I just got booted out of FS2004 in a flash and kicked back to my Windows XP Home Ed desktop 12 hours into a 13 hour flight (lucily I've saved it at intervals, so not all is lost). I was flying a MelJet 777 with a slightly modified default 777 panel. The booting out happened in a millisecond; it was as if FS2004 had never even been turned on.This stuff happened with a different a/c and a different panel a few days ago. It's happened several times using FS2004. Does anybody know what causes this?So frustrating: the sim works beautifully and now this. Appreciate any advice, thanks!JS

Where can I find textures for Project AI planes? I have the Cayman Aiways package and the planes have the old livery with the blue bottom. I would like to find the current livery for these planes, does avsim have something like that? what section of the library would they be in?

My system is approaching 2 years old, with the only addition being an updated video card. I hope the details appear below, but in case the first attempt at this doesn't work: - Pentium 4 2ghz, 512mb RDRAM, nVidia FX5900 128mb video card, Windows XP. Oh, and an unregistered FSUIPC version 3.04.Having moved up to FS9, the overall results are pretty good considering my system spec, particularly if I stick to the default aircraft, apart from a bit of the stuttering which seems to have come forward from Combat Flight Simulator 3.For more sophisticated aircraft, frame rates are reasonable for external views, even if Weather and Scenery are turned up to High or even Ultra High…

Hi,Among all turboprop released for FS9, there are only one which has very realistic turboprop sounds: the DASH 8 by Oleksiy Frolov. I wouls even say it has the real sound of that bird. All other, included all payware do not simulate the real noise of a prop pitch change from feather to low RPM and low RPM to High RPM.I know that Olek programmed his plane from scratch, avoiding all restriction of the FS internal machine, but here should be a way to get that fixed.I am a turboprop freak, real world pilot and always disappointed when downloading, or buying a turboprop, because the sounds are too far from what one feel when flying that kind of bird for real. Except the DASH8…

After creating and loading a Flight Plan while en route I may want to change the destination. ATC allows me to do that by bringing me back to the Flight Plan facility. After choosing the new destination is it correct that I then create a second Flight Plan, save it and load the new plan?

HI! I've just starting flying the Cheyenne (great plane and FDs), however, I always get the prop gearbox damage and subsequent engine failure. What am I doing wrong??I really only fly jets, so this is new to me. What is the protocol for feathering (e.g., autofeather), condition lever, and prop lever setting? I usually keep the prop lever full forward (or close to full) until out of climb, and the condition lever I lower a little as I climb towards high altitudes. I also keep my throttle about halfway (180-220 KIAS). Should I not autofeather on climb? Is there some other reason? I follow the checklists, but they don't seem to mention everything, nor does the POH.Th…

I'm perplexed - with the goofed up wind transitions that slam your aircraft around like violent wind shear every time you fly with any kind of real weather, why does anyone use this version of Flight Simulator?Having used it for a little over a month I've pretty much determined that the much touted new weather system in FS2004 is utterly useless with real world weather. I fail to see why any reputable sites like AVSIM, among others, gave FS2004 such glowing reviews. The weather system is terrible for gosh sakes! Perhaps hardcore simmers like myself are in the very small part of the total majority and this kind of thing simply isn't a widespread issue on such term…

FS2002 has stopped recognizing the winds I download with Active Sky and instead sets the wind to 000 at 00 kts. When I open up the advanced weather panel it shows zero wind from sea level to 99,000 feet. Clouds, temp, visibility and all other items from the metars do register correctly, it's just a problem with the wind. The wind also appears when I use the fs2002 real weather download, but who wants to use that.Any suggestions?BlairCYOW

Has anyone been inundated with these horrible pop ups from this company called Popupblocker.com? They use pop ups to advertise their pop up blocker. It's the only website I can see so far they does that. I can't figure out a way to get rid of them. I've got 'messenger' disabled, yet they still seem to be able to do it. I've sent a complaint to a website complaint and fraud site, but haven't heard anything yet. Very, very frustrating.

Hi guys,I'm confused on the correct procedure for operating constant speed prop aircraft in various flight configurations.I understand specific manifold pressure/rpm settings are specific to the aircraft, I just need guidance on general operation.First correct me if I'm wrong:takeoff - max rpm, max manifold pressure cruise climb - performance charts - generally the rpms and manifold pressure are pulled backcruise - performance charts - generally the rpms and manifold pressure are pulled backHere's where I get confused- cruise descent - reduce manifold pressure only, or reduce rpms AND manifold pressure? approach config - example - in a Cessna 177 - reduce from cruise spee…

Since my the throttle MS Sidewinder Precision 2 has ceased to function I need a new joystick but I find it hard to find any good alternative.I now have CH Pro Pedals USB and FS9. I wan't a joystick that works fine with FS9 but it should also work fine with other flightsims also it should not be very expensive. CH tells me that I can't mix USB and gameport devices. Does this mean only CH products? If not the joystich must have USB connection.I looked Wingman Digital 3D but I think it didn't feel good. I have had a Cyborg earlier which broke down. It feels somewhat bad to buy something I have had before and broke.Otherwise I think about MS Sidewinder Force feedback but I ha…

Hi all, I have encounted a major problem with FS9 this morning. Yesterday I was fly FS9, no problems and I was getting good FPS. Today I went to have a fly and now I have a major problem. When I am sitting in the default cessna (any aircraft for that matter) I am only getting 6-7FPS. Then when I throttle up and start to roll, my frames drop to 1FPS. The funny thing is that, once my wheels leave the ground, my frame go back up to 7-8FPS.This is only affecting my FS9. I have tried other games on my system and they all work fine. I have the latest drivers (52.16), and I have tried deleting my FS9.cfg file (still have the same problem)I dont understand it, yesterday I w…
