I downloaded the Virgin Opensky A340, what a great sight this is!I'm trying to get wing views. I see the model selection in aircraft.cfg, and tried both model=WV and model=VC, just in case they were reversed. I get the VC (without gauges, I know about the panel package to get them), but can not get wing views with either model. Am I doing something wrong? :)Thanks for any help.Bruce.

Hey I'm flying the Soar Airlines 747-400 from FS9. When I try to do a direct GPS flight with full fuel from Los Angelas Intl. (KLAX) to Hong Kong Intl. (VHHH) the flight planner gives me an estimated fuel burn of 64,290.6 gallons. This of course is ridiculous as the 744 only carries around 57,000 gallons of fuel.I have a few Opensky and Posky 747-400's in my system as well, I don't use them because they don't have 3D cockpit views or complete 2D views. However, when I do a direct GPS with them I get an estimated fuel burn of 41,647.4 gallons. Completely feasable.I even tried to copy and paste the Opensky and Posky 744 aircraft.cfg's to the default Soar Airlines aircraft.c…

If you've been watching the flight-sim add-on market lately. there has been a lot of extremely low grade product coming out. While waiting endlessly for the few CS & F1 products to come out, there has been a plethra of planes & utilities that look more like a box with two wings and a 2D prop, stock sounds, no real art work, and copied .air & cfg files, and all for the unbelievable price - in some cases, of $25.00 to $30.00. Och !I know that most commercial companies consider themselves hobbiest - when they can't get product out, but these people that are attempting to drain our dollars for this low grade junk is simply unbelievable. With the lengthy time spans b…

Hi all! I was just wonder how I would add aircraft to my airport and maybe even give them routes to fly. I down loaded AI flight creater, but I'm not sure how to use it. It asks for flight files path and I'm not sure where they would be. I'm running fs9.x:)~

Below is a copy of my FS9.cfg file. For some reason, my performance isn't what it should be (with a P4 2.8 and a Geforce 6800). I am wondering if I have something totally messed up in the below file. Please, if you see something wrong, give a helping hand and note it, so I can optimize my FS experience.[OldModules]FSSound.dll=1Hostsb.dll=1[PANELS]IMAGE_QUALITY=1UNITS_OF_MEASURE=0QUICKTIPS=1PANEL_MASKING=1PANEL_STRETCHING=1VIRTUAL_COCKPIT_TEXTURES_SCALE=2.0[Weather]WindshieldPrecipitationEffects=1MinGustTime=10MaxGustTime=500MinGustRampSpeed=1MaxGustRampSpeed=200MinVarTime=5MaxVarTime=50MinVarRampSpeed=10MaxVarRampSpeed=75TurbulenceScale=1.000000DefaultVisibility=0DynWx_Med…

Hi,I am unable to stop the aircraft on landing. I have no problem in landing, but once landed it slows down when I press the brakes, but the reverse thrusters won't kick-in when pressing F3 and auto brakes even at max setting doesn't help and it just starts accelarating off again. I have tried re installing FS2002, but still get the same problem! Its the same with generic Fs2002 aircrafts as well as add-ons.Is there a particular file that might be corrupted?Any help would be appreciated. Many Thanks

Today it occured to me, as I was at 37,000 feet in my:PMDG 737-800/900, looking at myUSA Roads, set on "Major", with myActive Camera and FSUIP keeping things humming, playing on myP4 3.2 gig with 1 gig memory, and my800XT Pro ATI Radeon with 256 meg frame buffer, viewing it all on myViewSonic 19" flatscreen monitorit occured to me that what I was seeing was as good as anything else out there. The graphics are truly state of the art, and the function of the aircraft systems is good enough for practice...good enough for me.We are really at a turning point in flight simulation with this release. I offer that the next incarnation of flight sim will be released in a regular …

Gonna send this over the the tell MS mailbox but was wanting to get an idea if you guys think this would be a good feature. Many times when you communicate with the default ATC its for approval stuff. So I was thinking since I have my open ATC window hot keyed to the key mic on my CH Product yoke that if there was a way to enable a quick response feature that would allow the user not to have to search for the key to push to respond. How it would work would be after the user enables the feature in the setting menu once the ATC window is opened the item or number that is set to be the most likely response would be highlighted out of the selection. Then by simply closing…

