As we also reflect on a new year, I stop to reflect a bit on this flight simming hobby. We now have so much to choose from in terms of great and realistic looking aircraft. To see my favorite airlines, both nostalgic and current, rolling on the tarmac and flying in the air is something to behold. In a time of updated current flight plans, registrations and repaints, as well as the ability to create custom flight plans, etc, I have little to wish for in this department.In terms of scenery, I have always been a huge fan of the Alaska scenery's, esp Ketchikan areas. Surely this issue has been addressed.... yet I cannot find any posts re: this topic.I have an AI regional commuter flight that leaves out of Ketchikan Int PAKT to Annette Island PANT.Upon following it, I find it is crashing into the mountains to the west of PAKT. Now, sometimes it manages to get through, but then will crash coming over the mountains on decent into PANT.An IFR flight plan as opposed to a VFR flight plan has some impact on this, but it is negligible.There must be some way around this. There are default AI traffic moving around mountainous areas all the time and seem to do ok.Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.Misty Moorings MeshFS9ThanksDarryl

I am looking for a good screen shot program. Freeware would be best, but I do not mind shelling out some cash-ola for a good program. I was using Hyper Snap - It began locking up on me and freezing my flight sim. I was retrying Hyper Snap after the same problem a while back. So any other programs besides Hyper Snap. Thanks!!!

I've been 'flying' the PSS Airbus since around May 2002, both in FS2002 and Fs9 (Not all the time, but about 70% of my Flight Sim time)- I try to avoid night flights but really the PSS Panel at night is a joy to behold; many default Airport buildings are well lit also. My problem is that when landing at night the experience is ruined, for me anyway, because either the aircraft landing lights or the runway/taxiway are far too bright.Does anyone know how to, either brighten the runway/taxiway lighting or dim the aircraft landing lights? I have Project AI installed and I would like to use the more frame rate friendly AI aardvark models where possible. What is the easiest way to make the swap? The idea I have is to replace the model.cfg file the .mdl file for each aircraft. Then give the ardvark textures the same file names as the PAI textures and then write over them, doing each airline for each aircraft. Is there a faster way to be doing this? Thanks

Is there a limit to the number of sceneries one can add?I have added 250 separate sceneries and installed them, but less than half show up on the selection screen.Furthermore, the area numbers get scrambled all the time by the software.There is also a scenery.cfg under FS9 and also under Documents and Settings. I wanted to do a touch and go at Courchevel (LFLJ). I received clearance to do so from the ATC, RW 050. The controller must have been laughing when he gave me clearance. It was extremely challenging, for me at least. As a matter of fact, when I watched the replay, just my front wheel touched down (Cessna 172) and then I chickened out and throttled her up to get over the trees at the end of the runway. Hey all,I just had the best flight I've had in a long time, and what I did to get that is no miracle. Lately I've been having just a terrible time w/ stuttering both in turns on the ground and in the air. Really bad. Just took all the joy out of flying. I had got to the point of just not bothering. But the simming is in my veins, so I finally got fed up and got rid of the Riva Tuner, and a bunch of other tweaks that had been suggested and then reinstalled the latest drivers for my card, and for the heck of it, set the anti-aliasing and anisotropic settings to "off" "let the software set itself" choice and "Quality" setting. Does anyone know why wind has no affect on aircraft sitting on the ground? I placed the PMDG Beech 1900 on the ramp and cranked wind speed up to 125kts, gusts to 146kts, wind shear to sharp, and turbulance to severe. I see no aircraft movement when looking out the window or looking at the aircraft in spot mode. Is this another limitation of FS2004?From what I remember when in a real twin tubroprop, just the engines running creates rocking of the aircraft.Richard

Has anybody tried formation flying? I tried it in military sims like Flanker 2.5, Lock-On and Il-2 Sturmovik. It's great but you only realize this after the flight is over because during the flight you're just too busy.:) Of course, I'd like to try this in multyplayer, with real a real human as a wingmen, but I have a dial-up connetction and it's way too slow and expensive. What about you? Have you ever tried flying in formation (I mean real formation flying, not like when you're the leader and the AI aircraft just follow you)? While we are all speculating about what the next FS200x will look like and incorporate, I'd like to introduce an outside chance into the race - probably a 100 to 1 shot really, but a couple of things point to it having some form. CFS3 was a loser and CFS4 was abandoned. However, there is obviously a market for Military Sims - as evidenced by the popularity of Lomac, IL2 , etc. But if I was MS, wanted to stay in both races - Civil and Military - and was planning a new FSim engine, then why would I want to have 2 teams building 2 different Sims. Flight mechanics are the same regardless of whether an a/c is a Civil or Military a/c so it could be conceivable that the 2 types …
