Hi, I've read that Antivirus/Antimalware programs should be disabled before installing FSX but should they also be turned off when running FSX? I want to use as few resources as possible when in FSX. Thanks. Tom

Hello I would appreciate ideas of how to fix a problem I have with some airport sceneries. Those are important to me because those are the airports used most frequently by the division I fly in IVAO I am configuring a new PC. After I installed FSX fresh I installed the FSGenesis mesh-set I have always used, Then I installed my add-on airports. All is OK except on a set of airports where I see black areas on the ground or buildings or in the areas near the airport. When I disable the add-on set (that has problems) in FSX scenery settings, the problem goes away (but I loose those add-ons of course). Hi all, we'll after years and years, of flying in FSX, I finally had that WOW moment. I had installed stalled on my new PC, purpose built to run fsx at 5670 x 1080 at 30fps, which she does nicely, at least in smaller aircraft, I get 15 - 20 with my PMDG 737. when I'm sitting in rain.. it will rain for about 5 seconds then stop for about 1 or 2 then rain then stops.. off and on constantly. I just did a fresh install of FSX on my new pooter.. and I remember this from last time I did a new install and I remember I had to change a setting somewhere.. but don't remember.. I'm thinking something in FSUIPC because I did not have AS2012 running when it did this.. I was also online with VATSIM using FSINN.. I don't think that is the culprit.. but... any ideas?

I have EZDOK and find it to be pretty good but it doesn't always seem to work as it should. However, I know practically nothing about OPUS. Good things said about its weather engine but I have no interest in changing from HiFi Active Sky series. I hope someone can provide a bit more info than the OPUS site. The setup looks a lot more complicated than EZDOK and that means more time "getting ready to fly". Thanks in advance for some enlightenment. Regards to all Neal H

This is a very difficult topic, but something that should be discussed. Is it right for a developer to use promotional shots for their products when they are using other add ons as well (ENB, SweetFX, REX, Shade, to name but a few)? Is using something like Photoshop a step too far? I feel that if anything other than vanilla FSX is used, then it should be explicitly stated, otherwise it is an unfair representation of the product but quite often this is not the case. However, where do you draw the line? Having a huge LOD that would be completely unusable on 99% of users machines, for instance. Hi everyone-new to the forums so sorry if this has already been asked. I recently installed iFly's 747-400 package, but I am having trouble with the route settings for a dep/ arr/ airports. I enter the ICAO code of the airport into the corresponding area, but the FMC returns "NOT IN DATABASE". The Company Route function is also not working. I am taking off from runway 19L from Bangkok and my destination is Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I select my DEP as Runway 19L using the SIMON1 SID, and then for ARR I have no clue what to do next. I want to land on an ILS runway at VVTS and the only available ones are 25L/R. Running a new rig with triplehead2go, usual (well documented) problem with over sized lights, which I've largely overcome with an alternative Halo.bmp, plus the "Scaler" mods in FSX.cfg. Runway lights and VASI's look OK. But I can still see huge light bursts on the apron whilst on approach. Like here: And the aircraft lights are still odd, even using the smallest halo.bmp I could find. Hello; I have noticed my hard drive filing up until full! Checking the files I discovered the culprit was FSX making and saving to "My Videos" a video of the flight session. I did not set this up intentionally and have no idea why it's doing this. Does anyone know how to turn this off ?? At the moment whenever I open FSX a video is saved automatically. Thank you, WilloW

I am a long time TrackIR 4 Pro user, and I'm very happy with the hardware. I have always used the TrackIRv4 program when using FSX, but I understand there is a TrackIRv5 app as well. I decided to give v5 a try, because I get some occasional crashes with v4, or sometimes the head movement goes haywire and I'm forced to restart the program. I was curious to see if v5 offered any benefit, but when I tried it out I found that I missed some things I enjoyed with the older program, specifically: 1. Hi wonder if someone can advise Using Fsx with PMDG 737NGX can't get my CH USB 3 lever Yoke to actionnthe Elevators correctly plane either pitches right up or down. elevators never realign in centre position, I have them on Y Axis have calibrated with CH control manager and FSX calibrator tool but alas no change Strange thing when I disconnected the Yoke and changed from my Windows Desktop Ultimate 64 bit to my Windows 7 Premium 64bit the Yoke works perfectly with elevators centering perfectly after either pitching up or down. Does PFPX have the ability to choose what the departing and arriving runways are according to your flight plan? Simbrief has this feature and it takes a lot of guess work out in having to figure out the correct SID/STAR for the appropriate runway. I'm hoping PFPX can generate a quick fligjt plan by simply entering in the departing airport and arriving airport and the rest is taken care of, including telling me the correct runway to use for departure and arrival. Usually I spend too much time flight planning, and not enough flying, which takes a lot of fun out of it for me. Hi! Anybody knows of a way to adjust the brightness within FSX? The virtual cockpit sometimes looks extremely dark, making it difficult to read some of the rendered dials and panels, this is even with buttons and flood lights turned up to max within the aircraft settings. This happens with several aircraft types.

Hi guys! I would just like to say that I am very impressed with what you guys have done one the Q400! I've recently been hired as a pilot for a canadian airline (Jazz Aviation) and i'm currently in the process of doing my initial type rating on the Q400. It is a nice suprise that the Q400 was released just after my first level-d FFS session. I still have a lot to learn on the real Q400 having 10 4-hour sessions in the FFS scheduled next month, but from what I can see from the tests I made in the MJC Q400, except for minor differences in the FMS, everything is bang on. I am having a problem where after a fresh install of windows 7 and fsx with service pack 1 where as soon I have installed acceleration when I go into windowed mode and maximise it the screen remains black and I cant see anything in fsx. When I press esc I see the menu but as soon as I click continue I can see nothing again. I have tried reinstalling twice but still no luck fixing this issue, can anybody help as it works fine without acceleration and I have added ui...dll ? Thanks

I just got this aircraft in the Just Flight 24 hour sale. It's really quite nice, but I have a request... I not questioning the accuracy of the model, but I miss not having any feedback when I touch down. Is it possible for me to add a sound for touchdown? I'd also like to add something for flaps - a click or something as we move between settings? Any assistance would be most appreciated! EDIT - title should read 200/300 - I messed up but can't change it now.

Hi community, Sorry, fairly new to this......I'm running FSX with REX Essentials plus Overdrive, but I cannot seem to find an area in either program where I can set multiple layers of cloud, at different altitude. I seem to be only able to set one. For example, I can set my first layer up at about 5,000 feet, but that is all I can seem to choose. The upper level cloud is at around 25,000 feet. So, what I would like to know, is can I add additional layers at say, 10,000, 15,000 etc? Been through the readme's, but can't seem to find anything. Can anybody advise me please? Thanks, AJ.

Hey guys, Small problem that i've had no real joy in finding a solution too while searching over many forums. I've got REX ESS+OD. The start position of the aircraft is recognized but if i start flying (or use the 'Go To Airport), the WX does not recognize my position. Iv encountered this problem before but can't remember fully what i did to rectify the situation, however running a 'simconnect.exe' seems to ring a bell. Cheers for any help

I am unable to watch any AI traffic carrier-landing - I did in the past. I even created some traffic. I am able to see the Corsairs and Skyhawks - only with WHEELS landing in naval airports. Appreciate any help. Thanks. Abe
