Hi allis there a frame rate loss if you use say one Video card and connect 2 monitors to the one card and dock the FMC and other 2D applications to the other monitor? The reason i ask is i see some frame rate loss when the other monitor is enabled with 2D applications on it while FS2004 is running.

Has anyone purchased charts from Aeroplanner.com? I'm specifically looking for (electronic) high and low alt enroute IFR charts for the US. They sell a set of 50 for around $50. Now, they have free enroute charts at myairplane.com, but they are hard to use (the zoom and panning is a little tricky). Anyone have the charts from there who can comment on the quality? Specifically related to fs2004 navigation, of course. They have a sample available, but it is not that type of chart. I just bought the Dreamfleet 727 and want to do some more accurate navigation. For some reason, I can't get the LNAV and the FMC working... :) Seriously, VOR navigation is a lot of fun, b…

I downloaded the excellent A380 planes and panels by afs-design.de (A. Meyer). I sent 10 Euro dollars to them via Paypal on 23 Jan. for the updates to remove the black boxes in the model and panel. On 26 Jan. the check payment was made. Repeated e-mails asking for the files have never been answered, nor have they been returned as undeliverable. Has anyone received the two updates (ab2 and apa)? Thanks, regards, Bob.

Correct me if im wrong, but it seems the water model and textures in FS9 are optimized for viewing at altitude. If this is true, are there any mods that provide better visuals for low-level to the surface? I'm hoping to find something to make my new Boeing 314 Clipper more at home:-kewl I was also curious to know if there are any sea-states coded in game or with a mod?...I can understand if their isnt, complex water models are a bit outside the realm of a flight sim.

I have the Saitek X45, which I love, except for the rudder control. It is placed on the throttle. It seems very sensitive as well, as it has taken months to perfect and I am still far from perfect using it. I was wondering what you all think of the CH Pro Pedals. They look very inviting. Before I purchase, does anyone have any advice on whether it would be worth buying. Would taxing be easier? Would making a perfect coordinated turn be easier? Or is it just an FS issue that would cause problems with any rudder control being too sensitive? Thanks.

I am currently working on a (freeware or maybe open source) GPS/Instrument data exporter using FSUIPC. It takes the data from FSUIPC and sends it out to a serial port connected Palm OS PDA, using special client software. The server(runs on the desktop) is coded in VB, and the client is coded in C++. I am running into a problem, though: what format should I display it in? I've been toying around with mini-glass cockpits, simple instrument readouts, all the way to full-featured moving map GPS displays! What would you like to see?

Here's a question i've always thought about: will there ever be a time when MS Flight sim is 100% complete with features and as near perfect so that production on the 'next' version will stop for ever? It just seems that every two years microsoft release an update with a few new extras and bug fixes but it never seems to satisfy the flight sim user completely as we are then always on to 'what next'. So when do you expect the upgrade cycle to stop [if ever]?

I'm ready to plunk down some $$$ and get a payware Piper Archer II. I'm stuck, though, deciding on weather to get the Dreamfleet or the Carenado. To me, the shots at Carenado's website make their model look alot closer to 'real', but there is so much more offered as repaints for Dreamfleet's. I just want some opinions from current owners before I buy (don't want to jump to any impulses!)Scott

I posted a day or so that I was getting really nasty FPS with a 3.2 GHZ P4 and an ATI x800xt PE installed.I've sinced found that my power supply is only 240W, whereas ATI reccommend at least a 300W supply for the card.Could this be the problem I'm experiencing, just a lack of power for the graphics card and maybe even the CPU to operate at optimum levels. Thanks for any help.-Phil

For anyone interested you can purchase and download here: http://www.mdsuper80.com/It's a bit pricey but I think well worth it. So far I have installed and registered without problem. It is a very complicated panel with quite a learning curve. I will have to dedicate some time to read the manual. You won't be able to just start this one up and go flying. You will have to follow procedures to the letter.Still, it is well done graphically. I have to agree that not having the FMS available at purchase is hard to swallow and may prompt others to wait until it is available.I must complete the entire checklist and get this one in the air before commenting further.Take care,

