Like many of you, I have added on a variety of sceneries, terrain meshes etc. Most have gone into specific folders, but many have been installed into the fs9/addon scenery/scenery folder as advised by the scenery creator. Lately, I have noticed irregular layers, especially on airport runways which always cause my plane to sink below ground level. It has happened in widely separated regions from Idaho to Sarasota-Bradenton. So, my thinking is that I want to clear out the addon scenery/scenery folder and start fresh. Are there default sceneries that I should leve alone, or can I just do a clean sweep. Any other ideas about priority layering...for example, should the addon s…

wow, this DC-3 is something else. First time I've had to order a CD rather than download online, so I was a bit thrown off by that, but having used the FS2002 version I had an idea what I was looking forward to so I did it. Got an email from Bill Rambow at 12:40am AST a while back, prolly 10:40pm his time, clarifying something on my order--they work late obviously--and bingo, here it is. Cleared through customs and ready to load. OMG, some aircraft, this is going to be hours and hours of fun. They even went so far as to give you an option to allow regular steering rather than the real tail-dragger steering with differential brakes and throttle. I'm impressed. The sounds, …

Hi All,I have an actual flight manual for the T-34b Mentor, and apparently the nosewheel isn't active steering- you only steer with the brakes and the nosewheel castors freely. So was this an upgrade at some point to the real planes that isn't reflected in my manual, or is the Carenado model wrong in this regard(by offering a steerable nosewheel)?Best,Joel

Anyone else try and land one here? (even the 172 is a handful with a slight wind). An amazing place to land a plane to say the least. I have been having a blast landing Eric Dantes DH-6 twin otter here while doing some island hopping. For those that have not tried a landing here please do so, it's fun. Let me know what you think.See you in the fence...CYYZ

I've been using FSMetro for quite some time now and have been very happy with it in FS2k4. I like others have been disappointed in the abrupt changes in weather patterns as weather is updated every 15 minutes during flight. While rediscovering RFP 747 V2 and the new patch they just released, I kept running into FSMetro problems where the server was constantly down at Vatsim. I was given an option to use the 'downloaded weather and stay off line option'. When this would happen in the past I would just bit the bullet and us Flight Simulator's default downloaded weather from Jeppson. My flight was from Toronto to London's Heathrow airport so I thought what the heck I'll…

The hard edges of the clouds against the mountains I mean.I am running a P4 3.0 ghz, 1 gig corsair ram, ATI radeon 9800 pro

I understand that there are a number of cloud upgrade options for FS9. I have been using a 2D cirrus overcast set of textures by John Cillis that allows be to create a true overcast layer (so you cant see through when using 2D clouds). Is there now a comprehensive cloud upgrade that allows a true overcast layer with all cloud types while using 2D clouds?I know it can be done with 3D clouds, but I really prefer 2D ones and they are easier on my FPS. My primary interest is solid overcast for IFR approach practice.

A couple of people have asked for 2D panel footage, so here it is. It is probably boring for most people, since it is more technical/button pushing/switch throwing than a splashy show, but for those of you who are interested in the start to stop operations of Aeroworx's B200, this is the video for you. 26.04 MB / 14:20http://idratherbeflying.net/Videos/B2002DPanel.wmv

Hello, I know that I'll probally get answer to question that I have here in this website. I have Lago scenery for 2002 simulator and I have downloaded the 2004 version. My question is: Is the upgrade for this free or does one have to purchase new registration key? I have tried using my key for my original purchse but I keep getting wrong serial code message. I have looked at their website but unless I am overlooking, I don't see anything to this. I have tried contacting and posting in the forums but I need to register, which I already have done and activated but it still won't let me post. I come here for good help. Thank you much, S.

