Before I try to deactivate every one of my scenery layers to try to find the culprit, has anyone had this problem before? I have several oversized Nordeste buildings appearing in KBOS. They only show up if you get to within about 2000 feet of them. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/85086.jpgAny ideas? :-( Please help.Misha

  3. It's $20 at CompUSA.I'm awfully tempted to purchase it - but my system is a PIII 1.2, 384 megs ram, and my video card is an old Diamond Viper 770 Ultra 32.I was planning on upgrading my vid card soon anyway; I'm wondering, though, if I'm going to get simply -terrible- performance. I know that's a relative term - any clue as to what I can expect performance wise, as compared to 2002, which runs pretty well on my system? Is anyone else running a relatively low-end system with 2k4?If for no other reason, I may just get it to enable me to run USA Roads! (Looking for that workaround...)thanks,Andrew

I just landed my SGA DC-10-30 in gorgeous shiny CP silver and colors at the Grand Canyon Bar Ten (1Z1) airport. I was actually ER from KJFK to KLAX but I disconnected the AP at FL390 to do some low altitude sightseeing (!)In any event, I landed successfully at that air field which I'd never seen before in FS. It is soft and green and on a small, free-standing plateau (in the default FS9 scenery). I approached from the North and pushed the nose down from 8000 feet, mostly gliding in the last 2000 vertical feet, very much "downhill". As if on a roller-coaster, I threw out flaps 50 and touched down 0.2 miles into the 4600' field and had room to brake and stop. My approa…

  8. Hi - Just did a search in the library, and I found a 30 meter mesh for the area but it kills autogen.Wondering if anyone knows of good scenery that covers the Finger Lakes area without killing autogen in 2002.I think I remember reading something about Rochester but I'm looking for the whole area! Thanks,Andrew

Hi all. For quite some times I've been using Zone Alarm, the basic version not the Pro.As much as I can recall, I nerver had any problem going into Multiplayer when it was active.Lately, I have installed the latest ZA version (5.0.590.43) and now, I can't access MP and/or FSNav without shutting ZA off first. If I shut it off then it's ok. I'd prefer it'd be active though. Thanks for any clues on an MSFS or ZA switch.Hugo

Just watched great wee article on channel 5's Gadget Show.A Fs Simmer called Richard (Come on identify yourself!) with a great home rig was allowed a real world Cessna landing. He needed a wee bit of help at 50ft flare from instructor, but brought Cessna home safely first time. What would normally be lesson 14 in real world teaching.Good shots in programme of Home screen and real world aircraft.Well done Richard!

Hi,Well I got through to Ariane and they have reactivated me so thats good. They have also told me the following:-"You must contact us for re-activation and we need to have your ORDER ID and PASSWORD. Each request will be considered on merit. Please keep a back up of files in case and if you think you need to re-install and come to us for advice first before you re-format. There are only 2 files to save - these are your key files in ARIANE and the FMC gauge.FMC can be found in c: etc.FS2004GAUGESKey files can be found in c: etc.FS2004ARIANE - save all of them (Not scenery, texture or Navdata folder contents). These files are set to your PC only - you cannot reload them to a…

When I used FS2002 with a Pentium 3/1000 and Geforce2-MX machine, I could not use 32 bits mode as it was too severe on my FPSNow, with FS2004 and a more powerful AMD XP2400, Geforce4-TI4200 machine , I seem to be able to use 32 bits without any FPS hit -- but really I can't see any difference onscreen between the 2 modes. So what do others use and why? Thanks Barry

Hi All,I picked a great book by Barry Schiff called 'The Proficient Pilot'. It has so much excellent information and I would recommend it to all. I was reading a chapter about DME arcs and how to fly them with a compass and VOR/DME. Well, here is my first attempt, a 7 mile DME arc. It is not much of a circle but it got me once around the airport and I stayed within the FAA stated limits of the radius. It is a fun and challenging thing to try.One more plug for Barry's book, it is a great and informative book.Best regards,Tom

The Let 410FG by Pannon Wings Design Team.First impressions were excellent with a very effective VC and cabin.Obviously a lot of work involved and great attention to detail.Sitting in that glass nose is not for those of you who suffer from vertigo! :-) Not many aircraft around with retracting main gear and a fixed nosewheel!!!Very nice textures too.Thank you for a great add-on.

  18. I just got FS 2004. Good game and a large upgrade since the last one I bought.I love to fly around my beloved Rocky Mountains in Colorado. To that end, I got the 38m mesh from Justin Tyme and the Colorado Lakes Project files to enhance the view. But unless I fly in winter, my Rockies aren't, well, rocky. They're tree-covered all the way to 14,000 feet. Long's Peak at 14,000 doesn't have a tree on it after 11,000 feet. Is there a way to make it so that the Rockies just more/all stark rocks after around 11k feet and not covered in vegitation?

I got back a couple of weeks ago from a golf tournament in oregon on an Alaskan Super 80. That approach into KSAN is so hard when its dark and the june glooms blankets the coast. Visibilty was around 1000 feet, so it wasn't as bad as ive seen it before. What im asking is when the visbility lowers even more and obviously there is no ILS into KSAN Runway 27, is this one of the hardest approaches in the US? Especially coming in over the Parking Garage. Haha. If not i was hoping to find out what is.Thanks Jamie L

I had Paul Mainville's KDTW installed, but when I removed it, the default KDTW was completely messed up... everything was in the wrong place, and the tarmac textures are missing. All other airports are fine though. Anyone know how to restore the default KDTW?

I remember I was able to do this in FS2k2. When you use your point-of-view HAT switch on the yoke (or joystick) the view will snap back to the FORWARD veiw. But, I remember there was a way to set somthing in the CFG file to allow the view to stick until you moved the HAT in another direction. In other words, the view did not automatically snap back to FORWARD when the HAT switch was released, you had to move the HAT forward to get back to the main 2d panel view.I have looked on the FS9 'hints and tips' on 3 separate forum sites, but can not find this hint.Does anyone remember this, or am I going nuts??p.s. if you do know how to fix this, can you link me to the FAQ site??

  24. Over on Flightsim.com, I read an OP-ED about somebody using TrackIR.I am wondering if a "rollerball" type mouse could be used to do the same thing. But I dont even know if a computer would recognise two mouses at once. If the rollerball could be used in place of a hat switch on a normal joystick , then you could use the normal joystick and mouse with your right hand and use the rollerball in your left hand to pan the cockpit and for 3d situational awareness.Probably a crazy idea - but because I don't have a spare joystick or rollerball, I can't experiemntHmm-- I wonder if another joystick which has a hatswitch could be used as a method of panning with the left hand?Barry
