  1. I was flying out of KJFK last night with the PMDG 747 only to find framerates over the city was horrible. Even after I flew out of the city over more rural terrain I was still having sim performance problems. This led me to believe there was a memory leak somewhere. I renamed the extra autogen file to 'autogen.bak' and tried the flight again. Though not perfect framerates and texture loading improved over New York City.I've found the whole east coast area (USA) to be terrible on framerates around major cities. New York is the worst. I wonder even though Microsoft released the 9.1 patch (which I've checked extensively to make sure I was totally up to date) the there s…

  2. As some might know, over the past few years I have built up an airline-specific web presence for Cathay Pacific, which airline I came to know well during my time in Hong Kong. I was in shipping playing with cruise vessels, but my parent company Swire managed Cathay and I probably flew on the airline twice a week on average. So I have a soft spot for CX, and the site just grew from an early page for FS2000, to one for FS2002, and today for FS2004:www.swiremariners.com/cathayhk.htmlI am fascinated to know how many other sites readers know of that showcase the history of specific real world airlines for flight sim. I'm not sure I know of any, but there must be some, surel…

Does anyone know where I can get a BAe jetstream 41 for FS2004. (Freeware/Payware). The only jetstream I know of is only useful for AI traffic as it is a very poor model with little detail (although I understand that it was the authors first attempt, so it was certainly a better model than I could ever do!). I have done countless searches on the internet and they all lead to the same model. Where I live jetstream 41 are used often and are a quite unique aircraft. Please help somebody! Thanks

A "postcard" format video. This is a "draft" version of a longer video I am sketching out. I made this on the low-spec development laptop so it's not as smooth looking as it is on my main FS rig (but the kids never let me on the uber-PC, grrrrr!). Anyway, here it is, a gentle ride through hills SW of Brisbane, done in a single take. Music is by yours truly :)http://vistaoz.org/videos/VOZ_Postcard1.zip - 77MB, WMVHD 1280x720

I just browsed around and found an announcement for "FSCOM" - an ATC add-on with 'real' voices, voice recognition, the ability to fly SID/STARs and much more. It looks really interesting and from what I can see is really well done (judging from the interface).http://www.pointsoftware.deWonder why noone ever noticed it - no good? The feature list looks impressive and although I didn't read anything about AI interaction, I suppose that it works with the FS AI as well, as it is more an adventure generator and nothing that looks too proprietary.I just downloaded the demo and will play around for it for awhile.Cheers.Edit: Added the link...

Okay all this is driving me NUTS . . Has anyone here been watching Sci Fi? The movie "The Triangle"? And see that AWACS twin bird they keep flying? ##### make and model is that and is it available for download anywhere (payware or freeware)? I feel embarrassed that I keep seeing the thing crystal clear in the movie and can't tell what it is!

Hi. Can anyone who owns this software tell me whether there is a Cathay Pacific livery, please? I don't see one listed in the description of the add-on, and the address I have for Ralph Tofflemire has produced no response.Thanks. I don't see any liveries for Ralph's product in the libraries, so I suppose my last question is, does he not allow repaints of his product? If anyone can send me an email address for Ralph that they know to work, I'd be grateful. My first query got moved to the hardware forum, presumably because I wasn't specific enough. What I'm actually looking for is a simple but reliable benchmark for Flight Simulator, to test the results of various settings. Benchmark might be a recorded flight, for example.

I have noticed some really nice videos from various forum sources and sites made by some very talented and artistic simmers. Just recently, I downloaded the FScene 2005 one as well as some shorter clips from referrals on Avsim. Some have really nice music and I can almost picture in the near future an available "full length" video on flight sim flights as one might see from a real plane. My question is, how do you "shoot" these videos and also add music. They seem beautifully edited, and I can't imagine it being done just with the video option within FS itself, although maybe that's all that was used. Does anyone know how to go about this and can anyone do it? Thanks. T…

Hi!I have a problem conserning the AI Separation-program by Armando Di Francesco. Until yesterday the program worked fine. Suddenly there came up an error-messaget which said; "Input string is not in correct format. Couldn`t store (34.8647) in Latitude Column. Expected type is Single." Further down the details-section of the note, it said something about enabling the JIT- just-in-time debugger. I have no idea of what that means. The program requires Microsoft.net Framework 2.0 to work properly. I reinstalled this program to check out if the problem was around here, but it didn`t help. Anybody who knows how to fix this?Regards,Jan Ove Larssen

Thought I'd reinstall FS2002 just to check something out. Clicked for a default installation. Everything runs smoothly......or so I thought! Clicked to run FS2002...error..."FS9 something or other dll is a third party program and may not run...." FS9? Eh? That's in a separate folder! Looks at the path for FS2002.exe. CMS GameszFS9... What?! Oh bother. I need to uninstall FS2002 and see what I've done. Try to run FS9. Error Scenery.cfg missing. Error Terrain.cfg missing. What the....!!!Now the question is. Do I need to completely reinstall FS9? If so, do I need to completely reinstall all my add ons?

I am attempting to make movies with a combination of FRAPS, Windows Movie Maker and Blaze Media Pro. My issue is that when using FRAPS, I was wondering what the best settings are.My current FRAPS settings are 60FPS with Full Size. However when I try to record in FS my FPS in the sim drop like crazy while using FRAPS. Are there any artists out there who use FRAPS or can recommend possibly another capture program that can capture high quality footage?I want quality, but if my FPS in FS drops so much, that kind of kills off the quality thought. I tried recording videos at "Half Size" and that improved FPS in FS, but the video quality sucks at half size.Any tips?