I have never really used the VC much - but the Antonov-14 has completely sucked me into using the VC and I am enjoying it. I have always understood that the FS2004 default a/c VCs are fully "clickable" and also that some, but not all, payware add-ons are fully flyable from the VC. For example, The Aeroworkx Kingair 200 is - but the Dreamfleet C310 isn't. However , I am now finding that the default a/c VCs are not fully clickable either-- the C172 battery switch turns on and off with the mouse , but the starter switch won't work using the mouse -- unless I am doing something wrong. So what is the truth of the matter - any VC flyers out there?Barry

Hello guys,I also made a video for our website use a while ago. I think its a quite good idea to replace some traditional review texts with such introducing videos. Interactive Ideas sent us their new Hong Kong 2004 scenery and I must say that its really a good one, very friendly on framerates.Size: ~50MBhttp://fsfiles.net/index.php?act=getfile&id=86058I think I've made this one in Windows Movie Maker as I can remember, but I'm planning to create next ones in Premiere Pro and encode to Divx.Note that its not so good like Todd's ones, but Im a beginner! :)

In the file library, a 767-300 appears with the label "IFS Boeing 767-300ER EL-AL v1.4" and is listed as an "original" aircraft. But the readme indicates you have to extract the package to see what authors contributed. One pet peeve of mine are ppl uploading large packages to the library here as "original" aircraft, only to find that they are compilations of previously released aircraft, panels, repaints, etc--and it's often done without any work on the author's part other than creating a self extracting exe with work done from everyone but the author. So it leaves me a bit curious--has anyone downloaded this package? If so, what pieces are the work of the person who up…

Hi all... judging by my web stats, my videos are pretty popular! I've gotten more bandwith usage today and yesterday than the entire time I've had my website. Here's what they are as of 6/25/04, 12:30 AM, Pacific Time:24 Jun 2004 Visits 191 Pages 572 Hits 666 Bandwith Usage 3.17 GB 25 Jun 2004 Visits 42 Pages 99 Hits 105 Bandwith Usage 915.21 MB Pretty busy! Well, guess what... I've got another one for you all... two of them... One flight but two parts. First one, of course, is the departure and cruise, and the second, naturally, is the arrival and landing... however, the first attempt was a go around, so you'll see two final approaches. Lots of turbulence and lighting ad…

Last night I downloaded a freeware DC-10. I engaged the Auto Pilot and locked onto the ILS. Then, I noticed a button labled "Auto Land" on the panel. So I turned it on. Just befoe touch down, I turned off the auto speed control, and watched to see what would happen. The plan auto Landed! Is this a real control, on big jets? I have not seen it before on my other airplanes? If it really exist, then what does this do for the pilot with regard to procedures for minimums? And last, I guess FS9 really support this feature, as it did seem to work unless I just lucked out with this landing. Thanks, jim

Anyone know where one can download some nice 2D cockpit sideviews for a CRJ, or a panel which contain some nice 2D sideviews? Thanks RJ

Good morning/evening/(night?) gentlemen,I've been simming since FS4. So, I am somewhat experienced, but there's one thing I never ever managed to do correctly - an ILS approach. Maybe I'm doing something wrong (or maybe, then, I'm just not good at this!). In FS2004, for instance, I've tried setting just NAV1 to the correct ILS frequency, and I've also tried setting both NAV1 and NAV2 to that frequency - and then going into APP mode, of course, that I know -, but to no avail. I've tried intercepting the glideslope at 4000 ft, 3000 ft, 2000 ft, but the result is always similar (read: not good). Here's what happens: the aircraft usually veers suddenly to the right, or starts…

Dear SimmersI have NO (zero, geen, keine) weather selected in FS2004. Nothing in the clouds section of FSUIPC, not other program running, NOTHING ... and still these clouds pop up everywhere? (look at pics)Those in the distance are little boxes and with sun set you could see the boxes around them.Strange?Could someone explain it to me please?RegardsTerblanche

Is there anything I can do to get rid of the generic water textures that draw in the distance, especially when flying higher than FL20? I have tried all types of add-on water and everything causes this problem. Is there any add-on water that works better? or are fs9.cfg settings I can change? I fly with real weather so changing the visibility everytime isn't an option. Thanks!
