Hi guys.I just got a question from a friend that had seen a TV show where they flew around in a propeller plane that had a push-and-pull configuration. He asked me what the benefit is with that type of config. My answer (guess) was that it is a method of achieving greater reliability (twin engines) with minimal increase of drag (one body) compared to a "normal" twin engine plane that has three bodies (the crew compartment plus two engine compartments). The drawback would be inefficiency of the pushing propeller since the air that reaches it is disturbed by the pulling prop as well as the airplane body.Did I get it right or are there other benefits/drawbacks?

Hello Gang!If I create an IFR flight plan, whether with the FS2004 flight planner or with an external flight planner such as FSBuild, whenever I load the flight plan and locate my aircraft at the appropriate gate in my departure airport, I only get the ability to get ATIS and contact Ground - I do not get a Clearance choice. If the weather at the departure airport is IFR and I contact Ground to get ground clearance to the active, I get told that the airport is currently IFR and that the request is denied. In the mean time, all the other AI aircraft that are roaming around, do get clearance and ground handling. Is this a bug anyone else has noticed? Is there a way around…

After experimenting I found that when I load a flight with day textures FS crashes after it loads about 56%. If I load night textures it loads no problem. I tried a fresh Confg. file to no avail. I've had the sim forever and never had a problem. Have just purchased the Ariane B737Ng Alaskan Airlines VCe package. Downloaded 4 zip files (1 aircraft, 2 sound and 1 documentation). The 2 sound files were successfully installed but not the aircraft file. The following message appeared:CRC error - cannot install the following file: D:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9AircraftBoeing_737_900 Alaskan Airlines N305AStextureb737ng_parts_material_l.bmp .I re-downloaded the zip file three times using 3 separate PC's but the same error message appeared when installing them.Question: Anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions?I have emailed Ariane Support but they are probably busy tallying up their sales numbers.

Does anyone know of a FS Auto Start utility that will do the following?I have a saved flight that has my Panel settings because I use the Parhelia Tri Display configuration, so...With a saved flight automatically:(1) Set the AI Traffic % to 0(2) Automatically Sync FS Time to System Time.Ideally I would like to save the Panel configuration for this and any aircraft aircraft in the aircraft panel itself.Primarily this has to be done for Active Sky to get the weather to load correctly. Thanks!Barry

Bill, looks interesting. Do you find that one of the textures seems to "fit all" or do you change them back and forth. For sure I'd forget before the flight and end up with funny looking textures if some of them don't match. billg

I have downloaded the latest XP critical patches (July 14) an dnow find that my computer is doing strange things!(lol)IE6 is freezing, and worse than that Fs2004 is crashing the program at unexpected moments for no sim related reasons. This has never happened before, and I mean NEVER!Has anyone else noticed unusual things since least critical updates?I did a restore point so can go back, but updates seemed important.

If, like me, you have a "stable" of planes that you fly regularly, you might be finding it a bit of a pain to select your aircraft from the list that is sorted by manufacturer -- especially when the list is muddled with some add-ons that are listed by the developer. It's also a process that requires a couple of steps, because you also have to select your favorite livery once you've found the plane.I've implemented a workaround for this which works pretty well for me.For all of my favorite planes, I opened the aircraft.cfg and changed the "ui_manufacturer" to "_My Hangar", like this:ui_manufacturer=_My HangarI do this only for my preferred livery (or liveries) in the aircr…

Hello, I hope someone can help. I've checked the forums here and elsewhere, and haven't been able to figure this one out. My brakes work at the early stages of my flight, but after landing, they don't work, unless I hit the parking brake which just doesn't cut it. The brakes will work if I use the taxi-speed gauge I have installed, but when I push the "." key, nothing happens, same thing with the differential brakes, nothing happens. I have read it could be FSUIPC, FDC, or the taxi-speed program but I have read return posts saying that is not possible. I'm wondering if this is the problem:When my flightsim starts (FS9), the default aircraft is the Cessna. Then I switch to…

With the recent release of USA Roads, here is an interesting question. Does anyone plan on releasing an updated set of landclass files that would compliment the layout of actual placed roads? For one, I probably would be willing to pay for such an enhancement or product. The combination of the roads with correctly placed landclass files would be absolutely dynamite.

    1. Bojote mentioned that, in addition to the ONC and TPC resources I pointed out yesterday, the National Geospatial- Intelligence also has low altitude enroute charts for several areas outside of the United States. These aren't all online yet, but if you fly IFR you might pick up something useful here https://164.214.2.62/products/digitalaero/index.cfm 2. The Simradar Pilot's Network http://mylog.simradar.com/ -- which adds useful stuff to the FS9 kneepad -- now has a Chart link. Currently, this points to a (rather spotty) collection of approach plates. But there's also a link titled "Enroute charts." Click on it and you get the following message: "Coming Soon... How soon…

Hello,I just purchased a Saitek X-45 joystick/throttle combo and noticed that the X-45's throttle component has a detents on the throttle axis for idle and afterburner, respectively. Is there anyway I can map FS2004's reverse thrust to the X-45's idle detent setting without using the registered version of FSUPIC?Thank you.

I know the rear door is mapped to SFT+E but the cargo door has me totally baffled. I've been thru SFT+T,H,Q,D and a few letters that will rename nameless.Anyone steer me in the right direction?TksJoeT
