Working a full time job and with other responsibilities, I find it hard to make time for Flight Sim. So I wondered, when do you usually sim? Do you have a set time of the week that you fly? Or maybe just on weekends? Any tips on how to make time for hobbies in general?

This came in my e-mail this morning: "I've been trying to purchase a $200 amazon E-Gift card by email from Amazon, but it says they are having issues charging my card. I contacted my bank and they told me it would take a couple of days to get it sorted. I intend to buy it for a Niece of mine who's having her birthday today. Can you purchase it from your end for me? I'll reimburse you once my bank sorts the issue out. I am just trying to put a smile on her face in this trying times. Let me know so i can send you her email address. - Pattie" I've never seen this one before. Looks like her address book has been hacked.

Noticed we now have a solicitation banner at the bottom of the forums screen on Avsim. Anyone else see this as a bit annoying? There's no way to close it I can find.

My Mother board only takes one M.2 NVMe drive. The old one was almost completely full, so I cloned it and replaced it with another much bigger one. So right now they both have identical files and data on them, and both are bootable of course. 1) I could reformat the old drive, put it in a small holder box with a USB out cord, and use it as an external drive. 2) Or I could just store it as is. In that way if a virus or hardware fault kills the newer larger drive someday, then I could pull out the old drive from safe storage and it would boot up and have all of today's apps and data on it, including today's version of MSFS, and no virus. Is one choice obvious…

At last an effort is being made to see if we really can divert the path of a dangerous asteroid. https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/43024/nasa-is-about-launch-a-planetary-defenses-mission-to-see-if-it-can-change-an-asteroids-path "NASA is about to try to use a kinetic impactor to alter the motion of an asteroid in space in a test that sounds like it was ripped straight from a Hollywood blockbuster disaster flick. The objective is to demonstrate the feasibility of using an interceptor of sorts to deflect future asteroids that might find themselves on collision courses with Earth"

An elderly man in Phoenix calls his son in New York and says, "I hate to ruin your day, but I have to tell you that your mother and I are divorcing. Forty-five years of misery is enough." "Pop, what are you talking about?" the son screams. "We can't stand the sight of each other any longer", the old man says. "We're sick of each other, and I'm sick of talking about this, so you call your sister in Chicago and tell her", and he hangs up. Frantic, the son calls his sister who explodes on the 'phone. She calls Phoenix immediately and screams at the old man. "You are NOT getting divorced. Don't do a single thing until I get there. I'm calling my brother ba…

Ironically this non precision approach to RW23 at NZQN demands some very precise flying! Not for the faint hearted. Air NZ flies A320s and A321s to Queenstown from Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch as well as Australia prior to Covid. It makes a for a good work out in your flightsim of choice. Air New Zealand A320 circuit approach into Queenstown Airport with stunning views - Must see! - YouTube

Last night I had the strangest dream ever! I'll relate it in the form of my dreamed dialog. I suddenly appeared at the gate to hell. Surprised, because priests were rare in hell, a demon gets curious and jumps into my path. "How'd you die?" he thunders at me. I replied, "I had a heart attack." Demon: "Alright, what happened?" Me: "Someone broke my windows, popped the tire on my Harley, and stole all the tools out of my shed." Demon: "Well that'd give some a heart attack alright. But you're a priest! Why are you in hell?" Me: "Well, I was hearing confessions when a boy walked in and said "Forgive me Father, for I have sinned." I asked what…

The graphics look absolutely beautiful. It reminds me of the car version of MSFS for some reason. The 2 titles are quite similar in terms of style, lighting, UI, etc. Anyways I haven't decided on whether or not to purchase it from Steam or MS. I'm probably going to go with the Steam version this time around. I don't like the weird encryption stuff that MS store version has with it's folders and what not, and plus I like to keep all my games if possible in Steam. Also does anyone know if the PC version will have the best performance and graphics? I heard that the console version will be the one with the better graphics, but how is that so? The typical gaming PC u…

Been a really rough few months for me unfortunately. A few trips to hospital, a bunch of blacking out, no energy and no answers for almost 3 months. Turns out it looks like undiagnosed Lyme disease was the culprit bringing down my nervous system causing mini-strokes, hypertension, syncope and the worst fatigue I've felt in ages. I'm now two weeks into my new meds and up to 30 minutes of this everyday. It's the best piece of workout equipment I've ever owned! It does go to show we never really know what is going on with others behind the keyboard though. As I work to improve my empathy in real life I need to do the same here. Oddly enough though, I don't get ne…

Here is me doing a Menzies aviation training video for how to do a final walkaround check prior to headsetting out an airliner. This was on stand 23 at EGCC a few weeks ago with an Icelandair Boeing 757. Because the fixed electrical power is still connected and the bridge is still on as I do this, I've shoved my ear defenders down my jacket out of the way since I'll be putting the headset on shortly. The ramp can be noisy, especially if the APU is running, but my ear defenders were not necessary because the APU was not running and it's convenient to shove them in your jacket like that, however, I'll still have to check the fuselage after the jet bridge has come off the fo…

I have no idea where to post this. Today I received an email from the TFDi forums saying that I was banned for a post that broke the rules. I am not even sure when the last time I posted there was, an I certainly didn't post anything bad whenever that time was. I am afraid someone has hacked into my account and done something. I also realized shortly after that I am banned from the Orbx Forums as well. Something is going on and I don't know how to resolve it. Any help would we appreciated. Cheers, Pete

Note: We all know that Matt is a rather controversial figure in the flight sim world, but please try to keep this discussion civil. An internet person is still a human being... It appears that all the projects currently being developed by Mettar Simulations face a rather uncertain feature with parts of the team quitting and financial investment streams ceasing. Here Matt's statement: https://mettarsim.com/2018/10/20/learn-from-my-mistakes/ TL;DR: Matt decided to take a step back and merely disappear from the public for some time. His investor Nico (the guy who bought AirDailyX and made it an ordinary, bland news site) supposedly didnt keep his promise…

PLEASE! This is not a political post. I got a good laugh out of it and I thought you might too. Please do not respond politically. I am reading Woodward's book Peril. I would recommend it to anyone interested in politics and how political campaigns are run. On the morning after the election when Joe Biden was declared the winner he said, "I feel like the dog that caught the car." I laughed out loud although i was stting in my living room all by myself. I thought that was so funny I had to share it. Noel

...for a great night at the Sands on 11-2-1961. Wow, 60 years ago. Of all the times I've been to Las Vegas and of all the shows I've seen there (and they have been many) this is the only one I really remember and cherish. And I always will.
