I raised this in another thread -- which got a bit buried -- so I would like to ask the question again in a thread of it's own.When the FSD Navajo came out , there was much talk about it's flight damage modelling. Supposedly, if you flew it incorrectly -- engine settings, etc -- it would "break". However , I also noted lots of complaints about it and could never work out whether the model was working correctly and people were just not reading the a/c documentation -- or whether the a/c model itself had problems . I just realized, CTD =Crash-To-Desktop. Now, I just never have true crash to desktop problems which by my definition means that one second you are flying, the next, you are at your desktop without so much as a polite good-bye!, just BAM! .... What I get are the equally as rude BLACK screen, a lot of harddrive activity followed by a famous microsoft error message window with the usual options to look at the offending files, ect.ect. My QUESTION would be, is there a known difference between these two events. I wonder how the weather is simulated if I use timecompression.For example at time 8x during 10 minutes gametime, will the(nonstatic weather) weather change be estimated for 80 minutes or 10 minutes. If I use realtime weather I suppose it must 10 minutes.But if I use for example ActiveSky and use some archived weatherwill I get correct weather at the correct time?

A search resulted in no answers, so I hope someone can provide one.I have been trying to insert a PAPI4 light system on an existing runway (11 KORH), after inserting an ILS set up. Marker beacons can be inserted with no problem, but I can't seem to insert the PAPI4 lights. When I go to "Insert-Runway", I get the window which shows the needed parameters for creating a new runway. What I need to know is if the PAPI4 lights can be added to an existing runway? BTW, FS Nav 4.6 lists an ILS for KORH 29, but not for 11. I have had no trouble creating an ILS for runway 11, but can't find the way to install the PAPI4 for that runway.Thanks for your help.Chris

I tried to search on this topic in this forum, but unfortunately could not find a proper answer to my problem.I realize it might be a FS limitation, but I do not seem to be able to create a 'proper' overcast cloud deck.By the 'proper' I mean that while on top of it you cannot see the ground (see the pictures) then descending you fly into it and it gradually becomes darker and darker since the sunlight does not penetrate the lower parts of the cloud deck. Finally you break through the bottom of the deck gradually again, seeing the fluffy parts of the cloud bottom, not the pancake flat cloud bottom.I would like to see this kind of realistic weather condition in the FS, both…

I'm having serious problems with CTD's .........but strangely only in certain areas .I have the seasonal fix installed and always fly in Summer (very frustrating) but whatever I do I cannot complete a flight that starts or ends in the UK.This also happens in pockets around Europe mainly out of Frankfurt. I can fly anywhere else in the world (been flying in the US a lot but now want to return home)and all over Africa Asia and Australia and gues what?????? No problems.The few addon scenery's I have are in the flyable areas so it surely can't be them,I have tried taking out all the AFCAD's and then flying in those areas and still get CTD's. Fellow simmers, I wonder if I could ask your helpI've noticed on my recent flights that about 400 feet from touchdown, usually flying an ILS approach, the nose of my a/c suddenly pitches forward and looses the glideslope. It doesn't matter what airport (ie, which scenery designer) and has happened to me with the Posky 757 and IFDG A320 and A321. Is there something wrong with my sim (are we talking a dreaded re-instal) is it pilot error, or the aircraft? As I say, its only begun happening recently.I look forward to your observations.Rob

None of my default aircraft 2D panel's work. I can see the tool tips as I move the mouse around but I am just looking at a blank rectangle below the window view. All of my aircraft work in the virtual mode. I have the following add on aircraft and they all work in 2D mode. AllWe soon will have a couple of high powered video board offerings from Nvidia and Ati and already on the market are some very nice MB's and processor choices. Over the past years by looking at my hardware purchase receipts, I have either purchased a new MB or video card within 18 months of my last purchase. That time again is approaching. The reason I am asking for your opinions is my last purchase was both a MB and a video card (did well at the casino). This year I can only afford one or the other. I'd like to get a nice payware scenery located somewhere where there's sun and palm trees! I like the looks of Lago's Honolulu and newer Punta Cana sceneries, but I'm having a hard time deciding between the two. Could I have some opinions on this matter? Last night I went to fly and my gps is not working.I tried different aircraft and all I get is a dark screen,the Garmin 500 is there but the screen is dark.I have all the aircraft systems on and I loaded a flight plan but nothing on the gps.I need to know whats wrong as this has never happened before,any ideas on how to fix this? Does FS2004 include the Instructor Station add-on that came with FS2002?? It was a great feature that allowed you to set up a networked PC to act as an Instructor Console and change various FS parameters. If not, will the FS2002 Instructor Console work with FS2004??THANKS!!!FlyBoy Phil

I love setting different weather senarios in FS9 but would really like to find a way to implament a normal high/low average day temperature range! I live in Arizona , and as I "hunt and peck" this post the outside temperature at 4:25 AM is 60 degrees/F. The high today is 93!Thats a considerable spread! Does anyone know of a program that would inject this everyday temperature flucuation into FS9? The way it is now I set a temperature and it stays at that temperature no matter what time of day!(AS REAL AS IT GETS?) It would be cool to leave an airport at say 6:00 AM with a temp of 65 degrees/F and return a couple hours later and find it 78 degrees/F! Just a though…
