In one of the Simflight newsgroups, there has been a discussion regarding people getting spyware into their computers after visiting a certain Fsim website.I don't want to start a discussion regarding the rights or wrongs of this or which website is involved -- what I do want to know is just how is this happening.As far I can ascertain , it seems to have something to do with pop-up adds on the site -- but my question is this. Just what is the process that allows this to happen? Are people clicking on these popups and asking for a programme to be downloaded? Do they have an insufficient security setting in their browser? I ahve a few questions about FS2002 - some weird bug-type things, but more likely things I'm doing wrong.1. When I use the flight planner, I typically do IFR, VOR to VOR, but I don't think that selection affects this problem. I follow all the ATC instructions from takeoff to the destination airport. Two annoying things happen as I approach the airport.A. While it does a good job of setting all my comm radios automatically (by me selecting the option in the ATC windows), it doesn't select the Nav1 radio for my approach into the destination airport. This means that as I approach the destination airport, I have to pause, go into the map icon, zoom down, and randomly click…

I notice that some aircraft have, in the cockpit view, great landing and taxi lights such as Milton's Dash 7, Capt. Sim 727, even the default 737 and others. Some have just landing lights (as least on my system) such as Mike Stone's 727 and others have none. What controls this and is it possible to add say taxi lights to an aircraft which already has landing lights. I don't seem to find the answer in the Aircraft.config files, is it a bmp file? I said it is a naive question. Thanks for any responses. David

I downloaded the latest rwyinfo gauge and the two data files and installed them into the fs2002 folder as was sugested in an early post. Most of the time when I click on the icon, the sims stops. It works only some times but mostly, it stops responding. What is up? Is this a bug in FS2k2. When it does work it works great. Just wish I could count on it not to fail. ThanksKSPI

Bonjour,Starting with FSUIPC 2.95, we can specify the visibility when there is rain or snow, or when the sky is overcast. Simultaneously, FS Meteo specifies the visibility through the METAR messages from the nearest weather station, but it also determines (if you allowed it) the visibility in case of rain/snow.Does any one know which instruction has priority over the others ?What figures do you give to FSUIPC for visibility when overcast or rain ? I personally use 300 (= 3 SM) to get rid of the blue horizon by bad weather, but the real visibility (as given by METAR messages) is often larger ! So, what is your experience ?ThanksAlain

Hi,Got the Avro Lancaster yesterday, very nice. As was indicated, the C172 sound package had to go. So, having several Merlin sound packages in my computer, I install one I had from a P38. The engine sound is terrable, muffled and garbled. The strange thing is that the touch down, gear and flap sounds are OK. I tried several more packages from Avsim, and that other place, even the one recommended in the attached docs, and they all produce the same bad sounds, but only the engine ones. Any ideas??? Vern Opperman is the one that found this little tidbit out.If you have two monitors there is a way to get to the second monitor with your mouse in full screen mode. He figured this out quite by accident and then being persistant in figuring out how he did it.Some of you may already know this trick but I have not seen it posted yet if it has.When you are in full screen mode move your mouse all the way up to the top of the monitor. You will see the mouse icon change to the resize icon. left click and hold then move your screen down a bit, and then move it all the way bake up again. Your mouse will now move from monitor to monitor through the newly created 'wormhole'.http://…

I just want to know why the only aircraft that I can actually get the spoilers (wing) to deploy upon landing is the Fokker 100/70. all other aircraft i have such as PIC and DF737 will not deploy the spoilers automatically on landing. is ther a way to fix this such as reassigning the keys to arm the spoilers? I find this problem odd as it does not seem to affect all aircraft as i thought it would (see Fokker 100/70. appreciate any tips with this problem.

Hi All,I have a strange problem I can't seem to solve. I have three computers that are networked for WidevieW. I recently installed the Greg Pepper Beech G18-S, and the Iberia DC3 by Jorge Salas and company, onto all three computers. On both the server, and client 1 (see below), both aircraft run flawlessly. However on client 2, FS2K2 crashes to the desktop as soon as I attempt to launch with either of these aircraft. All the other aircraft (including third party) run just fine. I've tried everything I can think of, including a nuke and pave of the OS, and fresh installation of FS2K2. But the problem persists. Any ideas from the clever clan of FS enthusiasts out there?And…

Hello,Many FS painters have painted a "ficticious" livery for Lufthansa German Airlines. It says in most read-me files "Lufthansa 2005" livery. Why is it there are so few first class biz jet panels and aircraft? Unfortunately the Falcon 50 is just too much for my feeble old 1GHz P3, so I fly the pathetic default lear, or add one of very few panels which are pretty good, but lacking as GMAX and have no 3D VCs. How many of you really would love a truly first class (and efficient!) biz jet?Noel

I AM USING NAV 3.1 BETA. I AM USING IT ON A SECOND NETWORK COMPUTER USING WIDEFS. PREVIOUSLY, WHILE USING IT ON THE NETWORKED COMPUTER, I WAS ABLE TO SEE AI AIRCRAFT DISPLAYED ON THE MOVING MAP ALONG WITH MY AIRCRAFT, HOWEVER, I HAD TO RECENTLY RE-INSTALL NAV 3.1 BETA, THE MOVING MAP ONLY SHOWS MY AIRCRAFT, NO AI AIRCRAFT. WHAT HAVE I LEFT OUT OR WHAT AM I MISSING. THANKS IN ADVANCE.
