Whenever I fly in NE British Columbia (SE of Watson Lake) my FS screen goes black and freezes up. I have disabled all add on terrain mesh and scenery, but it still happens. I'm thinking a corrupted or missing bgl file (although this is a wildly uninformed kind of guess).Any ideas out there as to cause and fix? Im thinking of reinstalling the Namw scenery file (assuming everything is there for that location).Informed suggestions or warnings about my "solution" would be greatly appreciated.

I have been stuck on this lesson for two weeks now. It seems to get to about 5,300 feet and I am told to descend to 5,000. I try to do that slowly using the yoke and trim. It is a fine-tuning adjustment I assume as I guess I don't want to plummet straight down. While I am trying to follow the instructions and ease down to 5K I get that damn "you are distracted" message and the lesson is cut out from under me. How is one suppposed to learn if I don't have a chance to work with the aircraft and the controls.I really don't get it and while I don't mind the slow learning process being stuck on one lesson for all this time can be very frustrating.Especially if you don't know wh…

Most of us have seen posts over the past months about whether or not waypoints can be manually added to flightplans. I believe this can be done with programs such as FS Navigator and Nav3.1, but many don't have those programs. Here is a way for you to manually add coordinates of your choosing to any FS9 flightplan that connects airports using Notepad. I enter these coordinates as intersections with arbitrary names, and it seems to work well. Let's take a simple VFR GPS-direct flight from KOKV (Winchester, VA) to KMRB (Martinsburg, WV). The .PLN file when opened with Notepad will look like this:{flightplan} <------------ Should be in bracketsAppVersion=9.0.30612tit…

I have a few questions about Icing and the way it is modeled in FS9COF. Just a few basic thoughts I have as a base of knowledge include the de-icing of the props (if you are in a prop) structure de-ice, and leading edge (wing) de-icing. The later being an example of a Cessna P210, where you can cycle the boots to rid the leading edged of the wings of any ice that may have built up. I also keep in mind that not all aircraft feature all the de-ice systems that may be available. .Lastly, I am using the term anti-ice is to keep ice from forming as de-ice is to rid a surface of Ice, as in the boots on a Cessna P210. So here are a few questions in relation to FS9COF, even i…

Hi fellow simmers!1. Bought Ultimate Traffic2. Stuggled a lot with it and finally traded it for another add-on (thank U Flight1!)3. Have not been able to restore the traffic to defaultHere's what happends: GA AI always comes in pairs. Is there some mystery file that can be replaced from the CD to solve this, or do someone have another solution? just wondering where everyone has the stick sensitivities and null settings for ailerons, elevator and rudder. the stick i'm using now doesn't have rudder but my other does and am going to hook it back up soon. as of now i have the elevator and aileron sensitivities just a few notches to the left of default. null settings are at default. these setting seem to give pretty solid responces. i used to have them all the way to the left and kept the null settings at default but are closer to default position now. william

Does anyone have an idea how to create or assign a keyboard shortcut key to turn AI on and off?I like to turn off AI on final for two reasons, 1. it helps with frame rates on the most crucial part of the flight and 2., gone are the fairly high odds that an AI rogue pilot is going to ram my plane when I least expect it! Thanks in advance :-wave! Best RegardsBoone,[email protected]"Flying a plane is no different from riding a bicycle. It's just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes."

After around 29,000 miles of flying I have now arrived in Florida! If you read the thread http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...&topic_id=22606 you may remember me asking where you all live. As I posted in that thread I said I would report on that flight. Well, I have you all that live outside the USA and Canada (those I could find from the other thread) and now I am heading your way! Any proper report will have to wait for quite a while. Flight plan was roughly UK - Finland - Germany - Switzerland - Turkey - Iraq (managed to swing some leave for you and pick up your family on the way Crash Hawk) - Indonesia - Australia - Hanger 26 - Hawaii - South America - BF…

Not that I don't need or can't use the practice, but after doing thesame lesson numerous times and then having it snatched away later on within it, is there a way to jump ahead to where the problem occured so you don't have to cover the same ground (or air) over and over?Louis

In fs2002 gmax build aircraft models where introduced, bringing many new exciting features along the way. But there was one thing that actually got worse with the new modelling format, the animation!I'm not an aircraft modeller and I don't know much about the different restrictions but we can all very well juge the final outcome. Before Gmax the animations where smooth as silk. No stutters nothing. With Gmax the animation of the flaps, undercarriage, doors etc. is stuttering. Why is that? Are it restrictions of gMax and if yes why are the animation "frames" restricted? It didn't change for the better with fs2004 and I really wonder why? Do we still have to live with this…

Is there any way I could just install the airports in FS2004 and not all the ground textures outside of the airports? I ask because with the full nl2000 installed I don't get very good performance, so I figured I would get better performance with just the airports.

I have a certain jet airliner I was tooling around in today and while holding at typical landing weight, at 3000' MSL and at IAS 180, my pitch was 7 deg. So to lower the pitch, I threw out slats and.....pitch rose to 10 degrees! After throwing out the first notch of flaps, pitch reduced to 9 degs, then with the next notch to 8 degs. But I had to throw out 5 notches to get down to 2 degs pitch which seemed incredible to me.I had figured without thinking even beforehand that slats and flaps would surely lower my pitch while holding, so this was a nasty surprise. What IS supposed to happen in such circumstances?JS