I know FS9 has the ability to randomly simulate a bunch of different failures but I have never been that impressed. From time to time I see addon software to do the same kind of thing. Will any of those run on a second computer via WideFS and give me more flexibility? I have something called Flight Instructor Console that I bought eons ago for more money than I care to admit (if memory serves) and have used a few times. I can't even figure out by looking at the software who made it and mine is version 1. Perhaps improvements have been made. ThanksDavid

Is there any way to get the panels to light up better at night? For example, in the 172, I'd like to be able to make my instruments readable without blinding myself with the panel illumination.Or, in a jet, I'd like the instruments to be... oh, I dunno... LIT UP, maybe?Has anyone modded this thing to get the panel lighting improved? It's really bumming me out. Thanks,Andrew

Hi,I've just returned from holiday, fired up the sim only to discover that I appear to have lost the side/quarter views as seen in 2D cockpit. This doesn't apply to all aircraft - some of the more complex a/c like the PMG737 and B-25J Briefing Time seem to be okay whereas all the default a/c and many others are affected. I know many of the 3rd Party a/c only come with the main panel and I suppose it would not be a huge loss if I could not recover this feature on those other a/c where side views were provided, but it irks me not to be able to choose ;). Incidentally, the display of the 2D main panel remains unaffected in all cases.I presume I must have changed something in…

Is this a first for the GA Sim world? -- a multiple LOD, low poly a/c for AI.Thanks Mike -- you have started to fill a gaping void (dramatic hey!!) in the GA Fsim world. Can you tell us how much time was needed to create your new a/c - and can we expect more to come?Barry

Hi Folks-- As most of you who have logged a fair amount of hours with ACOF are aware, its ATC engine every once in awhile hits it out of the park, does a fairly adequate job more often than not, but occasionally COMPLETELY BOMBS. I'm not refering to the formation approaches or frequent "go arounds," (which are par for the course with addons such as UT or MyTraffic) which I've learned to live with, more or less.It is the goofy, inexplicable, hither and yon vectors that ATC gives, during approach phase, on some of the flights I've taken. :-newburn The worst of these experiences happened to me on my latest flight. I was doing an IFR in a bizjet from CYYZ to KSAN. The…

HI,Sorry if this is a stupid question, but i'm trying to perfect my AI traffic (I use UT and theres a good number of aircraft repaints missing).I have a couple of complete PAI packages installed, and I'm trying to use their repaints to complete my UT sets, however, i can find all the repaints, but i dont have the base models to associate them with... (hope this is making sense)...It's not the paint kits i need, or the repaints (i have them), it's the actual planes themselves, IE... A319 files, model, air, fde, etc etcCan anyone help????

I just wanted to mention that this is one of the strangest and best add-ons I've ever used, and I'm not even getting the most out of it since my PC isn't too hot...It's weird enough to find and follow roads you recognize, and realize certain spatial relationships between places you've never noticed before. For example, before I could drive, I had some friends who flew - and we drove to various airports which seemed, at the time, really far from where we lived. Geographically, I realize now they were right next door.So I decided to fly over my "wonder years" geography of San Diego, CA - Tierrasanta, Scripps Ranch, Mira Mesa... and I'll say, it's rather intrusive to see all…

How crucial is it to have table fog emulation enabled? I recently installed Nvidia's latest driver 61.77, which suppose to support 256mb cards better than the previous releases. However, the option to enable table fog can't be toggled anymore. . I don't know now, if I should go back to an older driver again or if the table fog option is not needed.Thank you for any support on this!Sam

I've just realized that I've never really seen terrain shadows - which specific settings address them? Is the quality adjustable, or does it scale with the terrain quality? Thanks,Andrew

Guys --I am interested in compiling all of the Martin 202s and 404s I can into my hangar. For some, in particular the Pioneer, Mohawk, and Southwest Airways ones found on flightsim.com, I think I need a "converter file" which I have downloaded, but not installed. What do these files do? How are they installed? Where are the installed? Will they wreck my existing installation of FS2002?Any help would be appreciated. I won't install until I hear from someone who knows how they work.-- Marc Burcham

I've been busy updating my very first proggie ever released for MSFS--Autoland. For those unfamiliar with Autoland, it's a standalone app that you fire up and run minimized in the background. If it detects you are in autopilot approach mode and that you're locked on the localizer/glideslope, it can take over the landing from final, to touchdown, to rollout. All you would normally have to do is apply the brakes.... I'd say it can land about 90 pct. of the aircraft out there--prop or jet. The program includes a slider which lets you adjust the landing within a narrow range in order to accommodate such a wide range of aircraft.Late last year, a new freeware utility was …
