Hi folks,I've tried a couple of Alphasim A/Cs earlier, and I was not impressed at all. Now the F8 got 4 stars here at Avsim.I bought a Saab Wiggen from Alphasim, and I never use it. The cockpit (both 2d and vc) just don't give the right feeling, with bitmaps instead of real gauges here and there, and a very flat look.But I wish the F8 really deserves those 4 stars. It looks tempting with a fighter that runs smooth, the external model looks nice, and Alphasim makes good airfiles according to what I've heard.So, have anyone else tried it? Are the vc gauges smooth? Is the vc better than average Alphasim products? Should I buy it?Eagle

I just went though couple of tests with textures. 32bit and DXT3. I noticed that if the texture contains alpha channel, textures become ugly jagged non-anti-aliased edges. Ruins the looks of the whole aircraft.I then installed DXT3 textures, without alpha, and it all looked darn smooth. And I know alpha channels are for reflectivity... So I checked that, and everything looked the same.I was testing with Iberia texture for PMDG 747. One was DXT3 non alpha, other was 32bit alpha. Although the alpha channel, when edited was almost totally white, so maybe that is the problem. The darker the alpha, the more reflectivity, am I right on this one?Anyway, what's the deal with alph…

I was just about to buy UT from flight1 when I saw the release of MyTraffic 2006 on the front page.I was wondering if anyone was using it yet and what they thought so far.I know it's still early days but I didn't want to jump in feet first with MyTraffic instead of UT without some user info.RegardsDavid GAFG

I have installed Flightsoft's HK2004 , but i get a problem with nearby Macau -- the runways are covered with grass.Anybody know a fix ?Peter

I was thinking of getting the new V4, and happened to check out the demo video on their site. I'm a bit disappointed to be honest. The voice seems more robotic than the standard FS. OK you're getting a much better ATC environment, but I don't think I could listen to those voices all the time. Also the speach seems to be emtremely quick, and hard to understand - OR is that me? For those that have V3 and those that already have V4, is this video accurate to the finished product?Cheers

I have 2 Samsoft Sceneries, "Shanghai Today 2004", and "The Very Singapore"I have been experiencing severe memory degradation and increasing page file usage in both scenery areas.Searching the forums I came across a post regarding Landclass .bgl files causing such a problem when they are in a scenery file in a scenery folder with a texture folder. In both of those sceneries the LC files are mixed in the main scenery folder which also has a texture folder. I created a sperate Landclass folder for each scenery, put the LC .bgl's in there assigned the folder in the FS9 scenery cfg, and VIOLA!! NO more memory leak I'm now going to check all my other sceneries.Paul Gardner

How to remove the cockpit view?I only want the gauses view!

Hi All,I'm having trouble with taxi speeds, regardless of size or type of aircraft. Seems like in just a couple of seconds taxi speed is up to 35-40 kts. Braking drops it, of course, but it shoots up again. Sometimes an aircraft will creep while drpressing the brake on joystick.Any ideas about how to return to more normal taxi speeds?ThanksBob

Does anyone else have this problem. I get frequent crashes when running FS9 ranging from CTD to out of memory messages and blue screen.I have installed the fs9.1 update and have the XP service pack 2.I thought that the problem was overheating but dont think that is my problem as i recently re installed FS2002 and it runs perfect with no issues at all.I have been running it for the past week doing 7-8 hr flights. Normally FS9 will crash after about 6 hrs running.but it can vary from anything from 15 mins.Dont think i have any hardware issues as the computer only crashes with fs2004. I recently changed my monitor as my old one just suddenly packed up and the crashes appear …

i have vols 1-4 of jf vfr plus the vfr terrain mesh installed and working beautifully. i have recently observed a funny problem with the map image and gps image of the area around bristol: the land area for around 60 sq miles appears to be replaced by water on the map and gps, whereas the scenery itself appears completely normal. [http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/135356.jpg]. flying in and out of the bristol area does not suggest the major disruption which the map image implies. i do not know when the problem appeared. i have not noted it in spot checks around several land-water interfaces in the uk. can anyone suugest where the problem lies and how i might try to elim…

While checking FS9 for increasing and finding out what the frame rate impact would have if removing the traffic.bgl installed by Ultimate Traffic, I discovered a directory in FS9 called "Scenedb". I thought that FS9 did not install a "Scenedb" folder as in previous FS2002. However, in this foler there is an "afdfiles/scenery" folder with camafd.bgl, usscaf01.bgl thru usscaf06.bgl and usswaf05.bgl files inside. Also there is an "ATC/Scenery" folder inside the "Scenedb" with a "traffic.bgl" file in it. I have several addons installed in FS9 and would hate to uninstall any to see what might have created this "scendb" folder. Would anyone might know offhand which addon might …

Anyone tried the demo yet from http://mytraffic2004.com/version4/?It consists of an .exe file in a zip which is supposed to do everything painlessly. I can see a new traffic file in the world/scenery folder, but I am not seeing any new aircraft at Seattle. Just the same ole Landmarks, Soars etc.Peeping inside the .bat files which it installs in fs9 root folder, it should have renamed the old traffic bgl to a .passive file suffix. It doesn't look as if it did, so both old and new traffic bgl files exist in the world/scenery folder. Does this matter?I suspect I have missed some other extra installation steps. --Bryn

I don't have a flight planner software. I do have access to the AOPA DUAT flight planner on the internet.What I want is.. to decide on a flight plan including a DP and STAR. but I don't want to type in every detail of the DP and STAR into the lfight planner. Which flight planner does this? then i want to be able to Export this and import into Radar contact for e.g.Can I just enter my flight plan using the Reality XP Garmin 530 FPL and then select departure procedure there and then build the flight plan on the Reality XP 530 and export that out as a flight plan that would be understood by FS2004 and/or Radar Contact?MannyI want to enter just this.From Abiline, TX to Housto…
