Is someone able to tell me what an AFCAD file is and what it does. I have been using Project AI and downloaded all the traffic files. But not sure what this AFCAD business is all about?

Hello All,Well, to say the least, I have suffered as many CTD's as anyone, lately. With the addition of scenery, AFCADS, aircraft, FSSE, Active Camera, and on, and on, and on.So, I decided to try eliminating ALL addon scenery, (just click it off at the scenery site and all its addons.)I decided to eliminate Active Camera, not to use added aircraft, not to use AFCADS, and begin to put them back in, one by one. We'll start with I have XP Pro, it works perfectly with every other program. I've updated the file system to NTFS, SAY GOODBYE FAT32!. I have my machine OC'd, but it fires up fine, there is no temp problem, my memory cks out great . . .so let's see what we will have…

In building my new computer I was just wandering if there would be any advantage (noticable) to putting FS9 on its own hard drive (36.7 GB Western Digital Raptor with it 10K rpm) as appose to just putting it on the main seagate 160GB serial ATA? If there is an advantage any advise on how to set it up if their is tweeks and what kind of preformance boost might I see?Any help would be great.NP

I don't know, but for all the hours Bill put into the KRDG scenery, it seems amazing. Probably the best regional airport done for FS IMHO. I helped Bill out and that may change my point of view but... nevertheless, I was shocked by the minimal ammount of feedback. So I'm asking you, what do you guys think of the scenery? *(I posted this here and not in the MAAM-SIM forum, because this will reach a large audience.):-jumpyCheck out my work: http://library.avsim.net/search.php?Search...Weik&CatID=Roothttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg------------------Kenneth WeikTWVA395 / [email protected]

Hi all, last year I posted a anouncement of a new project called 'GA AI Traffic generator'This programm is planned to give you the ability to generate 'realistic' GA AI traffic.Planed features are:+ Use of all installed airports, stock and additional AFCAD2 mades. 1. I've installed a couple of freeware planes in FS2004 and now I get the message about 3rd party software everytime I start the program. With FS2002 there was a fix, something like "modules_old" in the config file or something. The file that irritates FS2004 is FSSound.dll. Is there way to stop the pesky message?2. I've forgotten the keystrokes to display frame rates. Thanks in advance!Jim

Apparently, the utility gamexp.zip (Avsim library) really does turn off many WinXP services, thus speeding up gameplay (framerates). Trouble is: After your gaming session, you cannot then go back to your original Windows configuration settings, but only back to a generic configuration. Check out the forum at the URL included in gamexp.zip's readme: http://www.theorica.tkSeems to be some unhappy campers about what gamexp did to their network, email, web downloading etc.

Hi there, did anyone try this FPS fix, available in avsim's downloads today?I'm usually very careful when it comes to programs like cacheman etc., but since my PC isn't getting an upgrade anytime soon I thought I'd give it a try and ... oh boy. On my system it has the exact opposite effect it's supposed to have. I followed the instructions for install, reboot etc. and my system ran like my old PIII back in the day.Fortunately I was wise enough to create a restore point before installing this program, since the program will only let you reset to windows default settings, not the settings that you had prior to installing it.Just wondering if anyone had more positive experien…

Hi,Well I (tried to) fly the chopper in FS9 for the first time, from Acra to the Taj Mahal just a few miles East.Trying to hoover for landing the thing went berserk, rotating very fast in 3D and RISING!So I switched off the engine and kept soaring up to 500 feet before I stopped the 'flight'.Is this normal or 'As real as it gets'? :)voscon.

When flying online, do most of you lose your sound, or at least experience some sound problems? I can sometimes restore the sound by reloading the aircraft once I'm at cruise altitude, but still experience intermittent sound fluctuations.

Greetings all,I came across this chart, and I thought I'd give a shot on the approach to LSGS. First thing is that the chart labels the runway as 08/26 and in FS9,X-Plane and in real world, the runway is 07/25. Makes me wonder why?According to the attached chart, the runway is equipped with ILS/DME. In X-Plane, you get a DME reading for ISI but not in FS9. Is this another euro navaid that FS9 forgot to include?I also noticed that the LOC is not at the same place as the chart indicates. The ILS range is also lower than what the chart says.Well well. Does anybody have a fix for this?I appreicate your feedbacks.Best regards,Naresh

I fly FS2004 sometimes on my Compaq Evo N1000 Notebook. It has Pentium IV and 256K of RAM. But after about 45 minutes in the Sim, it shuts down the Notebook, turns it completely off. I went in and modified some settings, made them lower. Still no joy. It shouldn't be doing this. Anyone have an idea what's going on?dedeyeClueless in Seattle:-newbie

I have just downloaded and installed the latest FS2004 version of Bill Grabowskis' ERJ panel - coupled with Nick Bottamers' a/c model. Considering that this panel started out life in FS2000, it still has a LOT going for it - and dare I say it - would probably have to win the first prize for such a detailed panel coupled with longevity! What other freeware FS2000 panel with such advanced system implementation is still able to be used with FS2004?Good one Bill!!Barry

I've been through the relevant docs a bunch of times, and I must be missing something, but I can't get the FSUIPC AI levels hotkeys to do what I want them to. Using the registered version, the way I see it, we should be able to get a three position AI percent using two hotkeys. The first is the AI percentage toggle, which turns AI off if its on and to a defines percent if its off. The second is the AI level setting which sets AI to a preset percentage. In my experience, the two will not work together. I have set the toggle to off or 100%. I have set the other to 40%. My hope was that I could turn AI down to 40% in situations where FPS was suffering but tolerable, a…

In reading all the posts on the mysterious CTD issues I began to see some common elements: landclass and changing seasons. So, I tried to think of anything related to this that's changed from FS8. One thing is the new edge effect that FS adds to roads to give the impression of a shoulder or median. I think that what's happening is that FS is changing the landclass from what's already on the terrain in order to draw these edges.Playing around in the terrain.cfg file I was able to fix a problem with FS crashing with no add-ons or anything installed. Would some of you experiencing repeated CTDs try this and post your results?Just to recap, here's a way to trigger a CTD consi…

Never been able to use reverse thrust in FS9. The buckets only come out when I hold down the F2 Key and seem to keep trying to close. Also the aircraft does not slow down. I'm sure there is an explanation for this - but I'm new to big jets - usually fly small props or the MAAM B25 (truly excellent aircraft)Anyone give me a steer? ThanksKFD

Just read this:P4 performance enhancementNot owning a P4 or a dual system I haven't been able to test this out but it should work. After starting FS, go into task manager (CTRL_ALT_DEL)Select Processes tabRight click on FS9.exe, select "Set Affinity"Disable one of the two check boxes so that FS9 only runs on one virtual CPU.Do the same on any other running utilities and select the other virtual processor.Users who run a lot of extra software report as much as a doubling in frame rates. This, of course, assumes that hyperthreading is supported and enabled on your motherboard and BIOS settings. An even better (permanent) way of constraining FS9 to run on a single virtual CPU …

Hi folks!I've bought a new CPU recently and am quite disappointed by the performance with FS. I'm not sure what went wrong here but I get fps fluctuating between 5 and 15, giving me a lot of stutters here and there and this is at quiet Macau International. At places like LHR, LAX which I fly to more frequently is worse, especially when AI starts to move around.I have settings AA set at 2xQ, 80MB for PCI, high performance overall and MIP off in my video card and this I consider has degraded quite a bit of image quality but I still get frames like 6 or so. Most of my settings in FS are at 80% average. What's wrong? I think I might havre made the wrong decision to get the MX…
