For Audi's self driving concept car to be called the Gransphere, the steering wheel will fold away out of sight to make more room and give the front seat area a sort of party lounge layout. I hope this car really is very 'smart' when it zooms down the highways. https://www.cnbc.com/2021/09/02/audi-unveils-grandsphere-concept-car-as-a-private-jet-for-the-road.html

This might be old news to a lot of you but I was very intrigued. Have a look. Could it become the basis of a new sim platform?

https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/the-red-warning-light-on-richard-bransons-space-flight This sounds a bit worrying. Should I hold off buying a seat on the next flight?

I learned from mutual friends, that my ex-wife and her current husband were visiting family (hers) down in Arizona, and while they were hiking, she got bit on the trail by a Green Mojave Rattlesnake, which are basically known to carry the most worst and potent venom! She got struck on the side of her right calve! Friends said, that there was three days of unimaginable pain, swelling, and severe sickness...and then, the poor soul, the snake DIED, and sorry to hear, didn't make it! Gawd rest it! Terrible! Just Terrible!

Hi Gentlemen and Gentle Ladies 🙂 This is a shoutout to all the truckers who drive heavy semi trailer trucks around US, Canada, UK, Europe, Australia and other parts of the world while also have a strong passion in aviation. I hope you are all doing well and that you are all safe and chugging forward. I myself just recently passed my CDL A license here in Toronto and I am anxiously waiting for my first solo long haul. Quick question - do you guys treat your trucks as a pilot does to his/her aircraft ? 🙂

Having had multiple variations of flight equipment over the years but never the space to have a dedicated PC just for simming, I am curious how many of us, especially with yokes, have to mount them to our desks every time we want to fly, or keep them mounted to our desks and risk banging our knees on them all the time. I would love to have a Honeycomb yoke and Throttle but my desk space is limited as I also have to work at the same desk and need the table space during the day for the keyboard and mouse. As a result, I only have space for a HOTAS, which I need to 'set up' when I want to fly. I have had yokes in the past but always had to mount them to the desk when…

Silly me. I was at the VA Clinic day before yesterday morning for my semi-annual physical. My provider asked me if I wanted my mega-flu and shingles vaccines while I was there. I wasn't expecting just how sore both my shoulders would get. Double ouch! Aside from some mild hypertension and moderately high blood pressure, I'm apparently in otherwise good health.

Flight simulation "burn out" earlier this year has forced me to look elsewhere for my PC entertainment..... I am now simulating the historical evolution of short period comet orbits with a very impressive piece of software called Halley - an electronic ephemeris of comets. It may not look like much to someone who is not interested in orbital mechanics, but I have always been fascinated with the orbits of short (and indeed, long) period comets. Frequent gravitational perturbations by the planets result in changes to their orbits, and this is fascinating to watch. I have input extremely accurate orbital elements (from the JPL Horizons database) for each of the numbered…

Years ago Reader's Digest published a column called Humor in Uniform each month with jokes about the military and military life. Yesterday a friend and I were exchanging ones we could remember. I think this is the best one I recalled only it might not have been a joke at all. The best Humor in Uniform joke I can remember... During WW2 at a basic training base there were three mess halls. Each one had a 2nd lieutenant mess officer and once a month the mess officer had to submit a number of reports including how many dishes were broken to how many spoiled potatoes were thrown away. It was tedious. One month one of lieutenants got done early and thought he…

...very silly boy https://www.theverge.com/2021/8/27/22644158/elon-musk-jeff-bezos-spacex-blue-origin-lawsuits-complaints-starlink-tweet Sued NASA after losing the contract to SpaceX and lost. Now he's trying to get the FCC to not allow the next cluster of Starlink satalites. I suspect he knows he can't succeed and is just trying to do everything he can to be antagonistic.

Hi everyone, have a general flight sim question that did not seem to fit any of the other forums very well. Moderators please move if there is a better forum that I did not see. Anyways, I recently got a new flight sim PC and it has a smaller SSD with the OS and P3D v4.5 installed to it. I also have lots of Orbx scenery and addon aircraft. Due to limited space, I will have to install one of those 2 things on my secondary internal drive, an HDD, I believe it is 5400RPM. My question is this: in your experiences and knowledge, which would you think would be better to put on the secondary HDD for best performance? Aircraft or scenery? Of course there is the…

I used to fly my simulator with active weather but I gave it up. Today my sky only consists of a 3/8 layer of cirrus 28,000 to 31,000 feet to give the sky some texture. The program I was using several years ago was, to me, unusable because it didn't take into consideration high altitude terrain. I like to fly in the mountains and it bothered me that scattered cumulus at 6,000 feet which looks nice in the lowlands had clouds sitting on the runway and on the ground in the mountains. Have the new dynamic weather programs compensated for that? Noel

Oh my! Lee Marvin night tonight on Turner Classic Movies. The Dirty Dozen followed by Pont Blank followed by The Professionals followed by Pocket Money. Then it will be my bedtime. I love Lee Marvin's comeback line in the Professionals when the rancher calls him a 'bas****'. Marvin comes back and says, "Yes sir. In my case an accident of birth. But you, sir, are a self made man." I've never seen Pocket Money. It's supposed to be comedy starring Lee Marvin and Palk Newman. Should be pretty good. Noel

This is from the AIAA conference on UAP's. Ryan talks about the astonishing events witnessed during the 2015 incident. Where they were seeing them every day, including a 15-20 foot wide cube surrounded by a sphere that flew between two F18's only 50 feet from the lead aircraft. Chris Lehto, retired F16 pilot discusses. https://youtu.be/6oKLgcwYCsE The full conference is below. https://youtu.be/YhUwuaxiiQU

This may be old news to many users, but I thought I'd post it for those unfamiliar with the site... With the re-release of some of Orbx's Alaska products for MSFS, I visited the FAA webcam site after a long break and was redirected to the latest version. They've made some interesting improvements, especially when it comes to integrating all the info on the map. Here is an example with PAKT selected: https://weathercams.faa.gov/map/-132.94433,54.61279,-128.35479,56.27324/airport/KTN/details/camera I especially like the way it shows the sectors (clickable!) covered by the different weather cameras, plus some of the existing stuff, such as "clear day" comparis…