Hey Gang,Curious really - I spend way tooooo much time tinkering, 'Avsimming', adding, and general research about flying, than actually flying in FS9. I also fogot to turn 'on' my log book until recently :-lol doh !!Am I truly sad ? I have a full time job working around 60hrs a week, no kids (yet), and just love this hobby...but am running the gauntlet with the 'war department' (wife) :-lol I've also booked to do a PPL at the end of the year in Orlando. She's not impressed - but I bribed her with an extension to the house to keep her quiet hehe. How many upgrades is that gonna cost me ????? Oh well....Nevertheless - I've still got a total of nearly 700hrs in there. What's…

Hi All,I always find it interesting to see how others use their sim, so I thought it would be interesting to see where, and how, people fly using their sims.Being from the UK, I mainly fly in Europe, using Sheceduled routes.By "GA" style routes I mean anything that would fall into a "Scheduled" route catagoryHow do YOU fly?.A) Mainly in North America (inc Canada), using scheduled routes.A1) Mainly in North America (inc Canada), flying "GA" style routes.:( Mainly in Europe, ScheduledB1) Mainly in Europe, GAC) Mainly in South America (inc Caribbean), ScheduledC1) Mainly in South America (inc Caribbean), GAD) Mainly in Asia or Africa, ScheduledD1) Mainly in Asia or Africa, G…

Not me!Yes, off course, after I got a certain rwy assigned for approach/landing in FS9, ATC gives me the option to request another rwy. And yes, so far I allways got this alternative confirmed, but allways only with the addition "circle to land" or "sidestep" to that runway, which was originally given by ATC. Thus this option to select a different rwy for landing, is not really an option.Selecting a different runway for take off works fine though.Wolfgang(edited due to wrong spelling)

I'm out pounding the pavement for some testers - I released a couple of public betas to AVSIM a few weeks ago: First is a tutorial on how to make water scenery using a combination of TerraScene generated images and Jim Keir's Slartibartfast program, and aside from myself and two testers who were intimately involved in writing the tutorial, I have had no reports of anyone actually succeeding in getting the method to work (despite 600 downloads). I have had no reports of failures either, thus no reports at all, so I have no idea how well this tutorial has been received.Second, I have also released two water scenery packages that I created using the method - New England an…

Since I purchased the Flight1 ATR, I have been a constant reader of the ATR Forum on the Flight 1 web site. There are more than a few Real ATR pilots that regularly fly the F1 ATR and contribute to the forum on a continual basis. It is often that a member of the forum asks a question about real ATR procedures and within a few hours, one of the Airline Pilots will respond with an answer, and somtimes a few of them will have an online discussion comparing procedures for their different airlines. I have been involved with MSFS for many years and don't ever remember this happening before. Anyone know of any other FS aircraft that has the interest amongst the RA jockeys?

I am having trouble figuring out how to navigate in the 114. On the Navigators panel, I can use the radios to tune in a VOR or NDB and on the "precision radiocompas" it will point to the heading needed to fly to the VOR. My question is that on the Captains panel the VOR indicator only points at 180 or 90, never the direction of the VOR. So how are you to navigate in this aircraft. Navigate only from naviagor panel and then switch to Captains panel for takeoff, land and to check speed, V/S, etc. ?? Mark.

I've always been curious as to why you real world pilots out there use flight simulator? Is it just for entertainment or do you get any benefit to apply to real flight. Having a real world license to fly would be the ultimate and flight simulation can't come close to the thrill of actually flying (IMHO). Basically I would just like to know your attitude toward flight simulation.Jim

I've posted about this before plus done a large amount of reading on the subject. My latest plan is to reformat, reinstall windows without SP2 (since this seems to be the only thing that is different as of my new hard drive installation). I am completing a few scenery projects before I do the re-install however. Now on to my question...Since SP2 was installed before all my other applications were loaded, can I remove SP2 without having a pre-SP2 restore point? Before sp2 my fps were very fluid and steady. I had my fr lock at 34 and rarely did it drop below 30 even in reasonably highly detailed areas. On average most of my sliders are at 80%. With exactly the same drivers f…
