Traveling by prop, classic airliners.

I watched the first part of it Tu Fun.   I'll watch the whole thing when I have a bit more time.  It got me to thinking of all the oldies I ever flew on as a passenger.

Douglas DC-3

Douglas DC-4

Douglas DC-6

Boeing Stratocruiser

Lockheed Super G Constellation

Convair 580

And while I was in the the Air Force a Douglas C-124 we called "Old Shakey" and a Grumman SA-16 Albatross.

In 1939 or 1940 when I was about 6 or 7 years old an spending the summer on the family farm in Michigan a barnstormer came to town (Frankfort MI) in a Ford Trimotor.  I don't remember the details but we got a short flight in it.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

I've flown the Heracles when simulating old Imperial Airways flights from the 1930s, along with the Short Brothers Calcutta, Scylla, and Kent aircraft.

What I wouldn't give to be able to fly on one of these babies.
