Many of us are also railroad enthusiasts. Have you heard about the creation of the largest railroad on the North American Continent when Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern merge? Think of it! Vancouver to Halifax...Winnipeg to Kansas City...Kansas City to New Orleans to Houston to Mexico City to Tampico to Lazaro Cardinas! https://www.cnbc.com/2021/09/12/kansas-city-southern-picks-canadian-pacific-31-billion-bid-for-railroad.html

Ever since I began flying sims from FS whenever to P3Dv5 I found it more difficult to land a sim aircraft than a real aircraft. How about you? Noel

Home Alone I was about 10 or 11 years old. Lee was about 7 or 8. Mom and Dad were taking Grandma to Long Beach to board a ship for to visit our relatives in Europe. We were going to be home alone for a whole week. Well, not exactly alone. We were supposed to go to Cousin Emile and Elsie's apartment after they came from work at 5 o'clock. But between the end of the school day and the time we left for our cousin's place, we were left to our own devices. I didn't see Lee after school. I walked home and opened the door. Lee was standing over the kitchen table. His face looked pained. Something was wrong. He told me he had a bad stomach ache, and …

  7. My service contract was going to be up next month, so as I always do, I contacted them a month ahead, and asked to speak with the C.S.L.D. Connecting, I asked for the current deals...and after we 'negotiated' for a bit, with my tactic of "well, I just got Bell's Fiber latest promo in the mail"...my cable ISP, offered me (wow!) just 1/2 hour ago, to go from my present service package speed of 360 Mbits, to a full 1GIG! What was the price to climb 290 percent in speed? It was $25 dollars a month LESS, than what I have been paying for a 360 Mbit speed the last two years. So...they reset my modem , I watched all the lights go out, and then over two minutes come back onlin…

I suppose some of you also got the notice that Orbx has released mesh for Alaska for MSFS. I would like such a mesh for Alaska myself for the simulator I have already filled with over 3,000 dollars worth of Orbx scenery. I feel betrayed. Has Orbx abandoned those of us who have not been baptized and converted to MSFS? FSX and P3D and X-Plane got Orbx to where it is now. But the shiny new object and flashing skirt has redirected their attention. I understand the finances and the follow the money but certainly a bit of loyalty to those who made Orbx what it is today shouldn't be abandoned. Don't tell me to send this to Orbx. I am not allowed to post…

Hot takes incoming! So tired of our PA28's right now (I rotate between 4 individuals). Since last year I've had: Transponder quitting in flight, twice. Turn coordinator, same as above, (VFR day so not a big issue) Head-set jack malfunction Battery drainage before engine start (hand crank necessary by experienced pilots) flat tire when arriving to the hangar for pre-flight inspection. bottomed out oleo strut when arriving to the hangar for pre-flight inspection, twice. Alternator failure. This one happened yesterday and I suspected something was fishy when ammeter was glued at approx 20amps constantly and LOW VOLT Warning-lig…

Computer technology has me buffaloed these days. I can use my fight simulator and send and receive e-mails and write on Word Perfect but little else. Back in the olden days I could write programs and I knew how things worked. I was cleaning our old files the other day and I found this. One of the computer gurus in town was asked to write a short piece for our local paper about the internet. But he wasn't a writer. He had seen some things I had written for the paper before so he asked me to write a short article for them. From 1997...just about 25 years ago. Some of you reading this were just toddlers then Internet 101 It’s on the news every day. You…

I was cleaning out some old files yesterday and ran across this. The director of the play had seen some of the articles I wrote for a local paper and asked if I'd write one about the Roswell Community Little Theater. It's not one of my boyhood stories but rather an old man retirement story. I don't know if any of you ever tried your hand at acting on the stage before, but this is what it was like for me. My Life as an Actor... What do you do when you’re 63 years and recently retired? My next door neighbor John had the answer. He took me to our local community little theater and persuaded me to audition for a part in the next production of You Can’t Take it …

I have only heard this song a few times, as part of an old FSX video, and I never knew anything else about it until today when I bumped into this video, totally by accident. Hilarious!! Bonus: And does anybody remember the FSX video I’m talking about?

I was stationed at Yokota Air Force Base in Japan in the late 50s and early 60s and whenever there was a party or a get together of the bomb dump crew Rusty Warren was the porn of the day. We played her 78 RPM records on our record players, drank beer, danced with our wives and girl friends, and laughed a lot. My wife was Japanese and when she asked me what knockers were I told her chi-chis. This is a real blast from the past. Here she is,,,Rusty Warren Noel

I'm just curious if anyone here has an eBike. I just ordered one yesterday and expect to get it in a few more days. The one I ordered is a "Radrunner Plus" edition. It has a 750wh motor and a 47 amp hour battery. I hope this isn't an expensive mistake, but hopefully it will provide some beneficial cardio exercise. 🙂

  21. Since the release of MSFS there seems to be a huge interest around bush flying and smaller planes. I am hoping that Deadstick will provide us with another sim that has great scenery, a game with great plane handling, and more importantly, a game that will run smooth without needing a 3XXX super video card. There's been a lack of new information from them (their Facebook page states they will be offering more detailed info but their last post is from late June), and the delays have been disappointing. Hopefully, this new interest in flight sims (thanks MSFS) will allow Deadstick to provide us with another option. I was thinking when MSFS came out, i would not be …

Such as the windows desktop icon text. Used to be able to right mouse click and change it's size. Now you cannot. With WinAero Tweaker you still can change text size. And the font, and properties like bold, and vertical and horizontal icon spacing, and more. Desktop Icon text is one of about 50 other things you can change that are not in Windows Settings. All the Window bars and context menus and taskbars areas, etc. Sometimes to see the changes you must click apply and then click logoff which means you have to resign onto windows at windows login screen to see the changes. For other changes it's in real time and you don't have to do that. Their downlo…

The Haunted House The haunted house was located across the street from Dante Hospital, on Broadway Street, between Van Ness and Polk. It was a spooky old Victorian mansion just a block away from Saint Brigid's. An old man lived there all by himself. There were many stories about him, all frightening. We walked by that house every day on our way home from school. We would always look up and see if the old man was peering out one of the windows. If he was, one of the boys would start telling one of the stories he'd heard. One Saturday afternoon Lee and Rich and I were passing the house after going to confession at Saint Brigid's Church. The old man was …
