and VR are within 1 or 2 knots, and in many cases the same speed. When I watch though real world cockpit takeoff videos, it appears the gap between V1 and VR is greater, more like 5-10kts. So my question is do pilots routinely override the calculated speeds, or is there a problem within FSX on how these speeds are calculated?

I'm hoping to find an add on that imparts some more realism in terms of ground roll sound effects, shakier camera views, wheel screech effects--something to tame the at time sterile nature of built-in effects. As I'm on dated hardware it would be important to me not to have undo processing overhead from this add-on. Suggestions? I'd also like to stick to one only, if there is something somewhat all-encompassing. Many thanks in advance, Noel

I've got a fresh install of FSX sitting here in d:\FSX. Its clean. No Add Ons at all. Then I have this pile of AddOns waiting to be installed. I was wondering if maybe you guys might give me some advice on what order to install these in. I know I'm supposed to do UTX and patch that up before doing GEX...but beyond that I'm not sure. Any hints you have about installing any of it would be appreciated. Here is what I've got: UTX USA UTX Canada UTX Alaska UTX Tropical & Carribean GEX North America GEX Atlantic & Pacific Tropics REX Essential (I haven't downloaded Overdrive yet but I'm sure I will) OpusFSX ActiveSky 2012 I see that some …

Is there a tool or process out there that will diagnose scenery crashes and/or lockups for general areas (not specific airports)? I cannot load or fly into the NW U.S. or Alaska without either a lockup (flying) or a crash to desktop (Win7 FSX SP2). No problems anywhere else. Not aircraft dependent. Scenery data files compile properly with FS Commander and Plan-G 3. I've had FS Genesis mesh for years (no problem), UTX for years (no problem) and nothing that I can remember installed as an add-on recently. I've rebuilt the fsx.cfg file and checked the scenery.cfg file finding nothing out of the ordinary. Any way to find what's hanging the system?

  18. Hello everyone, I have got a question, that came up in the last few days, as I was practicing off line on DME arcs, and holding procedures: when you set the bank to standard, it means the 180 degree turn takes a full minute, no more, no less. Well, the piston Duke takes well over 85 seconds, which is not real at all, and screws the whole holding procedure. I tried the same thing with the default Baron58, and it turns in exactly 60 seconds. I sent a message to Sean, at support, but to no avail, so I am wondering if anyone else noticed it. It seems odd that an add on like the Duke does not fly by the book, if anyone has an answer for this, please let me know. I know it seem…

I still don't own any ORBX products, so with their release of FTX England, I figured I'd go ahead and finally get some of their products. I'm going to get England, of course, but I want to get either a North American region or airport from them, too. However, there are a ton of airports, so I'm at a complete loss as to what to get. I'll probably be flying a twin-engine GA aircraft a lot, and I like to do city flying, so what would be the best airport to get? And how much are the airports in the FTX regions upgraded? Thanks, boeing247 P.S. When is FTX Northern California supposed to come out?

  20. I have been trying to set up the Milviz Baron for the past few days. I found it to be very over sensitive to rudder and brake inputs using Saitek Rudder unit. No matter what I did, the thing was all over the place during taxi. Note that I have been using the EZCA profile that was prepared by Milviz. After purchasing The Opus weather program, I decided to Turn off the EZCA setup and try out the opus camera effects. After setting up a Camera, I started a test flight to check things out. I use FSUIPC for setting up all control inputs and had the rudder and brake controls dialed all the way back trying to control this beast on the ground. To my surprise I noticed it took much…

Hi guys, After years of looking at airport ground vehicles zooming round the various airports in FSX at life threatening speeds, I decided to try and rectify matters and slow them down. On checking the methods other users have posted on this forum, I went through each of the .cfg files under Sim Objects>Ground Vehicles and adjusted the speeds from the 115 mph (generally) to something more reasonable. The results were disappointing - I could detect no differences at all. As an experiment, I selected all the vehicles connected with baggage handling and set all their speeds to 10 mph. I was stunned to see they still whizzed around with no discernable change …

So I am perusing the OpusFSX site and read this: "Enable Live Weather Engine if required. This option is available in limited form on the free demonstration software. The LWE is restricted to 160km (100 miles) in all directions and the weather is updated only whilst your aircraft is on the ground. Select the on Local Computer option, the on Networked Client option is not yet implemented." Is this telling me that I cannot run the Live Weather Engine from a networked PC? Or is that a restriction on the demo mode only. Is anyone generating weather for their flight sim computer from a remote computer using Opus? I currently am using SimConnect …

  25. Hello Everyone, First post, so hope I get the etiquette correct. I bought and installed FSX on a large mechanical hard drive. I did it that way because I knew it would require a fair amount of space. The drive is part of a RAID array. The sim operates as it should, and I've not made any tweaks or changes - more or less virgin state. When I restart a flight or, say, change the time of day from day to dusk or night, it takes a long time to reload the scenery - maybe 20-30 seconds. To help this I plan on buying an SSD and moving FSX to the SSD. It's not the only one in my system, I have a 120g SSD system drive and about 500g RAID for data. Is it possi…
