Hangar Chat
This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar. Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here. Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc. Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view. We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life.

Is it just me, or have some annoying adverts suddenly appeared overnight on this site? A bar that rises from the bottom of the screen, a large advert at the bottom of a forum page, a small window that opens up on the lower right, and also a full page advert now and again when I change pages. I would prefer these adverts to be disabled on my PC, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Just let me know if I need to make a donation to sort it out.

It is Saturday and my team just lost, so that is why I am asking such an obtuse question. If I am a software publisher/retailer and have successfully sold Aircraft and Airports for many years for existing flight simulators but now have switched to developing for a new flight simulator, why would I want to stop selling my old products? Correct me if I am wrong (probably am) but the software master copy, for want of a better term, is still on my server. It only takes up a couple of Gigs space. It does not cost anything to maintain. I do not have to update it . It does not go mouldy like actual products may. I do not need to employ extra staff. I can still have it …

One of last 12 known survivors of 7 Dec 41 passed at 100. He was stationed on Ford Island during the attack as an aviation machinists mate. After the war he worked in the aviation industry. His obit quoted him: After retirement "[My] full time hobby now is still flying, only with Microsoft Flight Simulator". It said he enjoyed flying old navy aircraft in the sim. Internment will be in Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Fla.

I have dabbled over the years with FPS (first person shooter) games. A few weeks here and a few there, but when lockdown was announced, I thought, what the hell am I going to do with my time… there’s only so much time I can dedicate to simming! I installed Sniper Elite 4, effectively it is what it says on the can. A role playing game with a story, of sorts. Very enjoyable. However, I had never tried the multiplayer side of things. When I did, I was hooked! Incredibly engaging and can be extremely sociable. Making online ‘friends’ and going into battle with a team that you chat and interact with is great fun. At 72 I guess I’m a big kid at heart, but I don’t mind. It keeps…

One of my favorite songs by one of my favorite singers. There's thunder clouds round the hometown bay As I walk out in the rain through the sepia showers and the photoflood days I caught a fleeting glimpse of life. And though the water's black as night The colours of Scotland leave you young inside There must be a place under the sun where hearts of olden glory grow young There's a vision coming soon Through the faith that cleans your wound Hearts of olden glory will be renewed Down the glens where the headlands stand I feel a healing through this land A cross for a people like a wound through your hands There must b…

Anyone else have the new flightsim.to site using scroll bars in order to see everything? I get the vertical but, now you need to use a horizontal scroll bar as well.

If anyone was missing my presence, this has not been a good two years. Last year I was hospitalized four times; the first two times were for severe lung congestion, the third bout turned out to be two bleeding ulcers (where I lost 4 units of blood), and I closed out 2025 with yet another case of lung congestion. This year I managed to fall and break the hip ball and socket of my right leg. Last week I was able to read the surgeon's report and learned that for a brief moment I was technically dead, having stopped breathing entirely. Fortunately, they had everything ready and immediately intubated me and also inserted a feeding tube, since I needed to be kept under ane…
