@Rob_Ainscough thought you would appreciate this! Dorna has mounted a camera in the leathers of MotoGP riders embedded in their shoulder pads. It gives a great perspective to how hard these guys are working. Love this, thought I'd share 🙂 The lean angle in the wet is simply incredible. I think you will have to watch on YouTube due to Dorna content restrictions https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=708muCi1LFg

For me THE CITY will always be New York, were I grew up, but have not been back for years. After being away so long, I sometimes forget the magic of completely unexpected things (good and bad) happening at any time. The blimp crashing into the building right in front of me.... The llamas tied to a parking meter... The street magic, and dancing. The street artists. The street Music.... The different and often unknown foods at every turn... I need to visit again in the summer, and wander.… Be a kid again, for a while.

Anybody know what this is? It is a group of 6 antenna towers in a circular arrangement with a small building in the middle, located at the Albuquerque Intl Airport. I'm guessing it's some sort of navigational aid. Maybe some sort of TACAN? Thanks. Dave

  6. In my neck of the woods the roads are very narrow and the pavement, usually on one side, is even narrower than normal. So there I was walking down the pavement (sidewalk to our US friends) and some people were approaching me. I found myself on the edge of the pavement and just took one step into the gutter to get passed them. So just one foot width off the pavement, a matter of a few inches. Unfortunately, at that very moment, an elderly guy (no disrespect to the elderly) came passed (faster than he should have been given that some builders had cordoned off some of the road) and his door mirror hit my left elbow. I wasn't hurt but if it has been a few mere inch…

The Watch It was a great Christmas. Lee and I got everything we asked for, and more. The extended family had gathered on Christmas Eve to open gifts. Aunty Mit and Uncle Bob, our cousin Emile and his wife Elsie, and Grandma. Dad fixed eggnog for everyone, and Mom set out the plates of Christmas Cookies she spent the past week making. Lee and I were shaking the gifts under the tree making last minute guesses. I think the wrist watches we got from Grandma were our favorites that year. They were gold, with gold expansion bands. They were some sort of symbol or rite of passage. We had worn toy watches before. Tin frames with printed cardboard…

Last night Turner Classic Movies had two gems from Australia. Walkabout and The Last Wave. Walkabout is about a teenage girl and her little brother getting stuck in the outback. They eventually met an aboriginal boy on his walkabout and they team up. The ending is somewhat puzzling. You don't know if they return to civilization or go back to the outback and find the aboriginal boy who helped them. Some nudity but not erotic. Just matter of fact. This would have never played in the US in the 70s with a white girl and a black man swimming naked together in a pond. But it is tasteful. The Last Wave is about a white lawyer defending 5 aboriginal men for mur…

Pretty awesome footage of the new Goodyear blimp with a low pass approach and max performance climb out. Who knew!!! Some of the stats are pretty impressive. The new blimps can perform VTOL stay airborne for 48 hours and cruise at 10,000 feet at 73mph. https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/43041/watch-the-goodyear-blimp-make-a-crazy-zoom-climb-out-of-long-beach-airport

  18. There's an episode of the Andy Griffith Show called "Andy's Investment". Its about how Opie wanted to become a dentist but Andy couldn't afford it so Andy took a second job operating a laundromat and then later Opie overhears a conversation and decides that he should just study hard to get good grades to qualify for the tuition free state college. This apparently ended before my time as I never knew of any free college -- not even the local community college was free. So, did any of you living in the United States have access to free college (based on good grades)? just curious.

Do check your UK driving licence expiration dates people as many are about to expire in 2022. I had to convert mine anyway, due to moving out of the UK but noticed my old paper licence granted me in the 70's was soon to expire. You don't want to get caught out. https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/dvla-license-change-could-force-22075467

  25. A rare tornado passed right across the approaches to 08R and 08L at YVR on Saturday afternoon. Multiple flights were diverted. Check out the Westjet 737 passing in front starting at the 15 second mark. I wouldn't be feeling too comfortable as a passenger or crew member seeing that while taxiing for departure.
