I have installed some sceneries lately, but none that would include cactus plants. however, flying around chicago today, I noticed them all over the place...any ideas about what bitmaps or anything else to remove which will put cacti back in their right place? thanks...Sherm

Since the release of the Level D 767 I am now having a big problem with MSFS.That problem is to do with the Level D 767 but in the fact that this aircraft has ruined most of my old favourites in FS for me.The 767 is so silky smooth and yet so complex that my old favourites now seem so jerky and framerate unfriendly.I am using the 767 almost exclusively while aircraft I used to love and use like the aeroworx B200 no longer seem up to it.Is anyone else having simular difficulties?RealAir aircraft are also silky smooth and the example these new technology aircraft have given seems to have highlighted the bad frames in other aircraft. What old favourites need a makeover with …

  4. I have never heard of this problem but since re-installing FS2004 from a long time of being out of flying with it I have a strange problem when adjusting my OBS, CRS, or HDG knobs/indicators. The problem also exists with the autopilot when trying to set an altitude to use. The adjustments all come in 5 degrees for CRS and HDG and therefore I can't tune in a specific radial unless it is something like 180 or 185 degrees...if I am trying to tune the 193 radial I can't do it.Also with the autopilot it sometimes increases in 1000's of feet and then in 100's of feet...In other words I click on it once to set it and it increases/decreases in 1000's and then after a little bit…

Is there a way to get the same runway lights without installing the whole AEU7 textures? I love AEU7, but the stutters are wearing me out...I've tried everything lowering resolutions pulling sliders back and everything but to no avail. I love the runway lights in this package. If I could just get the lights then the experience would be almost as good as the entire AEU7 package.

About a month ago there was a thread on the new Simflyer GNS480, the consensus seemed to be that this was another repackaged default GPS unit without the full WAAS functionality of the real unit. However, at the time I don't think any of the posters had any direct experience with this gauge - has anyone now bought this unit and if so what do you think of it?Bruceb

We already have much better water, roads, clouds, sky, stars, soon even better shorelines but there is one critical piece still missing - large concentration of trees. I am talking about ubiquitous tree arrangements that pockmark landscapes around the world - you see them everywhere except in desert and arctic areas. Something like this (Saratoga County airport in New York):http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/110529.jpgI recall years ago when Marc Stoering (sorry for twisting his name) developed his ground braking add-on scenery for FLY!2k that covered part of Germany where he solved the tree problem by using big flat 3D polygons to depict large concentration of trees. In…

I recently downloaded freeware textures that promised a variety of sights over wilderness expanses (can't remember where). Now treed areas appear like a checkerboard of different forest textures. I would like to get rid of this effect.Any suggestions? Would it hurt to remove forest textures I don't like?

hi allcan anyone tell me what this means when ATC say this to other ac at the airport.i presume it could be that the ac is doing a visual approach and thus on short finals, i was told from a first officer who flies for Virgin Blue that in Australia all flights at night have to be ILs approach and that you have more flight to do as you have to intercept be on final from 10+ NM out,any comments from real pilots / ATC?rgds

  10. Hey everyone, i'm having the most annoying FS experience ever! Everytime i come in to land (any aircraft, any airport) when i get within say 1 mile to half a mile out my frames drop drastically from 25+ to below 6 fps!!!! This happens everytime i land and obviously ruins the whole experience! it is only noticable out of the forward view, i.e when i look out over the wings or left/right etc it goes back to normal, so it is only happenning with the runway in view. This will happen with all sliders back to minimum so it can't be due to demanding scenery like autogen and airport buildings etc etc. I have no idea what could be causing this and i have tried resized runway te…

I just finished upgrading my system today and finally got everything tweaked how I like it. It took me ALL day today and I was ready to pull my hair out after messing about with my HD's and Windows last night. Here is my old system: Gigabyte GA 8 mobo with older intel chipset. P4 at 2.8GHZ(OC'd to 3.0) 1G of PC2100DDR, SB Audigy, Radeon 9800 slightly OC'd with WIN XP Home. I run it pretty lean with very few services running and use FS Autostart when simming. Here is what I went to: ASUS P4 800SE with Intel 865P chipset. P4 3.4GHZ Extreme edition,1G of Kingston Hyper X PC3200 DDR, Same Audigy, Radeon X800 XL, and the same OS. After messing about and getting everything twea…

Lately I very often switch to Windows during longer flights with alt-enter (going to windowed mode) after which I can go to, for instance, this forum, or do other interesting things (I have pause on switch disabled so I do keep on flying). The problem for me is that I cannot hear FS anymore as soon as the FS window isn't the active one. Because this means I cannot hear (FS) ATC I have to move windows around, make them smaller, etc. etc. and always keep an eye on FS. Is it possible to keep on hearing FS in any way when you've switched to another program? That would be VERY nice!

HelloCould anyone please help me on this subject. On the ground in spot view, when I swing round with the hat switch and stop the scene keeps slowly moving for approximatly ten seconds. In this time there is bad flickering in the scenery. In flight when I switch to spot view the plane shoots forward then slowly drops back again for approximatly ten seconds. If anyone else has experienced this problem and could help me find a solution I would appreciate their help in getting it right. Many thanksRex

Has anybody installed the software yet?-Mike Patel

Assuming 150 knots in terminal area, (and 15 deg. flaps), would you gradually lose speed, so you don't have too much to give away (at once) when you intercept glideslope?.......I'm assuming dropping of gear at GS intercept would be normal way of losing some speed. Thanks in advance for any info, Bill. btw: PC-12 is FlightOne's.

There seems to be a lot of work in depicting the cabin interiors but no way of viewing them, unless you happen to zoom through while going from front to rear view in spot plane.

Using 15 deg. of flap and gear down, if I approach at book approach speed of 98 knots, approach seems correct ( power back to 5-10%)......but if I center AOA, speed decays to approx 89-90 [which is 30 deg flap bookspeed??]. Am I doing something incorrectly? Thanks for any advice, Bill.....btw: This is with FlightOne PC12.

  22. I was just wondering, but if a pilot is flying at FL 160 on Victor airways and decides to go to FL 200, can he still use his victor route? Since above 180 is for Jet routes, do they have to instantly change to a Jet route or can they continue on a Victor route?? Thanks. Tom

I knew The Flight Scenary Flightzone01 Rhode Island was very good. but felt it was priced too high.... so I didn't get it.Well..today in a momentary lapse of reason..I got it. and I am glad I did. It is something that I have not seen before. The scenary from far is..ok..nothing to rave about.... .but as you approach and you fly around the airport...its just spectacular. I now have three monitors in the front giving me a 180 degree view and imagine this much detail in all three monitors... that made it even better.http://www.flightscenery.com/
