I never saw EDDF mentioned in any preview of FS2004.As EDDF is the 2nd largest airport in Europe and I think the 5th largest in the world, I wonder if FS2004 finally does justice to this fact or if EDDF is again as simply and careless displayed in FS2004 as it is in FS2002.Wolfgang

Wolfko made a post about AI having lights on now during the day in CoF which he also posted a screenshot in this fourm. I noticed that by the looks of the other AI traffic CoF is now (99%) using parrells from that screen shot. But the thread got removed.Kilstorm

Yesterday I downloaded a little freeware program called FreeRAM XP Pro 1.31, installed it and decided to do a test. I restarted my computer and the program said it was optimizing memory. I have 512 Mb of RAM so the program showed (on the taskbar) 63% RAM free (325 MB). I started FS2002 (default at Meigs) and Activesky. I was having 17+ FPS (locked at 24). Minimized both programs and the icon on the taskbar showed 11% RAM free (52 MB). I right-clicked on the icon and selected "Autofree now" and after a few seconds I had 45% RAM free and the FPS within FS2002 jumped from 17+ to 23+.I know there can be no miracles but would like to know how these programs work and what they …

How realistic are the ATC coverage areas in FS2002?I ask because on a flight from Houston - Belize, I remained in contact with Houston Center throughout the trip. On another flight from Paris - Casablanca, Madrid Center controlled me until approach. Doesn't seem realistic, considering the distance and political boundaries between the ARTCC and destination airport... for example, Seattle and Vancouver have separate control centers, despite the relative proximity between the two cities.One that I'm certain is unrealistic is that over Pakistani airspace, I was controlled by Mumbai and Delhi Centers.But the one that really floored me... flying around Guam/Saipan, I was co…

I was wondering if fs2004 will have the same yellowish goldish shine like in fs2002. That to me does look realistic, comparing it to real photos. I would like to see some sunset pics with this on the aircraft.

Does anybody know if FS2004 will let the reverse thrust back the airplane up. FS2002's only slows you down to a stop but will not back you up. I hope this is fixed!

I'm sure we all fly with a variety of airline and GA aircraft. Regarding the airliner variety, there are some very nice complex 2D panels available from payware suppliers PSS- (B744,777,A320, Dash8); PIC (B757/767), DF (B737-3/400); RFP (B747-100/200/300) and maybe more.Then there are the stock FS panels for some of the above a/c, and finally some really nice free/shareware panels in the libraries that 3rd party designers have done (usually based on the FS stock panels, but not always).I'm wondering what your favorite panel is for the various aircraft that you fly? I can;'t get past the PIC panel, and (unrealistically) use it for a/c other than the 757/767, although it…

I just got some KPHX scenery, and it came with overlays. I moved the traffic in AITM, to 2PHX, and kept 50% at KPHX. It shows up on the timetable, but it still doesn't show up in the game. All it is is KPHX overpacked with aircraft, while 2PHX is empty. Help!

I downloaded crashbak 2a from the AVSIM library. Upon installation, Norton tells me that a temporary file (irsetup.exe) contains backdoor.lolok.b virus. Anyone else seen this? Is this a real virus or is norton mistaken? I had a previous version installed just fine, but not this one! Someone should check this out and if its real, the file should be repaired and/or pulled from AVSIM...sg

I just had a "real" emergency in FS for the first time that I can remember - I'm still not quite sure what happened. I was flying the AFG YS-11 for the first time after downloading it a few hours ago. The flight was IFR from KDTW to KORD and I'd been level at FL180 for a good 15 minutes or so heading direct GIJ and marveling at all the Ultimate Traffic AI in the corridor between DTW and ORD. All of a sudden BOTH engines died and wouldn't restart - I immediately made a right turn to the north and selected KJXN (Jackson, MI) as my dead stick landing site. I've posted this in the Library forum, but nobody seems to know the answer, so I'll try it here.There seems to be an aparent conflict with my firewall and being able to download from the library. When I try to download from library.avsim.net using my firewall, it just hangs there. If I disable the firewall, it downloads with no problems.I am using Zone Alarm 3.7.143.I've configured my firewall to accept 'library.avsim.net' as a trusted zone, but it still hangs.Does anybody out there know how to configure Zone Alarm to be able to download from the library?Any ideas?
