It appears that OpusFSX might be causing fatal errors for me. Maybe it's just coincidence, but I never get a fatal error when I just start FSX without Opus. However, when I open OpusFSX and then start FSX, 90% of the time I get a fatal error on the opening screen. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks. Edit... OpusFSX cannot cause fatal errors within FSX, it interfaces entirely through the SimConnect so any fatal errors have nothing to do with OpusFSX, other than you may have detailed and varied RW weather injected. I have recently had problems with Vox ATC stop working in flight I have contacted there support they say it is because people use so many different addons that use sim connect. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening as it can be annoying if it stops mid flight or landing as you get no landing instructions. I would be pleased for any advice Many thanks Graham

Hi, as some of you have probably noticed by now, turboprop aircraft in FSX (and FS9 for that matter) do not start like their real-life counterparts. In real life, when you engage the starter, the prop will slowly begin to spin and gradually gain speed until ignition occurs. In the sim there is little rotation and the prop literally goes from not moving to full speed in an instant. I have found that the Basler PT6 DC-3 conversion correctly models what a real PT6 startup looks like. So my question, what other aircraft out there (payware or freeware) do this? And how can we edit aircraft to represent startup more accurately? Thanks, Jeff

As the title says, what are the best simulations of modern day (and not so modern day) jetliners? I'd love for AVSIMmers to fill in the gaps here in my knowledge. Note that with "best", I mean high fidelity and -at the very least- a fully functional day-to-day operation like the Majestic Q400|Aerosoft Airbus X has for now. Not sure where to write this one, as it is not FSX directly related. In my home built 737-800 I have a small screen (4" X 4") set into my overhead panel. I use this to run ProjectMagenta 'QuickMap'running off one of my Client PC's (using XP Home/Wideclient etc) My problem is once the program starts up and links to FSX, I still have a mouse and hour glass in center of screen flashing quickly from one to the other. These items are of course very small, but what ever I try in Control Panel/mouse, I can't get it to stop. I don't think this is a software issue, but something in the P.C. causing the problem. I have some strange issue when I do flights to courchevel where parts of the runway gets covered my something else. It does not happen if I load a flight from there but seem to only occur when Im arriving from another airport..Happens also with the close by Maribel strip. Anyone else expirienced this problem and know how i can fix this issue? Had the exact same problem with Lukla, and had to delete a file somewhere but can't remember exactly how I fixed that. The downside with that fix was that I could no longer load a flight at lukla, but had to use a save file to to get it loaded..

Hi all For me, the availability of a solid sound package is a huge part of of my decision to purchase a new aircraft. There is no worse let down than an exciting aircraft with default sounds or a pathetic attempt to create one by merely distorting other sounds. From the video clips I've heard, the Captain Sim B-52 is not convincing. Maybe I've just heard the wrong clips. Does anyone know of a good sound package for the B-52? Thanks Erich

Bought it yesterday because I like bizjets... wanted to see what it was all about. In short I am disappointed, my recommendations... save your money... The only thing going for this jet is the outside visual model. Its nice. Cockpit is subpar, instruments especially the EFIS are mostly unreadable at all but max zoom. I replaced them with ISG EFIS and FMC, but the set up don't fit quite right because of the way the cockpit is modeled. Its workable, but just barely. Fortunately it was only $29.00 and who knows, maybe I'll be able to tweek the ISG setup to fit better. Had hopes for this little jet... :(

All I don't know what forum to put this in since this is something totally new. I work with the 1940 Air Terminal museum in Houston, TX and by luck, we have in our possession a former Southwest Airlines 737-200 full motion simulator. She's a big girl, she has a full cockpit, but we cannot use the original sim software due to FAA limitations (and power requirements). We want to open this up and possibly convert her to FSX. I don't think this has ever been done, but since she was a sim once, we could possibly use her inputs and controls to interface with FSX. This would be a great addition to our museum. Don't know why but they're missing from this location (just have a bunch of jetways but no buildings attached) and some others generally in this part of the FSX world. Anyone know how I can get them back into my scenery folder or wherever they belong off of the FSX install CD? I have lots of scenery addons and I'm sure something was killed when I overwrote a back up installation folder at some point in my 5 y/o FSX installation. Thanks in advance.

