Now I know I can legitimately ask questions...I just have two of them if I may please.1. Can you confirm that selecting the "simple" clouds option tells the sim to display "2D" clouds, as in FS2002? This would seem to be a very attractive option for people such as me who were content with the FS2002 clouds on account of their negligible performance impact (even if they didn't look nearly as nice).2. The new GPS is supposedly a real performance hit. No suprise there. If such features as the moving colour map on the new GPS are disabled, does this lessen the performance hit?Thanks.

I'm doing a reinstallation of FS2002 and I'd like to find a copy of FSUIPC version 2.975 for my archives. The versions available for download at both Pete Dowson's page at www.schratti.com and in the AVSIM file library are both labelled 2.975 but when I examined the file properties they show "Version 2.974, made 14th March 2003."On the other hand, the version of of FSUIPC that is installed with the recently released FS Real Time 1.60 reads "Version 2.975, made 14th March 2003"Anyone knows where I can pick up a standalone copy of v.2.975?

Does anybody know if San Diego will be improved in the final release of FS2004. I heard that the Coronado bridge and Sea World tower is missing and they haven't added much else besides some boats in the water. If this is true it bites!

After a lot of trial and error, a couple of months ago I finally found the settings that on my system FS2002 runs better (funny it was so close to FS2004 release :-( )I have a problem that I only been aware of today... I noticed that with some complex planes/panels (I used the Beechjet 400A by Eaglesoft) I usually have 20+ FPS (locked at 25) but during turns the framerate goes way down to around 7+ FPS some times even less :-erksJust on a side note I don

I downloaded a replacment air file for the default Learjet 45, but the new file is very bad (when you have the autopilot on and go into a turn, the plane does not stay at altitude. It dropped from 32,000 feet to 14,000 feet) When I replaced the old air file I forgot to back up the original. Is there a way to get the original air file back from the FS2002 discs? If so how?

Have learned that the testing team is now free to discuss the details of the final (Gold) version of FS2004. I will be posting some screenshots shortly, and I will also post a brief thread here on configuring FS2004 for a slower system....-John

Hi guys,I'm having a little problem with my MSFS2002 sound particularly with my new computer. Here are the specs:Dell Dmension DIM 4450Pentium 4 CPU 2.53 GHz2.52 GHz256 MB of RAMI've updated the sound drivers with the automatic update feature included in the Windows XP setup, but no luck. The sound sort of sounds static; it jumps and skips and the whole simulator pauses while the sound catches up when I switch views, particularly from the cockpit to spot view. It gets really annoying and sometimes jacks me up when I fly and I end up crashing or just plain losing interest :) How do I fix this !????I might forget I wrote this...so could you please e-mail me your follow …

Beta testers:Does FS2004 have a file like 2002, called fs2004.cfg, where you can make the changes to clear up scenery, etc?I know this was a key file for users of FS2002, and I'm curious if this file, or something similar will be available in 2004.

Anyone able to comment on the one know bug of fs2002 that made flights into and out of west Palm Beach, FL (KPBI) impossible due to drop in frame rates of 3fps, if in CoF that bug has been fixed? I always considered it noise abatement but it would be nice to know if this is fixed. Bear your pretty good about giving info regarding important concerns. Can you tell us if its fixed?Kilstorm

I load up a flight from Providence, RI to Washington DC KPVD-KDCA. Get real weather and turn on FSFailure and S-Combo. The most recent thing I've changed in the sim is upgrading to the new Active Camera version. I use the default flight planner route and change alt to FL310. I fly the default 737 and everytime I get just pass the JFK vor my computer freezes up. I removed the Active Camera dll redo the flight and it is o.k. Any idea if the new active camera is not as stable as prior ad why does it lock up over JFK every time?Kilstorm

I currently have 54,287 flight plans in my Flightplan.txt file (mostly Project Ai). I just finished downloading Ultimate Traffic. Should I delete the current flight plans before activating Ultimate Traffic or leave them in place and activate Ultimate Traffic? I do not want a bunch of duplicate flightplans.Anybody have any cons or pros?

I've now seen "DVD" mentioned in more than one FS2004 blurb. I don't have a DVD drive on my PC - am I to understand that I need to get one in order to install "2K4"?I would prefer not to - my 20th century-vintage CDROM drive works just fine.thx,Dave Blevins
