This message post is not to knock a product, it is to make a point.I just installed Ultimate Terrain with great expectations. It's coming right back off my machine tomorrow morning. While I am sure a great effort went into this product, I found out more is not necessarily better.I really appreciate the MS product as delivered much more now. Here's why.I could fly around Las Cruces, New Mexico (a city I am moving to shortly) and (with stock FS9 and USA roads alone) know exactly where I was at all times. I just bought a new lot in the elevated area of Picacho Hills, and I could slew down to the ground and get an exact view of the valley below from my back patio (probably …

Just purchased and installed Ultimate Terrain. Great program but I was wondering if UT disables autogen because I see much less trees and much less buildings. I dont know if I'm just too used to FS9's autogen but it feels like a lot of spots are just barren and empty after having added UT. Thank you.

Is there any one available? Could be completely realistic in some military choppers and very useful in GA aircraft as well if you would like to go to a tour de alps or something at night :D

In spite of the naysayers, Flight1 has indeed been working on an update to address the issues that arose from the initial Commander release. Details [a href=http://www.aopa.org/whatsnew/newsitems/2005/050921sweeps.html]here[/a]. I've downloaded but not yet installed it.Thanks Jim & Flight1!

The YS-11 is the only aircraft in my prop fleet that flies badly with the CH throttle quadrant. When I pull power off for touchdown, for example, the rpm rises (!) and speed goes UP in this otherwise lovely add-on a/c. I get false feathering alarms on the cockpit panels as well. It might be that the coding of this a/c is just incompatible from the days of FS2000 or FS2002. Anybody having success using their CH throttle with the YS-11? If so, what's your secret?!JS

Hi Folks! Is it possible to add a GPS to a virtual cockpit? I'd like to add a Reality XP GPS to the dash of a plane that only has GPS as a pop-up. From what I have read, I suspect it only possible to REPLACE an existing GPS with a different GPS (better than default) or is this impression off the beam?Cheers,N.

One area which I think is completely underevolved in our FS world is the field of FMCs.Several GPS versions already exist, they all more or less resemble their real world counterparts with knobs and some keys. They're pretty perfect for small and even midsized aircraft. But when looking at cockpit pictures and the what avionics manufacturers have to offer, these GPSs alone normally aren't alone especially in bigger aircraft (not as big as an A320, of course!). They're always either replaced or accompanied by some sort of FMC or GNS-X if you like that term more. And that's what I badly miss: some kind of advanced GNS with an alphanumeric keyboard and the possibility of later…

Or not, if you don't wanna. No pressure. :DSeriously, I'm gonna treat myself to an add-on Friday, and I know there are alot of high quality stuff out there. What doesn't help matters is my tastes run the whole gamut. I try not to visit AlphaSim and the like because I want EVERYTHING they have!! What to do?-JeremyThe Ozark DogfighterHappy Flying!

Hi, I'm getting this weird problem when flying in the USA (Seattle): my VORS indications are offset by about 20 degrees, while ADFs point correctly, as well as my heading bug and GPS direction. It means that if I'm flying on GPS on a heading of 180 (course 180 on FSNav to a specific VOR), the couse of this VOR is misaligned by about 20 degrees. And this happens only in the US. In Europe everything is OKCan someone give a clue why this is happening now and how to correct it without reinstalling everything?(I have recently reinstalled everything on WinXP and before on Win2000 I didn't have anything like this - even with the same sceneries. )Thanx a lot in advanceRino

Is anyone else amazed at this kind of stuff? Here's the latest announcement/contest from CapSim regarding the "imminent" release of its C-130 Hercules.--------------------------------------20 Sep '05The 'Legendary C-130' can be out any day now. Guess the 'Legendary C-130' release date and have a chance to get it for free!--------------------------------------Unfortunately, the latest date you can enter is December 31, 2006. I'm not quite certain even that date is usable. :)A bit of friendly advice to the Captain Sim crew: don't say anything at all anymore. Just surprise the flightsim crowd with a release. No more "any day now" announcements.Additionally -- if anyone'…

Hi all. I don't know if this is normal in FS9 but I find that I can hear the touchdown sound as AI aircraft land even if I am flying at altitude several miles away from an airfield. Is there any way to disable touchdown sounds for AI aircraft or, ideally, make them audible only if a landing happens within a plausibly realistic hearing distance? I would prefer not to disable AI sounds entirely as I do sometimes like to sit at a busy airport and watch the AI traffic.Any suggestions much appreciated.

I've been wondering what causes your aircraft when taxiing or just parked; to get a case of the jumpies and getting jiggy with it?If it keeps up the aircraft can end up crashing while doing an impression of a low rider contest in East LA ;-). I use to think it was just a poorly done freeware flight model etc. but now I'm seeing it on all of my payware aircraft as well sometimes. Can someone please enlighten me as to what is going on?

This is the case: I have Active Camera. I don't know when or why it happened, but, like most of us, I intall stuff and configure my sim all the time. All of a sudden, the movement in VC is way too fast when I use the numpad to move around. One touch on a key, and my pov is outside in open air before I know it. Very dangerous without a chute!Anyone who know how to fix, I'd be very happy!

Hi AllJust a quick question I was under the impression that this program would prevent AI aircraft from interferring with your landing.I was on final approach when a 737 AI aircraft passed overhead of my aircraft when I was approximately 3 miles from touchdown.Possibly I do not have my settings in the correct postion.I downloaded the program and didn't change the settings. Can someone advise what the settings should be.Tks. for any advise.Kenny G.