And I can't get the display to turn on? I've never bought/flown a glass cockpit, so thought I would just try the stock 172 and see how that went, but I cannot turn on the display. FWIW, using Bowerman, and the engine is running when I start. Anyone help?

This the order I put my scenery in, give back some feed-back??? Put Ultimate Terrains:Alaska,USA,Canada,all patches.Then put all FTX :Pacific Fjords,Gold USA Central Rocky MTS,Blue USA/Canada Northern Rocky MTS. USA/Canada Pacific Northwest,Blue Southern Alaska.Add all the patches for these,Then FTX airports all patches for then,add Vancouver and VancouverPlus after all that is in I add Ground Environment for Alaska,Canada,USA,after tha tI also add UT2 Traffic,FSMap that's about it.Thanks a lot let me know if I can change any thing for the better.....Scott

With the Alabeo Staggerwing comming soon I decided to plan one heck of a delivery flight I will pick up my Beech in Milan Italy and proceed on my 6000 mile route to KORS. I've planned fuel stops around every 250 miles but a few legs over water and northern Canada will be around 400 miles. I plan on using real weather and mostly dead reckoning it'll be fun and I'll post plenty of screens along the way. Wish me luck!!!

Out of those 3 planes, which do you guys think is the most difficult to get up and running? I am still learning a lot of new things with the 737 NGX, since that is the plane I fly in mostly. The other 2 I have messed around with a bit but didn't invest a whole lot of time in learning to fly. Especially the Airbus X Extended, since I am using an xbox controller to fly, it doesn't seem to even work with advancing the throttles. I want to master the 737 NGX and then the 747. Is the 747 easier to fly once you master the 737 or is it the other way around? I'd like to hear everyone's input concerning the order of difficulty with these 3 planes. I have Bojote's Shader mod installed. Great framerates and my 7970 does not even know that those overcast clouds are there! Love it. Is it safe to install REXE water Textures and also will they look right if I do? Like they would have before the mod? Charles.

Bought Us Cities Chicago yesterday just to have something to fill into FTX Global when released, I have always stayed away from these sceneries because I have heard how hard they can be on frames. To my big surprise Chichago performed excellent even in bad weather, I could fly the a2a P51 with max autogen sliders decent traffic and other settings with a constant 30FPS without stutters. I was so euphoric and impressed on how real it looked. Went on to buy Las Vegas too, the same performance there too (even slightly better, and this scenery has night lightning to). Hello everyone! I've been wondering where one can find... atypical sceneries. Since my return to FSX, I've been raiding Simmarket again for scenery and aircraft, as it was the only site I remembered from back in my 2004 days. However, I've noticed that even a lot of mainline things aren't even on Simmarket (a decent KLAX comes to mind). I have found a few things I wanted that I got from alternative sources (FSDT's KJFK & KLAX, FullTerrain's ORBX Wales and PMDG's 737NGX for example), but there's still tons of things I'm looking for. Whats the best way to remove planes from fsx without wiping them out permanently?I just want to thjin out my planes to the ones I use the most.

Hi everyone, I have this problem with my AI traffic at Houston international. I recently installed new United flightplans, and since then, when I load up the sim, the only traffic I see in the KIAH area is a few airborne planes, but nothing on the ground except for a Fedex A310 (at around 19.30 local), at both KIAH and KHOU (so no Southwest either). The airborne planes do land and park at the gate without disappearing. I installed an AFCAD for KIAH, to see if that had any result, but it was no better than the default airport. Does anyone have any idea what might cause this? Nick

Help Please. I installed SweetFX (Version 1.4) and have gotten everything working with the exception of the bloom effects. And Yes, I have bloom effects turned on in Sweetfx. Within FSX, I have both antialiasing and bloom unchecked. Have any of you experienced this? Could this somehow relate to settings in my nvidia inspector?
