When conducting the check ride, I fail after completing the short field landing. The lady says that I did not maintain 25" manifold pressure during the climb. My question is this: During the initial climb, after about 5000ft, I am at full throttle and can no longer maintain 25" manifold pressure as altitude increases. So naturally, manifold pressure decreases below 25" once I reach full throttle and continue to climb.Am I doing something wrong during climbs and is there anyway to get past this part of the check ride? (I'm flying the baron).thanks.

I'm interested in obtaining a few opinions for ATC options. In the last few years, having used several including Proflight 2000, Radar Contact, FS9 ATC, and the previous online equivalent to the current VATSIM. Most of the time, I use RC v3.0 but still looking for something more. That something more would be profile descents, realistic vector patters, etc. I stopped using on-line ATC (can't even remember the older name) because there was simply not enough participation for ATC facilities. There seems to be much greater participation in Europe as compared with the USA. As of late, I've considered returning to the on-line VATSIM option, but it appears the lack of ATC faci…

Hi all. A good friend of mine who knows my addiction to FS9 just gave me MY TRAFFIC as a gift. Now I have already the skies filled with traffic from planes and flight plans I have downloaded over the past year from different sources. For the most part all my airlines are in separate traffic bgls. I would like to install MY TRAFFIC to check it out to see if I want it but I am afraid to screw up what I have put together over the past year. Any suggestions as to what I should do before installing this program? MY hope is to use MY Traffic as a base and then subliment it by adding specific traffic bgls to the SCENERY/WORLD FOLDERDon

No flaming please!FlightOne: Nice job! I have put about 2.5 hours on the 172R (since my download 2.6 hours ago) and I hit the numbers (very close) like I used to in the real Skyhawk (172N). It was like De-ja-vu, all over again! (Thanks Yogi...)Question: Has anyone flown Solo in it yet?I've experienced severe rolling tendency to the left if I fly solo. I put in 210 pounds for the pilot; trying to keep it realistic :(The default M$ version does also roll but not as severe. The handling is great if I counter-balance with 210 pounds in the right seat; almost hands-off flying. Almost.Again, Great job Guys! I can't wait to repaint. The Archer is awesome too!Best Regards,Jim Donl…

I was wondering if someone wouldn't mind doing a repaint for the 'Simmers Sky' MD11??? The latest version has a nice VC and would look great in FEDEX colors. I'm surprised no one has done a FedEx repaint for this bird yet... :-hmmm The VC looks great for a freeware offering. Wish those night textures could be updated in the Virtual Cabin but all in all this is a great peace of freeware. Here's the link to the new version:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/92957.jpgThanks to anyone who doesn't mind making this freeware a little better...

Hi.I wondered if someone could tell me please if there is any difference in performance / FPS with this setting in the scenery section of FS9,EG, go to scenery library / select a scenery such as UK2000 part6 / click on edit, then there are two rounds, one has ''cache this scenery'' the other below says ''use this scenery directly'', this is the one that I have a dot in right now, but I wondered what it would do if I changed it to cache this scenery !and could I do it for parts 1 to 6.thanks for any help.Steve

I do not know how people on Western hemisphare deal with that, but for me in Hungary it seems FS9 stores magnetic declination values with revers sign. In fact I do not know how to get declination values for any points, it is not displayed. I can retrive them via FS Navigator only.I am interested based on which database Microsoft assigned the values to the simulated Earth. Declination is changing continuously and checking against real and precise databases I could not find a year for which values in FS would match real-life figures. Do you have any idea? And do you know how I could retrieve magnetic declination of a certain location from FS9 from a custom developed program…

This is just plain nuts, but it's true. Via a trip to my optomotrist this morning and a suggestion from him to try some cheap over the counter reading glasses, I came home and for the heck of it, wore them as I prepared to take off in FS9 in my Super King. Lo and behold.........my 19" LCD monitor ballooned up to 21" (by perception only, of course)......and the glasses imparted a mild parabolic concave curvature to the monitor which added just a touch of depth and 3D effect and when I took off and started the plane moving...... a slight but very noticable feeling of motion ala a full motion flight simulator than some of us enjoyed in Denver. Needless to say, I'm shocked an…

Hi everyone, first post on this forum but I have been reading it for years and found it very useful. I'm editing a small amount of FS9 footage to a home movie and need to know how to remove the red information box that appears on the lower left corner of the FS9 screen, you know the one that tells you your parking brakes are on!The effects of the Virgin 747 leaving KMCO are incredible in the late evening Florida sun almost life like if it wasn't for that red box!!!Many ThanksMikeH

Does anyone know what the fs9.cfg setting cache_wav_files= does?I hypothesize that it holds wav files in memory that would otherwise require stutter-producing hard drive accesses.I stumbled across it while I was tweaking something else. Subjectively, I think it may improve smoothness but I'm not sure. Thanks,

One of the things I would love to learn most is how to find out what the weather is like at the intended landing airport. I would like to be able to know the landing runway early enough so I can plan my STAR. Does anyone know a way to do this with a tip or trick or perhaps a utility that someone has released.ThanksGrahamUKRoute Developer

I was interested in buying one of these. But which? How different are they? I believe both have had some problems, especially frame rate issues. Any help would be great. Jonno.

Ever since I got my new 17 inch LCD monitor with a native resolution of 1280x1024, I've noticed a "one pixel" bleed through of the scenery at the right and left edges of the panel. After living with it for a while, I've now changed some panels to decrease the scenery width by one pixel on either side, solving the issue. If you have something similar bothering you, here is the fix:1. Back up your panel.cfg file2. Make the following changes:{Default View}X=4 // was 0Y=0SIZE_X=8182 // was 8191SIZE_Y=nnnn // leave this value3. save and reload the plane...Note: the brackets above should be square brackets..

Hi AllI have just recently started using FSMeteo version 6.4 with FS2004 and have noticed that when the metars are reporting clear skies, I still see scattered clouds which some appear to be at ground level.I also am using the latest registered version of FSUIPC.Possibly there is a function in either FSMeteo or FSUIPC which I have not checked.Any assistance appreciated.Kenny G.

I was just doing a flight from Moscow to Novosibirsk and descending to line up with the ILS. However, when I was something less than 30 miles out from the airport, weather was going berserk all around me. Just to give you an idea, I was getting winds of more than 800 knots :-eek . I then cleared all weather data using FSUIPC, but the strange effects persisted in that my aircraft kept flying sideways or even backwards. I then refreshed my weather data in AS2004, but when I did I was back to square one and struggling with winds well beyond the speed of sound. As I said, I am using ActiveSky 2004 and recently installed the freeware Novosibirsk airport scenery by Sergey Andruh…
