I've had good success in the recent past loading freeware planes from here at Avsim, and have been enjoying them for the better part of 2 months now.. Anyways, last night I tried to load up erick cantu's 737-200 using all of the instructions and download's available at tinmouse.org Well, this didn't go so well for me.. I freaked out when I first booted up fs9, and it gave me the error for fssound.dll. Well, I didn't have too much of an attachment to any of the freeware planes I'd downloaded, so I simply uninstalled FS9, and reinstalled it.. Well, I go to load it for the very first time after the reinstall, and gives me the SAME ERROR! Right off the bat, without any free…

From Ariane's news page: "Unrelated Third Party Forum PostingsA posting on a certain forum* stated that our systems do not have items like a simple PROGRESS PAGE (a Boeing Ng aircraft canot claim to have an ACCURATE managed SYSTEM without a PROGRESS PAGE)!Anyone using our advanced FMC will know that not only does our FMC feature a PROGRESS PAGE but also features a fully operational LEGS PAGE that actually COMPUTES changes in ALT and SPD as they adjust to re-managed settings for TOC and TOD.*We refuse to promote the forum but will continue to retain all copies of the postings.Note for Forum PostersWe understand that the idea of forums is that they are there to help users…

FS2002 gives coordinate info in deg, min, sec format. I found a calculator program on the internet that converts into decimal format (I need decimal format so that can do calculations more easily). How do these values (in decimal format) translate into meters or feet? Thanks, Christine.

Why is it that the Manchester scenery made by UK2000 is $24.95 (USD) at SimMarket, but it's only $19.31 (USD) at the UK2000 web site? Is it the same scenery? I mean you don't get anything different in one than the other right?

Greetings fellow simmers. This is an apology from me to anyone who downloaded my recent AF2 file for EGPE (Inverness, Scotland). Those of you who downloaded it will have already found that it is seriously flawed. After writing it I checked it installed okay and was happy it showed in the airport info from the map. Unfortunately it doesn't work. I haven't a clue why. The glide path shows on the GPS map but I cannot get anything to fly correctly along it. In addition the option to select the ILS approach does NOT show in the GPS. I know there is some kind of issue with ILS in default airports and default combined DME/VOR's so I changed the default DME/VOR to a VOR only …

I hate to say this, but I need to remove the program GA traffic, the flight plans esp.. How is this accomplished? I couldn't seem to figure it out. I LOVE THE PROGRAM, I just got too big of a performance hit. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello!I have been using the default panel in FS9 for the B777 and B747 for some time now and I would like to update the default ones with one of the panels in the FS2004 panel library, but there are so many that I don't know which one to start with.so...I would like to know which ones you all are using and like the best! If you could please include the avsim file-name and author name in your post for your favorite B777 & B747 panels, that would be great! This will help me narrow my search down to the ones that are being used out there with good results in sim-land.Thanks for your help!Scott :-smile12FAA Certified Flight Instructor & ATP - KCOS

Look at my pics! Taken over Switzerland with FlyLogic's SwissPro photoreal scenery and mesh ...Isn't it a tripple whao - whaao - whaaao? They don't have to do the whole world, but they could start with Europe and maybe South Africa :-) (just joking!)Have a look at their site for more info:http://www.flylogicsoftware.com/site/frameset_en.htmRegards from Cape TownTerblanche

KEYWORDS : NORTHERN LIGHTS | AURORA BOREALISAbout this subject quite a number of messages have been posted. The phenomena turns out to show absolutely at random circumstances. Whenever you are lucky to see it and note all particulars of settings, date, time, place and season, you won't see it show up again next time under quite the same circumstances. In C:Program Files Microsoft Flightsimulator 9 Effects, there are 3 sub-files to be found named fx.Aurora1.fx / fx.Aurora2.fx / fx.Aurora3.fxI wonder if some program-technician in the AVSIM community can give us the hint how to alter one or more parameters in those subfiles, in order to have the lightshow start up, each time whe…

