I'm building a machine for a friend so I have some good parts parts laying around the house right now, so I figured its a good time to experiment and see what FS2004 really needs. I used my system as the baseline (P2.4 533FSB running at 2.9 with 512MB PC2700 and a 4200Ti card and latest drivers) Everyone knows with AA and AF turned up on these cards they take a large hit in framerate. I ran a test with AA4 and AF8 at the default Seattle start up fair weather, all settings maxed out in the King Air... I got a pitiful 9 fps sitting on the ground. I am setting up my dual monitors in FS2002 and I have my 9800 Pro configured properly (expanded desktop), I can undock windows and move them over to screen #2 while in full screen mode on the primary monitor. The problem is that after I move the windows over I get "trapped" in the primary monitor and cannot access the windows that I have moved over to monitor #2. When I close FS I can freely go across both screens. Any ideas ?Mark.

Hello all, I have a pretty old machine that I have been running FS2002 and FS9 on. So far my performance has been ok but nothing near what it could be with a newer system. I will be getting a new high end system in the next month but will only be using it for work and not simming. My queston to you is will a new graphics card make much of a difference on my existing system, and what type of card would be good for my current system? Hey guys,I need a recommendation for a video card specifically for FS2004. I'm running a P4 2.26Ghz with 512mb of RAM and an 80gig HD, so the next logical thing to do is upgrade from my GeForce 4 MX440 card. I need something that's going to work well in FS2004 (I actually want to be able to see the new water effects), and give me good performance and quality with my machine. Price isn't a big issue. I have noticed that some of the time zones in FS2004 are not correct.For example, the United Arab Emirates in FS2004 is +3GMT when in real life it is +4GMT.The same goes with Oman, Bahrain, and Kuwait.Does anyone know if there is a fix for this?Regards

What gets in the way of flight simming at your place? Most likely, Im guessing, its family life. Feel bad sitting at the computer for hours leaving my loved ones alone. Lately my 9 year old has been interested in joining in, but he got mad when an AI Lufthansa A-340 ran over his cessna on final approach. What's it like for you out there....and are there any women out there who sim while their men are at work.

Hello to everybody. :-)I have just downloaded and installed Dimitri's fantastic An-26. I agree with previous posts that it is a tidy piece of work. I was not able to use the manual as the an26.doc (537kb) file causes my wordprocessor to crash. I have tried to download the complete package twice now with the same result. I have also noticed that when downloading this aircraft the download completes at 13,563 kb, not at 13,878 as stated in the file library. I was wondering if anyone could email me the manual? I'm having alot of trouble reading russian! :(

Hi All,I was wondering if there was a way that i can disable panning in the virtual cockpit. As i use vc the most, i would like to use the hat switch on my flight yoke the same way it does in the cockpit view.Is this possible?cheersMike

Hi, I'd like to know how to manually install a .exe program. I recently downloaded a scenery package and I am using fs2002. The .exe is not reconizing the fs2002 because this scenery is for 2004. I had read somewhere that it can be done manually but did not say how. Thank you, S.

I don't know what happened. I was able to run Powerstrip up until a few days ago, and I'm not sure if it was the wonderful Flight1 Meridian for 2004 that did it, or the installing of six, countem, six "critical upgrades" from MS. Unfortunately I did both of these around the same day, so I can't tell what happened. Unfort, 2 of the 6 were NOT removeable.Here's what it does now, which it never did before yesterday: when I use the hotkeys I set up with PS to change gamma, brightness, contrast, change desktop res or ANY hotkey commands, the system responds at a snails pace. Always before this, the sys would respond instantly to a change. It essentially gets bogged down …

I just upgraded to a eVGA GeForce FX5200 128meg video card. FS2004 runs great and looks so much better now. The only problem I have is that I do not have any 2D panels. The 3D panels work great. But, with the 2D panel, all I have is a big, black box where the panel should be. I am using Nvidia 43.45 drivers. Win98Any ideas as to what could be causing this? Thanks

When I first initialize the FMC, I pluf in the dep[arting and arriving airport (cyvr/cyyc) then the rest of the info and click next page and it always gives me a "not allowed" message. Any ideas? I worked the very first time I tried it a couple days ago. Thx

Hi allI downloaded Project GlobeTwotter DeHavilland DHC-6 Twin Otter and also a update so I could installed it in FS9 but I keep getting errors with these files, " dfd_romi.gau and gps500a.gau".FS9 says it will disable these gauges.any ideas as to what I can do to correct matters or are there any updated files I can use insteadMac

Anyone have any idea or experience on why when I launch FS2004 it says updating scenery then soon after stalls. This is a new phenomenon which suddenly occurred three days ago. The only new thing that I did was install the ATI Radeon 3.9 drivers (Which I have since uninstalled).ThanksShez

This is a LONG post!Hi All,Terblanche asked for a doc such as this and so I decided to do it for a few reasons. This doc does not really even have a LOT of FS2004 tweaks in it, but still, it's certainly not without them. A lot of people who already have their FS2004 tweaked won't find much new here if anything at all in the way of FS2004 specific tweaks. I am posting this here to see what folks think and was wondering if something like this is worth posting to the Avsim library.
