Ok guys, I need some expert advice. I upgraded my computer from an Intel Celeron 950mhz (100mhz FSB), 288 megs SDRAM, Geforce 2 MX400 64 meg AGP 2x video card to the following: Athlon XP 2100+ CPU (266mhz FSB), VIA KT266A Chipset Motherboard 512 megs Kingston DDR DRAM Same video card as above but now running at 4x AGPOn my old system one could not reasonably expect blazing frames in FS2002 of course but it was certainly usable. The biggest frame killer with my old Celeron system was clouds, especially when using a complex panel such as 767PIC. A medium sized cumulus cloud formation would bring my computer to it's knees when flying through clouds in the 2D pane…

HiDoes anybody know any good realistic 737-200 JTD egines sounds for FS2k2 or any 737-300 CFM sounds. I'm already an owner of the DF/Ariane combo but to go with my YeoDesigns 732 I wouldn't mind having some realistic engines sounds. Thanks in advancePilot737

The latest release of CoF videos show some very interesting features. I'm particularly fascincated by the Cub video and how they got the scud clouds to hug the mountain ravines. For people that live in a mountainous region, you'll see some weather very simular to real life.I do have a question about something I saw in the DC-3 video. Do the gear on the real DC-3 retract simulanteously or independently? I'm not a DC-3 expert, but I thought the main gear operated independently of each other. This is a straight-forward question about the DC-3 itself, not the video. So please don't take this as criticism about the alpha version of CoF or what is displayed in the video.Bruce

Please don't take this the wrong way....but of all the planes we COULD have and all that we've been ASKING for as devotees of Microsoft's simulation products, do we really need or will we ever really use a Wright Bros. plane in FS 2004? I know it's called the History of Flight, and what would it be without it, but if History is correct, we won't need any navigational aids for this bird. Oh well, at least there are 26 or so planes included. Stan

Hey all!I have purchased 2 Saiteks. The first, an X36, which went out on me about a year into it. I then purchased an X45, which again, went out on me about a year, or so into it.I tried all the tech support options, & even ripped a chip out of the board inside the stick. All to no luck. So, I am looking for a QUALITY stick, that will last beyond a year with casual use, but that has a setup similiar to the Saitek. Money is not really a big option, but, nothing int he 4 figure range (is there such a stick?) please! Thanks in advance for any suggestion!

HI All,Just poke my head in here a minute for a quick observation . . .This is my sixth new version of Flight Simulator since I entered the hobby. And it's kind of funny that the same comments, expectations, and complaints get repeated over and over every time a new version is released."It's just a patch I have to pay for . . ." "Yeah, looks nice, but you'll probably need a 500 Mh and 64 Mb of RAM to run it. I'm not upgrading MY hardware just for a couple of new planes.""yeah, M$ isn't going to get any of my money. I'm not paying for anything they should have fixed with a free patch . . .". . .and so forth and so on . . .Although the faces may change in the community,…

Hi,has anybody bought the real Piper Meridian POH which is available from Flight1?I would like to know how it looks. Is it spiral bound? How is the layout? Is it worth to buy it?This plane is really a joy, i love it! It has an enormeous imersion factor! For me this is one of the best (if not THE best) airplane ever made for FS2002, although not cheap, its worth every cent! Congratulations to Flight1!!Any information on the POH is very welcomed.Cheers from germany,Michael

This is in support of a growing desire to have the DHC-2 Beaver as a default aircraft, since it is considered one of canada's three greatest achievements in aviation, it is a pioneer in many many senses of aviation (including giving birth to an industry in Canada, as well as an explosion of population in the north). In many ways the Beaver was soley responsibly for the sustainment of camps and towns in the far north of north america, and it has definitely been a pioneer in aviation greatness. That said, there is a missing aspect of amphibians in flightsim, with only a 206 on floats, one of the most expensive unrealistic floats to fly in the north, or the caribbean, AND …

