Hi all.Last night when a couple of us were helping a friend to get up and running with Roger Wilco he made an interesting remark. He very quickly thought that RW uses a noice gate, i.e. that the software cuts off the sound if the input level is too low, even when using PTT. This technique is well known in for instance conference telephones. This, to me, can explain why some voices are stuttering, especially towards the end of sentences where some people lower their voices.This simply means that we need to attempt to keep our voices at a level, err... level when using RW. Does anyone know if and when Omega will put out drivers based on the new Catalyst 3.9 drivers?Also, I use Windows ME and the last update Omega drivers based on Catalyst 3.8 only updated the Windows XP version. Hope they update for ME this time also.

Has anyone used Dave O'Brien's Holloman, Andrews and Langley AFCADS in today's downloads available on the main page? Dave did not include his e-mail address so I can't contact him. In the readme he says to add KVPS to the airports.txt file. KVPS is Eglin AFB. Did he mean KLFI? I see that the coordinates given are slightly different than the coordinates in FS2004. Should we add these coordinates and if so will they overwrite the exising coordinates? He also mentions five sets of files that are needed for the AI aircraft. I installed the AFCAD's and all of the planes stated. I see no AI aircraft at any of the bases. Are there supposed to be AI at those airports? Thanks for …

Hello,Among all the add-ons, including FSMeteo, Activesky, FS2004 real weather, FSIUPC, et al, is there simply no way to have smooth wind transtition in FS2004? I've had so many approaches goofed up by radical wind shifts now using any kind of real weather that I'm just about ready to shelf FS2004 altogether and go with a finely tuned copy of FS2002 again. I like the new clouds, the eye candy, ect with FS2004, but I really can't continue to deal with the arcade style wind system anymore. I'd rather go back to the FS2002 version and have at least so modicum of real-world realism.Thank you for any insight.

Does anyone know how to put traffic in ANY airport? What I mean is, if you land at some little po-dunk airport, even with the traffic slider all the way at 100% I still don't see a soul; it's like being the 'omega man' pilot. There's zero activity. Apparently only certain airports react to the density slider?Also, another question. Let's say you fly into a NAS (Naval Air Station). If I have an F-16 loaded as one of my models, is it possible to not only add traffic to that airport, but make it a specific type (i.e. military?). Thanks in advance.

Why is it that if you fly out of Houston Intercontinental in FS9 you almost always are assigned runway 33R? It's the furthest runway from the terminal, for cryin' out loud! I sat in a line of 12 aircraft today trying to take off from 33R: All of the arrivals were on 33R also. You get 33R even if you have a wind from 145 at 9 knots!! I fly out of KIAH a lot and have never been assigned runway 15L. The only time I wasn't assigned runway 33R, I was assigned runway 9! Is there some way you can edit the primary choice of runway?Steve Lewis, KCLE

Ok I waited on these, did not try the omegas as I was running WIN 98 SE and did not really see a set that had ALL the improvements. I downloaded and followed the instructions on ATI's site for the install. Basically it says shutdown everything except systray and explorer and install over the top of the old drivers. While the menu flashing is gone I now have something else a bit annoying. If I switch from fullscreen to windowed or try to access menus, I get about a 2 second pause with a corrupted graphic screen (kind of what was there but jumbled and jaggedy) then the menu pops up and no flashing. I purchased Gibraltar 2004 from Sim Wings and it is a really nice scenery. Unfortunately, the default AFCAD for LXGB is NOTHING like the portrayed scenery.I have searched the forums and noticed file libraries for updated AFCAD's for this scenery in FS2002 format, but none in FS2004.I downloaded AFCAD2 and started working on updating the AFCAD, so at least the runway, taxiway and parking spaces would match.Unfortunately, I'm not to talented at it, and have gotten some progress on it, but it is very slow.Is there an experienced AFCAD designer who has already corrected LXGB for FS2k4 and if so, could you tell me where I can find it?Thanks in advance.(Still pluggin away.....…

The Twin Otter by Lago seems to be rather fragile when landing in water with the amphibious or float plane version. It seems to crash much easier then the other float planes I fly. Maybe I just land it too hard, but I was wondering what I would need to change the model.cfg to strengthen it up a bit.

I'm running fs9 with a radeon 9800pro. No matter what my settings are (mip-mapping, rendering to texture, etc...), I get HORRIBLE flickering of the distant horizon, which gets really disturbing when there are mountains far in the distance; it looks like a massive erthquake. Especially when panning in VC mode, trembling is so evident that my attention is totally distracted from flying. Not to mention that the whole thing is very far from being "as real as it gets". I've tried every combination of visibility settings, but I'm beginning to think it's a card or driver related problem.(happens both with CAT 3.7 and 3.8)Is anyone experiencing something similar? Well for the past 3 hours or so it's been raining pretty heavy here at KWWD. So I figured it would be kinda cool to fire up FS9 and fly from here to KPHL in some nasty weather.Well I clear temp internet files as was suggested and then download real weather through FS9--all I get is overcast and scattered clouds. Nothing like what is happening here in real time. I've noticed this before with the default weather program. Either Jeppeson is far from reality or the program just sucks period. I dunno.So, anybody recommend a beter alternative? I used to use FsMeteo in 2K2 but seems there are problems with that addon lately. Any ideas? Thanks!

Several threads indicate that lots of people are suddenly having unexplained catastrophic failures of FS9. Could the problem perhaps be a file called "railroadsu.zip" that 382 of us downloaded from the library yesterday? This seemed to be the cause of my problems.Others in a similar dramatic situation might try to remember whether they installed that new texture file; if they did so, they might try replacing it with the default texture to see if it solves the problem. Reports would be helpful to users and the developer (it could be a conflict with some particular setup, drivers, whatever).Wang

From another thread that was just too long:Is it possible to use MyT to generate a traffic.bgl with just GA and Military RANDOM traffic, while using UT to generate ACTUAL scheduled commercial traffic?Will these two programs cooperate in such a fashion?Also, since I don't own MyT - does it install GA AI models?Thanks!sg

Hi allUnusually I have a prob with FS9 I cant sort so Ill turn to the best in the world!I can get to load up but if I try to use traffic setting at 100 sim crashes with fs9.exe error in mod acontain.dll anyone know what is causing this.All was fine earlier today.Recompile of traffic .bgl does not help.Help appreciated.Sun
