I happened to fly through rural Pennsylvania low and slow tonight around KBTP, Butler PA and ran across some major terrain errors. Three terrain spikes that looked like the next coming of Devils Tower. Not sure if others have seen this in this area? is there a known fix for this? Im sure somebody must have produced a flatten file to fix? Eric

I am fairly new to FS and needed some practice flying in bad weather. No better way than to go into a Tropical storm. As we speak, it is located off the Georgia coast. Pick an airport near the GA coast, set the Weather to update every 15mins and fly the C172 east to test your bad weather skills.

Thought it would be interesting to see whether simmers prefer a complex aircraft (737,777 or Modern Business jets) that use a fully simulated FMS or the Default GPS for flight planning.

Hi I can see where you have AHM and DHM shortcut however they are not separated I like to have DHM on all the time but I would prefer to toggle AHM off during approach and takeoff as I still need forward vision for instruments amongst others. Is there a way to toggle it separably? if not no big deal I will just keep using the mouse cheers

Hi folks In these days I still see couple of videos on this program and I had couple of questions need to answer before the buying. In the videos I dont see any traffic control in this program and yes I see in some videos during landings or even takeoff's there is some traffic cross the runway during the landing s or takeoffs. And yes that is meaning pro atc does not control or handled the other traffic in the airport, is that true the pro atc does not control or navigate the airport traffic ? I downloaded the Honeywell FMC and was a little disappointed. I tried to select SIDS and STARS, but all of them were unavailable. So, how can I get SIDS and STARS to be used in this FMC? The manual says there are SIDS and STARS, but I couldn't select any. Thanks.

which airline would you choose? I have been thinking about his and looking at the fleets of various carriers but still not sure which I would choose. Looking for one with 777-300ER, 767-300ER, 737NGX, A330, MD-11, 747-400/800. Not easy to find one that has all of that. Would also like to include a regional that has the Dash 8 Q400. Maybe American/USAir combo comes the closest?

I sometimes hear my own pilot tell the ATC on approach that I am 'with Delta' or 'with Kilo' -anyone know what that means?

Hi all I have just flown back from HESH to EGNT on vatsim. When arriving into EGNT at night time all of a sudden my 737 ngx vc went very laggy when looking around with hatswitch. My sim was showing 21-30 FPS I had ftx global vector on with night lighting. Is there any fix for this ? This has probably been discussed before but I want to take a different approach to re building FSX, here is my cunning plan. My current FSX path is simply G:\Flight Simulator X which works just fine except for one important aircraft add on. I intend to create a new folder on my G drive named Microsoft Games and install FSX in there. Now before I activate it or un pack it by opening the interface, I plan on copy and pasting my existing SIMOBJECTS, EFFECTS, GAUGES & SOUNDS folders into the new FSX installation, when everything shows up in the new FSX root I will delete the old FSX completely and activate and unpack the new FSX then add Acceleration. I am flying out of KMCO in the USA. I am trying to figure out why my flight planner (EFB for example) show that gate 12 (Medium Gate) exists, but the 737NGX says it doesn't. FSX also thinks it exists because I am able to load and place the NGX at Gate 12 and it is right where EFB said it will be, I loaded the airport into "Airport Design Editor" and it has different numbers (I think it shows gate 21 where 12 is in EFB if I remember correctly, there is no 12 in there). I have seen various threads over AVSIM asking for advice on ATC add-ons, so I thought I would make a comparison between the top three. The forth one has very bad reviews, is said to be unfinished and had rumours of bad support, so I cannot in good conscious recommend it. Does this FMC have SIDS and STARS. If it does have SIDS and STARS, are these current ones or outdated? I really have no idea how this FMC works.

Does anyone with this model have the problem I have when flying it? I did what I usually do with a new a/craft, that is find out enough to start the engines then go for a hand fly around an airfield. This has worked for all my PMDG a/craft. However, this one has me beat. I'm sure it's me doing something wrong but I cannot get it to fly level, it keeps banking to the left. I guessed it might be to do with trimmimg and tried using the trim controls but this seemed to make the situation worse. Is this plane really so difficult to fly? Any comments would be appreciated. I have FTX Global etc, and sometimes fly in Asia. Not often, but I just returned from HK and China on business. So I i switched to FTX Global scenery and flew out of VHHH. First thing I noticed was that the water was all wrong. (not FTX issue...water class issue.) So I made my own water class that matches and looks great. The problem is that the FTX global scenery looks nothing like whats appropriate for the region. I wouldnt expect it to really. The generic city tiles stretch over the mountainous terrain and really look bad. Also the hills have nice fields on them, when reality is either heavy vegetation or a sky scraper apartment block! I didn't know where to best ask these 2 questions, because they fall into two sections, but perhaps you'll be kind and help me (which I always got here at Avsim). 1. When VAS is discussed, is that GPU ram or good ole regular RAM 2. This is not a phishing trip on release dates, but rather a request of a comment I read recently from PMDG. When the 777 SP1 gets released, if I buy the 777-200 will the SP1 changes be included in that download, OR will I still need to install SP1. Thank you so much for your help. Rob Martn

I love Dino cattaneo's T-45 Goshawk for FSX. Its almost my default aircraft when not flying big jets. However, i am enamored with the Hawk airframe and would like to fly European or other variants. I googled this and found the skysim Hawk, which looked GOOD, but also it seemed that its been pirated on a lot of torrent sites, so I have no confidence in the legitimacy of the download. Whats the best European BAE hawk I can get? Free or payware. Also a Legit purchase option. Would also appreciate any comments on comparison to Dino's freeware product which as far as I am concerned sets the bar. Thanks Eric

I am looking for suggestions for an exhaust smoke issue in FSX. For no apparent reason the add on jets are now belching thick black smoke and rather than a nice plume the smoke exits the jet pipe in black squares !!?? I suspect the EFFECTS folder is corrupt but any ideas for a fix would be welcome. Thanks. Buster.

I think it got broken somewhere. With addons like orbx pnw pfj or alaska and the tongass addon that come with custom waterclass the ocean boundaries are now sharp lines and squares/tiles instead of soft blendings. I tried unistalling reinstalling the addon areas to no avail. I returned Texture replacements like rex and hifi to the initial backups but it did not help. Also dx10 on/off did nothing. What could be the files responsible for this? Any ideas? Thank you!!

Flying around Hong Kong, I see vivid, turquoise water everywhere, and in film I've seen, that's not what it should look like! In other parts of the world, too, this glowing vivid, artigicial colour spoils otherwise wonderful scenery. I have REX overdrive, but tweaking water textures there doesn't seem to have changed anything at all. Is there anything else I can do?

I'm following the training progam set out in Real World Training for FSX, by Wiley Books and many of the flights are set around Duluth and the Mid West. I noticed that, despite setting WOAI at 100% there was zip at Duluth 'international'. In fact, I did a very bad thing and set UT2 to 100% at the same time .... But still nothing. UT2s GA I set to 70% in addition and all I got was a Citation and a Cessna 440. What's going on? Does anyone else see this?

My OPUSFSX can't loading weather from NOAA server, only read VATSIM server. But My TOPCAT very well load weather from NOAA server. What's Problem?
