I have been flying the FSD Pilatus through Southern Utah and Colorado. There seems to be some strong winds out there and always seem to be a crosswind to my landing. I can get the aircraft to touchdown close to the center line but as soon as I set down I seem to start sliding sideways and almost flip over. I do not blame the aircraft. I just want to know if any one could give some advice or possibly point to a tutorial about landing tail draggers, crosswind or not.Thank youAndrew

Hi,With the availability of the newly available SRTM Europe data, several developers have released new mesh files.There are:- one from Pietro Mauri (not sure the whole Europe is already available). This one is free.- one from FSGenesis : good reputation, and very well priced at $9.95 for the whole europe.- one from Raimondo Taburet : much more expensive, probably prohibitive IMO.Knowing that all are based on the same source data, only the way the data has been processed can make a difference. For now, my preference would go to FSGenesis.Would anyone have any info on how they compare?Eric.

I took a shot of the RealAir Decathlon this morning that I really like... so much so, in fact, that I made it my desktop wallpaper. If you're interested in using it too, you can download it from my site at www.spottedantelope.com/bwomack/files/decathlon_1280.zip It's a bmp file sized at 1280x960, so if you're not running that rez on your desktop you'll have to set it to "stretch". It was taken at sunset after takeoff from Princess Juliana Int'l Airport. Hi,it should work with the European METAR format, I'm a German so I tested it with more European than US data and it worked.Wait for the next version to test, it should be on avsim this weekend or early next week.ByeMarkus

Hello, I have a problem that I cannot seem to fix. Every time I go to KLAX, the internal compass is switched around 180degrees (I am on runway 07L and the compass is reading 241, even in the Shift+Z thing, which is way off.) I have gone to the map and the thing on the bottom that tells you all the runway headings is even reversed, but when I checked the airport is AFCAD, it is fine. This is a very weird problem, and any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have been using FSMeteo V5.1 for a long time and it has generally served me well, even in FS2004. Recently, however, when I try to connect I get a message in the top window, "try to connect to server 200" and then "downloading winds" and then all I see now are 0 winds, with no clouds, and an altimeter set at 1111!!!! This happens regardless of my location. Is there a solution to this problem? Airbus

Hi Just picked up my new machine with Win XP. Now this machine has got all the XP udates on it,where as my last PC just had XP with no updates, ran great so why update windows. Whent for a spin last night useing the Dreamfleet Cessna 152 and noticed that the panel is not working. Is this a rusult of windows XP with all the updates. I have installed the 152 update but it made no diffirence. Can some one help please. Shaun.

More often these day, I run into the message "your computer does not have enough memory to run flight simulator".This is occurring only when accessing FS9.exe (504kb).I have 1.5mb system memory and GF5600 256 video memory. should be no problem and no other programs running in the background. I usuaaly notice this after adding new scenery, aircraft or panels. Then FS9 gets cantankerous and refuses to run. At some point later I can get in.I can run otherwise normally (1362kb)Any help is appreciated

I would like to do some re-painting of some default MS FS 2004 aircraft.I did it quite extensively in previous versions of MS Flight Sim.I have recently been opening and examining the different files of re-painted aircraft here on AVSIM.I have found strange, bizarre (to me anyway) .bmp images in those files. This kind of image may have been present in FS2004 although I can't seem to remember it as being so.What I'm referrring to, is this kind of file. ( below ) I wouldn't have any idea of how to work on it using Paint Shop Pro or any other graphical program. We all raved about the wondrous creation in FS2002 but this FS2004 version has to be the best of the best!!If you haven't already paid for the FS2k2 version and are still waiting to receive your e-mail with the d/l link, then don't hesitate, go buy this beauty. The detail is quite extraordinary, she flies to perfection and is very frame rate friendly. Just goes to show that if the talent and experience is there, it can be done and those excellent guys (and galls?!) at RealAir Simulations have certainly done it in spades.There are many fine 3rd party a/c now available for FS2004 but, IMHO, this one vies for the top spot accolade. Can anyone tell me how to generate a *.txt file in AFCAD v2.04, please?I have been trying to add EGHE to the list of airports in AOM but without success. EGHE does not appear in the World Aero Data listings. EGHE is included in FS9 scenery. I have tried typing in the lat/long/elev in the Airport Data fields of AOM Airports window with EGHE showing but AOM will not accept it. I have installed an AFCAD2 file 'AF2_EGHE.bgl' in the FS9 Addon Scenery/Scenery folder. I have tried to import this using the AFCAD button in the AOM Airports window without success. AOM Help says to import the *.txt version of the AFCAD file. I have AFCAD v2.04 installed and I can not find a way of g…

A couple of weeks ago I downloaded the above panel by Mackem Greg from Avsim. One of its features is an autoland system. Tried it out last night, but I couldn't get the autoland to work - OK until 50 feet from the ground, then either the plane goes nose up, stalls and crashes, or it goes nose down and crashes into the runway. Has anyone been able to get it working properly? If so, can you tell me what I am doing wrong. All of the pre-conditions are there, I have throttle to zero and I have tried reducing fuel. I have a FF2 joystick (although obviously I am not using it) - don't know whether this is having an effect.Thanks for any help.Boogie.

hi everyone, i have just recently purchased fs2004, my last sim being '98 :), and i am wondering what project ai is all about. i get the gist but not the details; do you have to switch off the AI traffic whilst using it? how many airlines should i install and does it become more crowded the more you install? or is it handled another way? also i have heard of the AFCAD files, now as there are 24000 odd airports, is it essential to have just certain ones? it seems rather daunting and i was not sure whether the AFCAD files are essential with PAI or not. right next question :) bear with me! the smaller airfields, does the pai air traffic go to them? i realise that the average…

When flying the PSS Airbus A320 it seems the nose of the bird is pitched too high when climbing at 1800FPM (speed at 250kts under 10,000ft). What setting in the aircraft.cfg file do I change to adjust the pitch of the nose while in flight. I notice this same thing in reverse when descending, the nose seems pitched too far down when descending. It looks to be only a slight adjustment as the problem is not bad. I've known from flying on both 757s and A320s that these aircraft's climb performance is better than most other jets in their class. So you should be able to climb at 2000FPM with an angle of attack a little less than other aircraft (I guess I'm explaining this …

Hi,I just installed the RealAir SF260 FS9 Update. When I try to start with a dark and cold cockpit (or shut down), I just can't get the engine started. I followed the checklist and tried the tips from the Readme, but to no avail. The engine just cranks and cranks. Out of 40 tries I got the engine running two times, but couldn't reproduce a setting to start up reliably.I hope somebody has a hint, or can tell me a good mechanic.Thanks,Oliver

I bought the Realair Decathlon about 2 hours ago, how long does it take to get the email link, I can't remember how long it took when I bought the 260 months ago.