I don't know how much interest there will be in this. If you're looking, though, for a new place to fly, may I recommend Japan? I've been flying there (not exclusively, but regularly) for two months, and the landscape is quite dramatic.Looking at the entry for Japan in the CIA World Fact Book, I am beginning to see why. In area, the country of Japan is roughly comparable to the state of California, but only 12 percent of the land is flat enough to grow crops on. Translation: the mountains are not Himalayan in scale, but they are dense. This is a rugged country. I'll add that Japan, like California, has mountains and ocean in close proximity.I've compiled some screenshots …

Hi all,I Use Ultimate traffic, happy user indeed. I recall some time ago that the textures and models of AI (UT and PAI) can be downzised (textures) and that better models (Aiaardvark) are available... Did a search and found nothing conclusive... does anybody have any info or link to share there? My goal is to keep my actual % of ai, and improve performance on texture loading displaying. and YES save a couple FPS here and there. Thanks guysSTART EDIT**(I know how to do use a graphic program... what I need to know is the best settings 16 bit, eliminate Alpha Channel, Texture size etc..)END EDIT**

What is the correct scenery setting for best viewing the scenery in FS2004 after using FS2002 and going now to FS2004 when I do a spot view and look around the parking spots and the runways FS2002 looks better than FS2004.I,m shure it's just some setting as I have a fast computer and video card with 256 ram on the video. Can anyone please give me some setting please ?Thanks for your help.Scott

Anyone on here remember flying that *amazing* sim?! Its very dated now of course (graphically) but as far as the flight physics goes it feels (to me at least) far far superior to MSFS. You could almost feel the mass behind you as you turned finals in the heavy jets in that simulation. You could actually fly to a schedule and were graded at the end of a flight. And then came the ATP check-ride!The sim came with a pack of high-altitude jet-navigation charts with all the jet routes laid out (just like the real thing). The manual had a stack of approach plates in the back too. The flight-realism was just excellent - and still is. And whats more it had ATC! I hope the next ver…

Tired of hassling with stutters and lousy frame rates in FS9, and don't want to spend 3 grand on a new computer that is no gaurantee to run FS9 without problems? Then liberate yourself by selecting "simple clouds" in the FS9/Display/weather drop-down menu, and watch your frame rates DOUBLE! No kidding, you just have to live without the graphic (admittedly nice)cloud textures in FS9, though since I mostly fly airliners IFR, the performance boost more than compensates for the graphics sacrifice. Use the other clouds for screenshots, and use the simple clouds when you want to fly! Simming and hand flying is fun again. Enjoy!http://www.2decker.com/media/solent1-2.JPGAlex Chri…

The autopilot knobs/switch above the EPR gauges, instead of being knobs, are big orange balls that aren't supposed to be there. I think the panel is using the wrong gauges or something. Also, when I turn the Nav VOR knobs they don't change the frequency. Anyone help?

Fellow Captains,I understand the model differences between a 737-100, 200, 200 Adv, 300, etc. But, do you know what's the difference between a 737-201/Adv, 737-229/Adv, 737-222, 737-228/Adv, etc. I'm refering to the -2xx part. What does it denote? Dave Vega

Hi there!!! I think that I had found (for sure not discovered) what it looks like black holes in the scenery files of FS2004. It happened already three times out of the north coast of Scotland. The monitor goes black and the simulator reboots automatically but not before reporting the incident to MS. I think I saw something like this reported in the forum a while back but who knows where now. Any comments.Thanks,MABE:-hmmm

This may be a dumb question, but why is it that sometimes the approach autopilot will fly me down to the runway, and other times it will keep me on course but won't control altitude at all? Is it different between different planes, or is there something I'm doing which is preventing it from working? Last night, for example, flying one of the CRJ addons into Lisbon I just had to take over a few hundred feet up for the final touchdown, whereas flying a 737 addon into Frankfurt I had to control the altitude manually all the way down... staying off the stick just left me pretty much in level flight (and yes, I'm 99% sure I did have the altitude autopilot off :)).Also, is ther…
