Remember ATP? I would love to see an option in the new FS that would enable the user to start a career. Start by choosing an airline (or be randomly assigned to one), pick a home airport, and be assigned daily flight schedules with random weather conditions along the way. Be presented with your duties for the day and the amount of PAX on each leg, and off you go. You would be rated for your skills, and would be introduced to new airplanes and challenges as your career grows, and perhaps be scouted by competing airlines. Oh to dream...this is flight with a purpose!I commend MS for their work on the upcoming release. I have always drooled over the prospect of a great …

Hey everyone :DAfter spending a little bit of time on the 30.82's, I've decided I want to "upgrade" my detonator drivers. Obviously, results will dramatically vary from system to system, but I wanted to get a general overview of what simmers like best.Between nVidia's "Offical" 40.72 and 41.09 detonator drivers, which one do you prefer. Which seems to work "better" in FS2k2? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :-)(I'm vary familar with detonator drivers, so feel free to get "technical" ;-) )Ryan-Flightpro08 :-cool VATSIM Pilot/ControllerZLA ARTCC Senior Controller (C-3)ASRC (Advanced Simulated Radar Client) Beta Tester-----------------------------My "Hom…

In response to the current AVSIM front page that the Microsoft team spends time on the AVSIM forums getting suggestions and ideas, let me throw this bone:WEATHER RADAR!Now that we have all these nice environment improvements, let's have RADAR tell us where the nasty stuff is so we can avoid it (or head for it and go for a bucking ride ;-)). I know, I know, no chance of it getting into CoF, I just wanted to toss in my $0.02.Best,Kenneth

The file names are runway_detail.bmp and taxiway_marks.bmp and should be located in the /TEXTURES/ folder. Thanks to anyone who helps!~Nickman

I've tried the ATA 25th Anniversary and United paint jobs by Ben Hewitt. On the ATA, the tail is blurry and the nose of the United is the same. It is fine when I first load the aircraft, but after 10 minutes or so in the cockpit, I go back outside and its totally messed up. I tried using imagetool to remove the mips, as instructed by someone over in the SS forum, but it was still happening. Can anyone help me. Is it the aircraft textures, or my system? I'm thinking it *might* have something to do with the fact that I don't use reflections.System:Gigabyte GA-7VRXPAthlon XP1800+GF3Ti200 (30.82)

As I heard that the MSFS developement team reads the forums, I thought mentioning a few little wishes that could be a great addition to the new FS version without allot of complicated integrations I guess!- Please create a seperate input keys for the nose wheel steering. It will be wonderful if the nose wheel is separated from the rudder for better dynamics finetuning. For now many dynamics designers are compromising the rudder response effect vs the nose wheel therefore the ground handling... Adding a couple of controls for the nose wheel on the keyboard and of course assignable to the joystick or other controller will be a great option and an interesting step in terms o…

Churches! Allmost every village has got at least 2 of them and they make fine horizon silhouettes. There must be a reason for ms to exclude them as there are so many famous churches out there. (usa are god-minded aren't they?)

Hi everyone,Maybe someone could tell me the history of Ariane aircraft design? I recently downloaded and bought their wonderful B-737 aircraft and it is wonderful (more pics to come soon in the avsim screen shot forum). I was thinking, though, why dont they have a forum like Captain Sim does?Have they had any other aircraft in the past as good as the GMAX 733?Any info appreciated. Still new to the payware community...lol.

Remember when FS2002 was first being promoted for release and the major guns of that were AI, ATC and auto gen?! Those were some big steps but also what they didnt mention was the small things that were not included in the press release like:Wheels that rollTaxiway markingSmoke on touch downDoors that openPushback featureRadios having a slaveExtra AI planesRunway lights at night getting brighter as you make straight inwater reflectionshoreline breaks and wavesaluminum reflectionsAdd to this list if you can think of any morebut what I am getting at is I believe that the next release 9.0 will be amazing. They have already announced some big improvements its the things tha…

Hi all,In my day job I teach Physics. As part of the course we mention the dangers of static charges, a particular example being the refuelling of airplanes and the need to connect the plane and the refuelling truck with a conducing wire to stop the build up of charge.Wee Alistair, great kid btw, asks, what happens in mid-air refuelling.Being an honest chap I say - actually I don't know but I'll try and find out.So I'm trying.Help, please. I'm sure some of you out there know the answer. My guess, the conducting wire is part of the refuelling rig. But my guesses are usually wrong :-(Thanks in advance,John

I recently up dated my video card from a Geforce2 Ti to a Geforce 4 Ti4200. The strange thing is I get higher frame rates in VC view than I do In 2D view. Example, going into O'Hare with geoff's Debonair in 2D view I was getting between 9 & 11 FPS but in VC view I was getting between 13 & 15 FPS. This is not the exception I always get higher FPS in VC mode than I do in 2D view. It dosen't matter which aircraft or which airport.Chuck
