Hangar Chat

This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar.  Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here.  Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc.  Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view.  We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life.

  1. Started by Stormtrooper,

I used to race around my post in Korea with R/C Trucks back in the day. (90-91) Parent hood has since restricted my hobby, but i hope to get back into it soon. This time with R/C helos Tamiya Bigfoot painted as the CUCV my platoon was assigned.

Not sure where this should be placed but I'm sure a moderator will assign it. Very innovative! Ever see a 737 with flapping wings? http://www.wimp.com/hobbitcommercial/

Hey guys, I don't want to seem lazy (as I would do this myself if I had access to my rig), but I have a request. If there is anyone who has the Flight 1 King Air 200, the new one with the G1000, can they find a way to get the G1000's altitude alarm and potentially email/upload it somewhere for me to access? I'd love to have that as a text tone on my phone haha. Thanks for the help!

I really would like to have a nice A330 in my hangar. I've been tempted by the Black box simulation A330 for months but haven't bought it because my impression is that it's only partially done and may actually aggravate me more than pleasure me. Since it's now 40% off I'm getting closer to pickin' it up? I realize there is a topic on this already but I thought I would refresh it? If you own this I would really appreciate some honest feedback on it.

  8. Hi guys, I aplogize in advance if this has been discussed and I didn't notice. I believe the Achievements are supposed to work automatically, meaning they are automatically assigned as certain coditions are met. Based on the name of the achievements, I thought that once I land 10 times I will see that I will be awarded the corresponding level. I don't, or maybe I don't look in the right place. Can anybody advise on what I should see happening and what are the conditions to meet for all to work well? Also, is there a way to save your flight on the SD card as a video clip? Thanks Dobs.22

What a end of the year for the simmers ... That's the truth!!!! Christmas arrived earlier to our credit cards and simmer lives! - X-Plane10 getting SUPERB! and most of i thanks to freeware initiatives like that HD v2 Mesh by Andras Fabian ( Alpilotx ). Sky MAXX Pro brings X-plane 10 closer to the skies we have in FSX and P3D with their best weather configuration programs. Proper weather injection still lacks in X-Plane, but will certainly come with time... There are already very good aircraft addons for X-plane 10, an upcoming Superb iXEG 737, and PMDG announcing their commitment to the "X-Plane cause" :-) - P3Dv2 released and with promising future! I'm an X-P…

I'm new to the i worrld with a used iPad coming in the mail. Very disappointed how hard it is to browse/search iTunes library for apps. Has anyone created a windows utility to do an organized power search the iPad/iPhone section of iTunes directly from a computer?

  16. Excuse me while I say this, People are going insane over Prepar3d like it has been the greatest gift to flight sim, which is fine everyone has a right to be excited. However I have been following the forums closely for the past couple of days to see what people are saying and there is one thing I need clarification on. Simmers have been trying to find a way to get past the OOM's, Stutters, low FPS, and the horrible night flying in FSX forever, and to me it seems like they have missed what has always been right infront of their faces. I fly both FSX and Xplane and also have Prepar3d and people refuse to see the potential (much more potential if you ask me) Xplane offer…

Its amazing when you remember that the flying in this game is essentially a throwaway, tossed in just to break things up a bit. Lots of loving details. Whoops, Brain fart. I meant the title to Say GTAV

After spending all day yesterday making multiple hams, turkeys and other Thanksgiving fare, its almost time to form a caravan and head out to the yearly family rendezvous. But before I head out in a few, I wanted to extend to everyone best wishes for a safe and happy Thanksgiving. For those travelling like me, drive safely and look out for the Highway Patrol!!! I ate too much Turkey, I ate too much corn, I ate too much pudding and pie. I'm stuffed up with muffins, And way too much stuffing, I'm probably going to die. I piled up my plate, and I ate and I ate, But I wish I had known when to stop, For I'm so crammed with yams, sauces, gravies and jams, …

I have sat here over the past week thinking about the massive strides this hobby has made over the past 30 years or so whilst trying to, at least understand, why there is so much posturing, bragging and, an almost wanton fear about progress with the upcoming release of P3d v2. And then I saw this and all fell into place https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/737-flight-simulator.-best/id740191225?ls=1&mt=8 What has this world come to?

Are you tired of papers? Then you must use this app! The app contains the most important Airbus A330 checklist categories: - BEFORE START - AFTER START - BEFORE TAKEOFF - AFTER TAKEOFF/CLIMB - APPROACH - LANDING - AFTER LANDING - PARKING - SECURING THE AIRCRAFT - EMERGENCY EVACUATION This is perfectly for flight simmers! It can be used on any flight simulator software like Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 (FS2004), Microsoft Flight Simulator X (FSX), X-Plane and more. Compatible with all flight simulator A330s.

  24. With Prepar3D V2 coming out, i imagine a large number of FSX users will switch. What will you do? Personally, I will go from X-Plane to P3D V2 just for the addons and increased performance (Using Airbus X at an ORBX airport while using REX and various addons and getting an acceptable FPS is my dream! ). However, PMDG currently doesn't support P3D, so will that effect your decision? Will you stay with FSX? Or go to X-Plane since PMDG announced a project for it?

Last year there were huge sale just after Thanksgiving. I picked up lots of Airport sceneries from FSDT and other addons. Any idea what kind of sales we may get this coming Friday? What would you like to see on sale? What would you buy on sale that you would otherwise not buy?