I recently installed FSUIPC 2.96. Does this break FS Sky World SE's auto random cloud transitions.Everytime FSSE updates the active cloud textures, it goes through this process of 'phasing' out the old textures and phasing in the new. In the past, this 'phasing' in and out of cloud textures was reasonably seamless. However, after upgrading to FSUIPC 2.96, everytime FSSW sets a new cloud coverage (1/8, 2/8, 3/8, etc) - the weather is constantly cleared, then populated with clouds, then cleared again, then populated with a few more clouds, then cleared, then populated with even more clouds. This goes on for about 5 minutes, until FSSW finally stops monkeying with the cl…

During touchdown and as the airplne rolls on the ground(taxiing) I am getting a very scrachy sound and also the game starts to stutter. It happens with all the airplanes and it goes away when I turne off the sound(Q key). It never happens with any other sound. I tried reinstalling the game amd still happened. I believe the problem is sound card related. I have an Acoustic Edge 5.1 with the latest drivers. Any help would be really appreciated. Thx in advance.

I recently switched my operating system to Win2000 and the diagnostics program upon starting up says something to the effect that memory leaks could be a problem...I have had someone mention to me before that this could be the reason my computer seems to slow down after being on for a prolonged period of time...Can someone please explain this situation to me, or suggest something that I might do to "fix" this problem, or how to check to see if this is in fact a problem? Thanks in advance,Regards,Ted Panamarioff - sunny, warm, Kodiak, Alaska

I imagine that most, if not all, of the features are now frozen to permit an early summer release.Anyway, one easy (well, easy for me to ask anyway ;)) issue I'd like to see addressed is ATC acceptance of the IFR flightplan to the end. Instead of vectoring IFR planes long before entering the arrival area, messing up everything, I hope the controller will now direct us to fly the STAR including altitude crossing requirements that we lovingly put into our planning. Same of course for departures. An alternate solution would be that DPs and IAPs and STARs been scripted for every (or least some of the larger)airport. But that's daydreaming for the time being isn't it ?Dominique

As one poster in another thread stated they never fly the default aircraft in MSFS and neither do I.I guess my only wish for MSFS2004 would be to have a version that has no aircraft at all because as well I only fly add-on aircraft.I understand that we would still get the same old pirate request for gauges and such.

Does anyone use WideFS over a LAN and if so do you have any advise/tips for a newbie? I want to run FSNAV on a laptop while flying on my PC, is that possible? I try to install FSNAV on the laptop and it can't find FS2002 directory.

Hello,I was using the Wilco 767 for a flight for KBOS-EGLL in FS2002. Fully loaded and heavy load of fuel. On climb, I was only able to get about 1500-1700fpm above 25000 and ATC kept yelling about expediting climb to my cruisng altitude of FL370. After awhile, they cancelled my plan!! Is there any way to stop them from doing that? Thanks,Marchttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg

1) In FS2002, the "Boston.bgl" seems to represent a scenery inaccuracy not present in FS2000. The result is that the Boston Harbor Hotel (files: LDM_bos_roweswharf*.bmp) displays enormous windows on the two outer towers as opposed to the properly sized smaller windows. My fix for this in FS2002 was to use the "Boston.bgl" from FS2000. Please refer to attached pics.2) Trinity Church (files: LDM_bos_trinitychurch_*.bmp) has been a few blocks off in all versions. It should actually be just across the street from the new John Hancock building (LDM_bos_newjohnhancock_*.bmp). Please see attached pic.Looking forward to CoF!Cheers,Carlyle

Hi,I am running FS2002 on XP. Recently I have been getting fatal errors whilst flying from location to location. The error message includes:AppName: fs2002.exe AppVer: 8.0.0.10919 ModName: terrain.dllModVer: 8.0.0.10919 Offset: 00044a95Can anyone help me with this as it is driving me crazy. The only thing that I have installed recently was Sidewinder Force Feedback drivers. It doesn't matter where I am flying to and there is no set time into the flight. I have re-installed both XP and FS2002.Thanks.Dan

I have no idea what's going on. I've tried changing video card drivers to no avail. I have had this problem previously with the Project Fokker F70 now with all planes. THey just disintegrate into jagged pieces as does the scenery. Could it have something to do with Direct X 9 which I installed recently? I'm at a loss. Please help.
