hiI installed yesterday the new Aeroworx freeware Cape Town FACT scenery. I installed it as instructed in the readme and I dont have any previous version of the scenery. I started FS2004 and loaded FACT from the menu. FS2004 crashed to desktop when the load slider reached 51%. When I removed the scenery and loaded FACT again FS2004 loaded normally without errors so it was the new scenery that caused the crash :(The same thing happened when I tried to load the new updated FAJS Johannesburg Int'l scenery. When I use the older FAJS scenery she loads fine. I would like to fly to these beautiful airports but cannot even load them :( I have installed thousands of sceneries sinc…

I have just reinstalled FS9 and now, when I try to load any Airbus, get the above error message. I am using exactly the same sound files as before and exactly the same aircraft.cfg files (where the sound entry points to a blank, i.e. "sound= " .... the sound folder is just called 'sound'). Before I had no problems at all - I am at a loss to explain this, nothing I can see is different, unless there is a dll file missing somewhere or somehow my fs9.cfg file has been messed up.Does anyone have any leads here? Thank you.Martin

I attempted a long distance flight in the BAW Project Opensky 747 last week and I was appalled.I loaaded her up to MTOW in PAX and fuel and set off from London to Singapore. For starters I was able to easily soar straight on up to 41,000ft, with no speed rest to burn off weight it handled more like a fighter jet, light and sporty. When I used the time acceleration for a while and then did some fuel calculations I found that I had enough fuel on board to fly to at least KSFO via Japan, and probably back again! When I landed in Chanhia I had 52% fuel on board.Surely thats not right.... is it?Can anyone suggest a "good" flight model , cfg and air file for the default 744? I am…

I have recently downloaded V Teluff's excellent AI display. Unfortunately, it can only be used in a window and therefore with FS9 in full screen mode.As full screen mode is much more realistic, does anyone know of a similar programme that will provide a display in fullscreen mode [a la FS Navigator etc]?

Aerosoft has airport scenery of Zurich and Geneva for FS2004, but the only way to get it is to order the CD. I was wondering if these products are available in stores like Best Buy, Gamestop, or Compusa? For me it is not worth ordering the CD version online. The price for Geneva is $32.34 (USD) plus $25.92 for the shipping costs! (Same prices for Zurich) I wish they make these direct download products.

This morning while looking for online versions of the Low-Altitude Enroute series (which I didn't find), I stumbled onto something called the Raster Roamer http://geoengine.nga.mil/geospatial/SW_TOO.../rast_roam.html, which is maintained by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. This is the U.S. agency that creates basic aeronautical charts for areas not covered by NACO (e.g., all of Asia). There are two levels of chart: Operational Navigation Charts (ONCs) and Tactical Pilotage Charts (TPCs). ONCs are made to a scale of 1:1,000,000 (same as WACs). TPCs are made to a scale of 1:500,000 (same as VFR sectionals). These charts are NOT updated on a regular basis, and th…

I know its a stupid question but I can't get rid of a loud click every time I use my mouse to click on a button in FS9. It only happens when I'm in FS9. I've turned off all chimes, warbles, and associated beeps and buzzers, but the clicks have resisted all my attempts to remove them. Have I got a virus? I'm running XP Pro. Help, please, this is driving me nuts!! :-grr

I've decided that I am going to start taking flying lessons once I've got some headway on getting the kids through college. Towards that end, I want to get back to basics a bit with FS9 and practice procedures in a trainer (as much as I like buzzing around in my SF.260).I have the RealAir update to the default C-172, and I really like the air file, but the virtual cockpit doesn't really satisfy that part of me that still wants eye candy -- especially with the gaps in the polygons to the rear when you raise your viewpoint, and the lack of an engine cowling.I am looking at the Flight1 152, which seems very nice, and the world-of-mouth is good. It seems like most of the schoo…

Does anybody know a way (in FS9 or some add-on) to display simulation time without going on the Time/Season page, which pauses the sim? Not all aircraft panels have a readily accessible readout.I would find this very useful, for instance when monitoring AI departures/arrivals.Thanks,Phil

I've got a CH Yoke and Pedals, gameport, which I've been happy with for a number of years. When I updated my machine a couple of years ago, I had to add a card to get gameport capability. I'd like to upgrade to a newer machine without gameport using a gameport-to-USB adapter. I bought one from Radio Shack a couple of weeks ago, but I can't get it to correctly identify all the buttons. Some threads here indicate that people have made this work, including using the CH software to enable the toebrakes. If you have this working, even without toebrakes, how did you do it? Are you using the Radio Shack adapter, or someone else's? How did you configure the CH software? (I …

Okay, I did a search and turned up nothing which makes me wonder if I'm just a bonehead but I have been using the FS sims since FS98 and have never had this problem. When I view the nav log and then attempt to print it, the full screen FS window reverts back to my desktop as if switching applications and then... nothing happens. No printer icon, no activity, just a FS2004 button-click sound.I've chekced printer settings and all are normal. This is my first install of 2004 and a return to the forums after a long absence. I'm embarrassed to ask this but does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

  18. Folks,While flying an approach to EGSS (London Stansted) RWY 25 I noticed that my ILS readout is lacking glideslope indications. This is only happening at several airports, namely EGSS runway 25, EGKK Rwy 26L, EDHL RWY 25 and some others. The glideslope is missing at one side of the approach only. I have checked my approach charts and it is ILS/GS/DME approach, not just the Localiser approach.Since this area I have covered with freeware scenery I tried to remove the add-on scenery and check it with default scenery - same thing - no glideslope. Please help me with your hints folks,ThanksDom

Hi all, does anyone have a realistic cockpit environmental settings for FS2004? I remember when FS2004 came out there was a jpg download here on avsim which showed you how to setup the sound config in FS2004 to be more real from the cockpit. I showed what levels the envirornment, engines, ATC, nav......sounds should be at.Anyone remember? Thanks,Bill

Hey guys, this may sound like a dumb question, but is there a quick and easy way to eliminate the default 737, 747, 777 and md-80 aircraft from showing up as Ai traffic, so that only the general aviation traffic remain at the relevant airports e.g small airfields? It's just that i want a clean slate for real ai traffic, without seeing the annoying landmark and pacifica etc, scattered around the airfield.Any help would be much appreciated, cheers.
