Just for fun and admittedly getting WAY ahead of myself, I thought I would at least take a 737 up for kicks just to experience that before returning to the basics.I released the brakes, gave it full throttle, pulled back on the yoke but it would not leave the ground. What did I miss??Also, why am I now getting red words in front of the windshield like "Piper" or xxx feet, etc? Do I need them, what do they mean and can I turn them off for now?Thank you.Louis

Hi All,I have just upgraded my PC to the following spec;AMD FX53ASUS SK8V Motherboard1GB DDR400 RAM2 Maxtor HDD'sAudigy 2ZS/Latest Drivers19 inch Sony TFTRadeon X800 PRO 256MBLatest Omega Graphics DriverXP Home SP1Installed FS9. I am getting frame rates that I am happy with, ie 19-25 with all settings maxed/FSMeteo/UT at 90% at LHR. The problem is I'm getting stutters a lot of the time. I have done all the usual FS9.cfg tweaks I know of but just cannot get rid of them. I did try reducing some of the FS9 sliders and although frame rates increased the stuttering did not reduce.As I sold my soul to good 'ol Nick to get this rig I would not have expected this. Is there any way to change the font on the 737 engine gauges? I would like to see a mre realistic display that you see in the actual 737, rather then the standard text you get?-Phil

I have just purchased a Radeon 9800XT graphic board, so I looked closely how to optimize the frame rate to take advantage of my new hardware.I optimized many parameters to get around 40 FPS almost all the time, but I noticed that a heavy AI traffic impacts the frame rate, even if no AI aircraft is visible. I am using MyTraffic2004, which installs a big traffic database, and the FPS drops to 25-30 FPS when I set traffic to 60 or 80%, even if no other aircraft is around. I have 40 FPS when I set it back to 0%.Have you ever noticed the same?Do you know any good solution to avoid this?(except uninstalling MyTraffic and return to the original traffic database...)I'd like to ha…

Help ;( i've added , using afcad2, ai traffic to egpw.this works fine , choppers and f/w taking off and landing BUTthe 4 different aircraft get called by their registration.If I go to another stock airport (egpd) and use atc , atc will callBristows, Brymon, Bond, Speedbird etc.Go back to egpw and they revert to reg again!!!If I sit in one of them at Unst, atc will use Bristows etc, but notwhen they are AI , running around the airport!I've checked, double-checked , altered and re-altered aircraft.cfg.I've ran editvoice - all there - .WHAT AM I MISSING ???Anyone Please give me a hand ThanksShep9999

I have downloaded Kh 738 with winglets. It

I downloaded both of the Kittyhawk 737-800 Southwest paintjobs and I can't seem to get either of them to display correctly. I get the tail painted properly, and the winglets, but the rest of the bird is plain old blank except for a chunk of the rear fuselage, which is some odd color. I've downloaded them both twice and I can't see where I've screwed them up. I have a Geforce 4 Ti 4400 running 56.64 (also tried 53.03) under Win2K on an AMD 3400+ with 1 gig of memory. I tried it with the latest drivers and got the same results. The base birds in the main download (an AA and a KLM) both display fine, but have significantly different size texture files.Any ideas?

I've downloaded the FFX 727 and Ken Mitchell's panel for it. Followed all of the install instructions, yet I'm having a problem with it. When I try and adjust the payload, anytime I click on the OK after adjusting it, FS9 just quits and dumps me back to my desktop. If I just click fly, the plane loads fine, the panel works fine, and the plane will fly (barely, as it's overloaded by default)... can anyone help me out?Thanks!

Hello All,I have what is being considered a low end of PC.1.2ghz Athlon384 MB RAM60 GB harddriveGeforce FX5200 128 MBI just upgraded the video card yesterday to the fx5200 from a geforce2 gts. I'd really like to see what the new video card will do for me while playing fs9, but I have no clue what to set the sliders at. Right now I have them all on the defaults, been flying that way since I installed it and haven't had any problems. I have no additional add-ons. I'd like to improve the graphics with the new video card. Can anyone with a similar setup give me some hints or advice on how to get some good effects with my current system? In ridiculous configurations... it's IMC and ATC wants me to report an aircraft 3000 feet below me traveling in the opposite direction...Oh yeah... I have traffic in site. Sure.

Hi - Hardware aside, is there any known thing that causes FS' performance to degrade during flight?I notice my textures begin to fail first, and after that everything just gradually slows down.Thanks,Andrew

There is a long rant on the Flight1 forum by Simon Evans in which he writes:One Tin Soldier is just another example of someone who proceeds on the basis of incomplete technical knowledge, half-baked ideas and oft-repeated rumour which takes on pseudo-proven `fact` status purely from the oft repeating. Clearly very little of his article was based on his own research, it is a summary, a roundup of heard titbits and juicy gossip from around the forums, newsgroups and net - and possibly even a "man down the pub who once switched a computer on for someone", for all we know. Two more very basic questions right now (with thousands more to come)--In the Learning Center/Basic Aerodynamics/A balance act it says to set up straight and level flight in the Cessna 172 and speaks of adding and reducing power to observe how the plane reacts. How do you set it up to work on just that and be in straight and level flight (and as someone suggested just to taxi around)?What is the essential difference between cockpit view and virtual cockpit and is one preferable to the other?Louis

What are the softwares that I could use on multiple computers if you have the registered version of FSUIPC and WideFS?Please let me know.I got the Project Majentha IFR Panel and the FSUIPC and WideFS. I am running the IFR Panel on my Laptop. I used the home Wireless network and it worked..but I switched to X-over cable to improve fludity of the panels.Now I am getting greedy.. I want a GPS and proally the entire Radio panel running on another old Laptop/PC using the WideFS and FSUIPC.I know the Reality GPS does not work on remote machines but FSGarmin that does I think. Could someone tell me how to change the night lighting on panels? I don't want some custom hue or anything like that, I just want to change from bright blue to a darker red. I remember that you can do that with the Archer from Dreamfleet, so I thought that this switch would be pretty simple. Anyone know how to pull that off?:D
