GSX or AES? I used to use AES quite a lot, but the idea of spending money one time for unlimited use of GSX is appealing, too (as opposed to having to buy credits every time you want to add a new airport). Thoughts? Paul

Greetings all. I'm an FSX weekend pilot, just for fun, nothing serious, but have noticed an issue when flying that I don't know if it's me or just the system so am hoping for help. I often fly jets and regularly hop along using flight levels. I also use real weather settings injected into FSX from FSGlobalWeather or Opus (same issue on both). After passing 18,000 I always reset my altimiter to 29.92 going up and back to appropriate setting when going down and the altitude jumps appropriately, however, the altitude shown by FSX using shift F12 still shows the altitude based on the baro pressure when above 18000. I've been waiting for someone to make the default global scenery less barren feeling, or less like the world has no grass anywhere but in a few well done locations. How does global compare to their regional packs like Australia or pnw?

When using FSX and press alt-tab to return to Windows, joystick disconnects automatically and I have to start FSX again. When I do that in midflight, it makes things very hard. I am using Windows 8 so is it the reason of problem?

Just a quick question about the milviz 737. Is it modeled to be more of a study sim, ie pmdg level realism, or more of a toned down aircraft? Thanks

Hello, I can usually land my pmdg 737 ngx between 60-120 fpm without really paying attention, it will autoland itself at 200-400 fpm, according to one va's acars client. I joined up with another va where it's mostly airbus equipment that i'm less familiar with, and I can't get one of them airbuses(wilco) to land autoland or manual like under 4 or 500 fpm. Is there some kind of monitoring client outside of the va's acars clients I can install that keys off the same data so I can practice, and see my rates without having to be "on the clock?" I was going to disable my GEX NA but my Backup folder is missing. I have a backup of all the default FSX files and folders from my original install, however how/can I manually re-install the original files? I am going to purchase FTX Global. Thanks LW

I'm using UT2. Are the planes suppose to light up the runway during night dusk/dawn hours at the airport? I do see the lights on the airplane but it doesn't appear to light up the ground. I've seen screenshots where AI planes light up the tarmac.

Did anyone pay for ftx with paypal. I did last night and my sale is still pending, even though paypal said that they paid the flightsim store. Just wondered if anyone else had this problem, no answere from their help department. Thanks Anthony

Hi there, I am going to install "ENRICODELBONO'S (ENB) MOD" and tried some before, but was not really satisfied with them. There were actually just a few files to put into FSX folder. This one seems to be a bit more difficult so I want to follow recommendation in description and make a backup of my FSX. To be honest I have never done this before, always have been gone the risky way but my sim is running to well so I want not risk it this time. My FSX root folder is around 40 GB big, would it be enough to copy that one to my desktop in order to replace it with the ENB MOD stuff in case I am not satisfied with it again? Hi, I have this strange platform effect at New York La Guardia in FSX, both with the default scenery and with the addon here shown. I have no other sceneries nor mesh installed in that area. Anyone has an idea as to what could cause this? Thanks.

Here's a reference photo to show you what my problem is. That arrow points to an area that should be a large body of water, however, it is displaying as land. I know my scenery order is out of wack. I believe I deleted my scenery.cfg and let it create a new one, so now everything is out of order. I have UTX, GEX, photoreal. In that picture I have MegaSceneryEarth Texas, I tried placing it at the very top and below my UTX entries, but the water still is showing up as land. I tried to go to another photoreal area in St. Maarten where there's a ton of water, and its all land too. Not sure what's wrong. Here's a screenshot of my current scenery library.

The payware airports are wearing out my wallet and I am looking for recommendation of outstanding freeware airports that can accommodate 737ngx. I have the philly airport already.

... okay, this is the situation, my Airline & GA traffic are all set uo to the left mean the % is (0), UT2 is disabled ... launching FSX & the air is full with Airplanes, Airports are empty, but I hear (not see) Engines on & off & Airplanes are Taxing ….one Airport, Catalina Island KAVX, is loaded with Helicopters hovering all over … it is very annoying, I’m flying with PE Real ATC in Southern California & I do not need AI at all. Are there any deboarding sounds with fs2crew for 737 ngx? It seems like after the land the last message I hear is for the passengers to wait for the captain to turn off the seat belt light and to stay seated. After hearing all the boarding sounds etc, it feels kind of odd that that it ends soo abruptly. Am I missing a step somewhere or is that really the last recording?

I am wondering if anyone knows of any good thorough tutorials or references that will help me understand the different stages of arrivals and landings. Descent planning, speed and altitude control, FMS and autopilot role and use in arrivals etc. I've been quite unsuccessful in landing my Embraer 170 ... most times descenting too late and then compensating with drastic rates of descent and increased speeds. I know it's likely a very broad subject, but even knowing the basics might be a help.

For some reason my default planes engines shut down seconds after I start the flight. I haven't tried them all, jets included that haven't been tried. Any ideas?

EDIT: Update to below post - speeds seem to have improved, as of 12:30z :smile: ----------------------- Forget about purchasing anything (not just FTX Global) at Flight Sim Store at this moment (10.40z)...... links to almost all of the geographic servers except 2 are dead, and the 2 that are working are running at 10kbps :angry: I'm currently on my 5th attempt to download Orbx OG39 Longview Ranch, and have had 4 dropouts, and quotes of 1 week to download this 480Mb package! Clearly servers are all fried from FTXG.... I picked a heck of a time to buy OG39! :lol: All servers apart from the "Cloud" now appear dead and are going to 'pages does not exist'…

I haven't understood, I can see now by reading some posts this afternoon, what is required here. Could someone help? First, in FSX.... I understand that bitmaps without active alpha channels can cause stuttering. Is this for scenery and aircraft? Should they also have Mipmaps?? In FS9? Is it the same? I thought that bitmaps there needed active alpha channels but should not have mipmaps. The ReadMe in Peter Nyman's DXT3Fixer tool states, however: "This tool fixes the stutters in FS9 caused by dxt3 textures without mipmaps. The fact is that the alpha data is there, but a byte is set wrong...." So if I run this (excellent) tool, should I be getting it to fix …

We've got the 50s/60s propliner people hoarding over at CalClassic, the 70s people at HJG and we've got the late 1990s and present day jet jockeys everywhere else. What about the people inbetween, more specifically, pilots flying in a (roughly) 1980s environment? The reason I'm asking is, that I, so far, have resonably backdated 1980s AFX files for DFW and ORD and I need people to take them for a short spin. I am especially looking for proper AI handling as I had to delete a runway at each airport. So my current setup is my main desktop which runs fsx. It has the newest FSUIPC along with WideFS. When I run a regular flight online I run my ACARS, REX injection and FSINN. Now I also have a separate windows laptop that runs windows 7 as well. Is there anyone that can sit down with me and help me setup Widefs (or any other applications for that matter) to get these three programs running on my remote laptop?

I have finally upgraded to the asus vi hero and the 4670 k.The rest of the the parts are from the old system.(gtx 570,corsair h100,kingston v300 240 gb,corsair gs700,corsair 8 gb vengance 1600 mhz) My question is what fps should i expect and since i would be overclocking could i push the sliders to the right(not all the way) and get a pretty and smooth sim ?, Also does anyone a good guide for overclocking the cpu ?

In the thread that shows some GEX - FTX Global comparison I noticed the poster hardly uses autogen. And autogen is a HUGE part of FTXG. Besides, not everyone owns GEX (I don't) and I was mainly interested in FSX default versus FTX Global screenshots. I made three comparison screenshots myself, which also shows the much improved autogen. The FSX default shots were taken yesterday, after which I saved the flight, and today I took the FTXG shots.
