Hi guysThe weird problem that I have is as follows: After closing down FS9 and going back to the desktop , I find FS9.exe still running as a process in the taskmanager. If I shut it down manually in the taskmanager, everything is OK , if I don't, the next time I start FS, it creates another instance of FS9.exe in the taskmanager! I discovered it by chance one day during a beta-test session where I had to start and stop FS frequently, and looking in the taskmanager, I found that FS9.exe was running 9 times altogether! Both compasses ,mag and dir, are now off by 120 degrees. Shift+z confirms these readings. I must have done something to botch these settings. Please don't tell me to reload FS9 as I have 30 MB in the sim. Save me from another disaterous flight. rnails

Like some other people here, I was suffering from frequent freezes caused by texture loading, particularly in RealAir Spitfire and SF260. Now I think I have been able to mostly eliminate them. There remains only a "little" freeze when switching to spot view.I modified fs9.cfg this way:TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=16777216TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=16777216Actually I didn't experiment much, yet, so I don't know which one is more significant, neither if smaller values work as well, so you have to try for yourself.My specs:AMD Barton 25001024 GB pc2700Radeon 9500 Pro 128MB1280x960x32

I have some questions regarding the weather in fs9. First, i see alot of people recommending 'active sky' ? What are the advantages over basic fs9 weather ?And second, is it possible to get exact weather info from fs9 ? things like wind direction and knots for different levels i.e 100 nm from approach i would like to know what is the weather on the runway, is that possible ?

HiIs there a technical reason why in the VC of every Fs2004 aircraft,the default view has your nose pressed up against the Glareshield.im pretty sure most pilots dont fly around with there head resting on the windshield..this is also the case in every Addon aircraft i own..ie PMDG ,GA727,AEROWORX,REALAIR..i know this is easy to solve by just a couple of keypresses.or altering the panel.cfg......just wondered really:) :) best wishes steve

all of the scenery on the ground appears to be brown when at a certain height. usually above 1000ft. Not much better when below 1000ft. As regular forum posters will be aware, I've been doing MSFS for years now and while I love it, indeed, remain addicted to it, it never ceases to amaze me what goes wrong. It seems that virtually every time--okay, every other time--I use the sim, there is some kind of glitch even if only minor.Most recently, for example, I had the issue with my 737-200 panel opening up with a continuous whirring noise like a cockpit recirc fan and so I posted here. Unbelievably, it turned out that when I replaced the altimeter gauge, this resolved things! Hi,Anyone know if someone or a company is working on new water texture/animation? Of all the water texture out there (free/commericial) right now, the ripples seem to be out of scale, too big. Hence it makes objects near any water look like tiny models. Is there a way to write an addon to do our own water animation? I'm interested to know.

I would like to congratulate David Copley for his really nice P-38.It looks great and the flight model is outstanding. Right up there with any payware machine IMHO. The installation instructions are thorough and precise. Both the 2D and VC cockpits are top notch.It is a FAST twin prop machine and executes aerobatics very well.I'm not sure about the accuracy of its stall characteristics...it just mushes and drops like a stone...no stall break...but fall all I know, that might be the way the Lightening behaves.Check it out.Jimp38tdl22.zip

People,This weekend I added the Nemeth Mi-17 to my aircraft inventory - I just wanted to share this, I think it's an awesome product, very realistic and since I don't know what else is available in terms of good MSFS Halo's, I think this ship totally rocks right from start-up to shut down procedures, the sounds etc etc....EXCELLENT!If you like flying choppers, go for this one.Cheers,-Pranav

First, I describe My system:I have a M$ ForceFeedback 1 Joystick connected to the intagrated GameportMIDI, and a home-made controller to the Audigy2 Connector. Originally the two joysticks were connected the other way. Then I tried to swap up them, as Audigy2 has more sensitivity to Analog devices. The home made thing had a poor sensitivity connected to the integrated port, and FF joystick did not suffer of the swap because it's digital...All seemed to work right, but when I started up FS (which recognized the two joysticks and didn't messed around with assignments of axes and buttons...!!) it resulted in a poor FPS of 5.5, with respect to the old of 30FPS (could be more …

I've downloaded textures for the above aircraft. The readme file says I need the original base model by Henry Tomkiewicz, which is supposed to be available on avsim or at a particular URL belonging to Dee Waldron. The URL supplied seems to be no longer active, and I cannot find the original model anywhere on Avsim. Lots and lots of repaint textures, but no base model! Can anyone tell me where I can get the base model for Henry Tomkiewicz's Cessna 208 ???

I know this is old stuff by now, but when I clicked on Fs9 tonight to open it up, it went all the way through to the default flight at KSEA. Normally, it opens me up at Create A Flight screen.How do I modify the Settings so that it opens up the way I want when I boot up FS9?Thanks!JS

I've been using a whole GoFlight set-up for about a year with few issues at all. In recent months, however, it has started to develop freezes within FS2004. I should qualify this slightly and say that my suspicion is that there is a link between screen freezes and the GF hardware. I thought it might be my UT AI or POSKY 747s but it isn't; those items function fine and reasonably fluidly.I use the GF MCP and love it, but it has been glitchy and freezy at times. I use version 1.33 of the GF software with version 1.05 of the MCP. It's been working well. To throw humility to the wind, I'm a pretty good stick ITRW and have more than my share of greased on landings so when I was painting them on in FS9 it seemed right.But I recently flew a new machine..of course before reading the manual...and managed to execute a really lousy final approach, had about a 1,000 fpm decent rate over the numbers, flared and touched down at at least 600 fpm and guess what...CHIRP...no float in ground effect in spite of my excessive speed and no BOUNCE.Tried the same thing in half a dozen default and add-on machines...same thing.
