I wnat to really try myself out using the Antonov AN14 -- it is claimed that it can be landed in less than 400 feet, but I can't find a short runway anywhere.I have landed it in what appears to be a very short distance - but it is deceiving in the Sim.Thanks Barry

hi allwith the increasing complexities of the commercial add on community of the likes of PMDG and PSS would'nt it be great that they also incorporate a virtual co-pilot in the background, i know there is the call outs, but how about a VCP with preflight briefings, takeoff checklists, cruise checklists, decent checklists, landing checklists,i mean it only has to be some wav files which are triggered in the background, that would add so much to the experience.

Hi Guys.Some of my add on planes are being referred to by ATC as "Experimental".Are there any ways to change it so that they are calling the aircraft by their correct name?

airport environment has removed all taxiway markings as well as the option to taxi to gates. Also it has made all PAPI's/VASI's dissapear.ive put all the textures in but somethings obviously gone wrong. recently ive changed the MAX VORTEX LEVEL of terrain in the .cfg, installed the soft horizon textures and fiddled about with the ingame scenery settings but surely all these things wont make anything happen?p.s totally random but is there a STARS tutorial anywhere on here?thanks a lot to any1 who can help me, i know i ask a lot of questions but soon hopefully theyll all be answered and u wont get so annoyed:-wave

With all the quake activity going on in California, I was wondering does anyone have any stories to tell. Can you imagine a 6.6 quake occurring right as your wheels touch the runway upon landing or right as your holding for takeoff? Heavy or GA, that would be a traumatic experience for anyone evolved (I would guess)...

Can anyone help me with this problem please, I am a real pilot but a bit of an idiot when it comes to the technical stuff re computersSince reinstalling flight sim 2004 after a hard disc upgrade and updating to fs9.1 and replacing all of my downloaded extras I have noticed a strange anomaly.It seems that I no longer have medium or upper level winds after downloading real weather. If I press shift Z it shows wind direction but no wind speed at all. Invariably it just displays 002/00kts at anything above 2 to 4 k feet aglI have tried everything to get it to work but to no avail. Thanks.

Hey all. I have searched Vatsim, the internet, & this forum with no luck in an attempt to find any quality information on navigating via IRS/IRU system alone. In an announcement of their FMS add-on, MDMax (www.mdsuper80.com; known for their professional MD Super 80 panel) stated that the VNAV function is blocked until one earns 200 points (what means that only after practise on more "traditional instruments", one is allowed to use VNAV).Since this is not clearly visible on the MDMax pages, I want to make possible customers aware of this fact.This should not shy people away from purchasing MDMax products, since at least their base panel are top class and highly recommended.Andreas

Hiya all,Just installed a new HD and also FS9 but did a flight to check if it was ok

I've noticed more and more panel files now use CAB files. I'm unsure of how to use them -- just place the CAB files in the Gauges file, or extract the contents and then place them in the gauge file. I've searched several FS web sites for an answer without sucess. Thanks.

Hi Daniel,the terrain mesh file of sebclod9.zip is indeed better than the terrain mesh files that are part of bcmesh9d and bcmesh9e. It is compiled from much more accurate source data (23-m resolution as opposed to 90-m resolution).However, bcmesh9d/9e/p2 contain other enhancements, like lakes, rivers, roads, glaciers, ski areas, etc., that are not included in sebclod9.zip.There is a compilation package of bcmesh9d/9e/p2 available at the FS Genesis website, which you can use instead. In fs9 when I want to descent from cruise altitude and I change the vertical speed to a negative value the attitude indicator shows that the plane is pitched below the horizon, nose down. Is there a way to descent with a pitch attitude of zero degrees? I did a search on AVSIM and fs9 learning center and I have trouble finding an answer. What is the proper way to descent a jet.

Imagine a situation where GPS has died, comms are on receive only and you are only sure of your position within, say 300 sq miles! In flightsim it is possible of course to call up the ATC menu and check for the nearset airport to get your bearings. What can you do if the ATC display will not show on screen either? None of this relates to bugs etc just background info!What I need is something that can list nearest airports which would be maybe within say the nearest 40 miles. Just the name of the airport is wanted. No airport code but if that shows it doesn't really matter much. Definitely no distance to those airports, that would make life too easy.Sounds strange perhaps …

I am refurbishing my P39 Airacobra beast and need some good sounds for a V12 engine. I got some at Simviation and they sound good except for some clanking when the loop starts over.Does anyone know of a freeware set or possibly a P51 or Spitfire that I could borrow from? I don't plan to upload it so it should be ok to use some bits and pieces of other sound sets.Thanks

Does anyone know what the difference between the FScene textures that you buy by the region and season (http://www.fscene.com/) and the FScene 3D texures being marketed by FSQuality add-on (http://www.aerosoft.com/cgi-local/re/iboshop.cgi?show70,3955307350,24)? Are they the same texures by Ruud Faber? If so, why the huge difference in pricing between the two?BMBanister

could you please tell me how I can make my own multiple planes flying as a group of say 10 to 12 aircraft would it be possible using flightplans,ttools and afcad etc

If you remember Bob Brown and I made Florida Landclass for FS2002 and later updated it for FS9. In fact Landclass Florida was one of the First scenerys for FS9. A few weeks ago Scott Gridly anounced that he was going to release the FREEflow Keys. Bob and I saw this and contacted Scott and it's now FREEflow Ultimate Florida. We have incorporated the Florida Landclass to Scotts shore lines and this is the result. Dexter is on the team as a tester and as our PR and movie maker.
