A quite extraordinary story from India. Venom in your digestive system won’t kill you. Best not to try this at home as the saying goes. 😉 Free to read from British Daily Telegraph. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/gift/850b103d02a706dd

I sold my Prius yesterday. I just feel I'm too old to drive anymore. A week or so I blew a stop sign at a four way stop. Luckily there were no cars in the intersection. I noticed the stop sign out of the corner of my eye as I passed it and it scared me. So, after a week or more of thinking about it, I sold my beloved Prius back to the dealer I bought it from in 2019. It's just one more item to drop from my 'able to do' list. No more flying, no more wilderness hiking, no more fly fishing and wading streams and rivers, no more sex, no more running a mile and a half a day...a whole lot of no mores. But life …

Concorde was a unique aircraft and the most aesthetically pleasing to many people. I can remember so clearly hearing an AF Concorde had crashed shortly after takeoff from Paris De Gaulle. Whilst modifications were made to minimise the chances of it even happening again the events in the US 14 months later would eventually lead to it being withdrawn from service. The aviation world took a huge step backwards. Mach 2 back to Mach 0.84. This video explains very well the many events that transpired to cause the accident. Mike Bannister’s excellent “Concorde” gives a great insight into the crash investigation and is mandatory reading for anyone interested in avi…

I am not trying to make light of anything. This is simply just something to say before I fully leave. SweetD31 had made an absolutely stunning Custume Barracks scenery out of the absolute kindness of his heart in response to a request I made for Irish helipads. He put a LOT of time and effort into it, but ultimately something was wrong, initiated on my behalf. I have an unhealthy (very) fixation, if not obsession of scenery recreation being in the "geographically correct" spot, and I refused to control myself. I said it in a way that came off as very disrespectful, and ungrateful, letting everything slip by as if I was the victim. He and scianoir r…

For something completely lighthearted, the Savannah Bananas are playing in Philadelphia today and tomorrow. I'm watching the game now, what a hoot! The first time I have ever seen a game. I've only seen short snippets previously. The Phillies' Citizen's Bank Park is sold out, 42,000 people. My wife and her friend have tickets for tomorrow, weather permitting. You've got to love a game where a fan in the stands can make an out by catching a foul ball. If you need a laugh, watch a game. Good for the mental health. https://thesavannahbananas.com/

Is the so called godfather of AI correct. Is there a 20% chance AI will no longer need us and get rid of us? Or will the human race incorporate safeguards that make sure AI won't want to do that? And how far away is the point where AI becomes the dominant intelligence? It's a long pod cast but they do get right into it.

With the recent passing of Hulk Hogan, I have been reminded, primarily of events of my youth. Growing up in Vancouver in the 1960's, on Saturday mornings. my brothers and I would all sit down to watch All Star Wrestling...on a B&W TV no less. The most notable, was watching Gene Kiniski (who billed himself as "Canada's Greatest Athlete"). Other notable names that flashed across that screen from the era: Abdullah the Butcher, Andre the Giant, Erich Froelich, John Quinn, Killer Kowalski, Rick Martel and Stan Stasiak being the ones I remember off the top of my head. It was nothing "flashy" like today's over-promoted extravaganzas...just a couple of TV came…

Hulk Hogan passed today of cardiac arrest. I'm not a big wrestling fan, be he truly was legend! This was mentioned in the Ozzy thread by Tamba, not to steal his thunder. So in the last week we've lost: 1. Malcolm-Jamal Warner 2. Ozzy 3. Hulk Hogan Hopefully that's it for a while🙏

So last week I had responded to Matthew's post about feeling lonely, the importance of asking for help and the larger impact outside of flightsim that Avsim has had for some of us myself imparticular. Sometimes this place is literaly an outlet for some of us which makes some of the bickering and petty arguing so frustrating. To recap, my last 7 years have been an extreme challenge and every time I think I may be turning a corner I seem to have the rug pulled out from under me. Some people here know about my fall a few weeks ago which left me with a fractured wrist and hand, displaced rib fractures and torn rib cartilage. Here is a "quick" synopsis of my las…

He's not really part of my cultural gestalt: I guess I knew of him the same way I knew of the Beatles, and he remained a presence that reminded me of times I was never really a part of. Nonetheless I can feel that another piece of living history that we can never get back is gone forever. I'm talking about music headphones. One on their top of chart for closed hifi headphones is the cheapest they tested. It's over ten times cheaper than the one above it. Fiio FT-1. Again, a closed headset, not open air. https://www.amazon.com/FiiO-FT1-Closed-Back-Headphones-Detachable/dp/B0D9QD4Y2P
