I know that lots of things will probably look better, but I am one of those "glass half empty" guys. I see the flaws! 99% of it looks better IMHO. Those missing silos are the only thing I have noticed where 2020 was better. I made that comment with the hope that MS will improve rural areas someday and make them feel more authentic like they have done to cities. Not to imply that rural areas in general look much worse than in 2020. So would you rather miss out on the 99% to keep the 1%? Honestly, I deleted 2020 months ago and haven’t taken a single flight in it since 2024 launched. Just never had any desire to go fly in it. The entire world looks much more authentic and visually pleasing in 2024. However, I am definitely not encouraging you to transition. Sounds like you have plenty of self-awareness about how you would perceive it. It’s not perfect, but to me significantly better than 2020 using SU3 Beta. And it’s where most new development efforts will be focused both at Asobo and 3rd party devs. We’re starting to already see that shift with several developers. So if you focus on the gaps like what’s missing, wrong, etc., I would stick with what you’re familiar. After all, this is supposed to be fun and bring you joy, not be a cause for frustration. You can make the leap whenever you choose. But at the end of the day, it’s a piece of software that cost $70-130. So if you decide to eventually pick it up and then find you don’t like it, shelve it until it gets to a point where you do. I’ve wasted more money on a poor dining experience than what it costs.
August 16, 2025Aug 16 To be fair, I made that post before remembering that my PMDG 737-600 is not officially compatible with MSFS 2024, so I may not have upgraded up this point. As for taking a chance on MSFS 2020, it took me three years to summon up the courage to make the switch from P3Dv4. Part of the reason was all of the fantastic looking airport addons that were being developed for it, but also the fact that the PMDG 737 was available, and also because I just thought that it had received lots of upgrades and fixes since it was released. I will continue to monitor the situation, but I do need that PMDG 737...... Nah, the grain silos are modeled in 2020 where I live. I haven’t checked the entire globe. And it doesn’t matter when they were added to 2020, they are provided by Asobo within the sim and I didn’t need to mod or change any files. And yes, those are better in 2020. But I’ve proven you wrong before with your declarative disputations with no apology or recognition from you that you were wrong after making misinformed statements. https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/675925-msfs-developer-twitch-qa-for-july-23/#findComment-5528542 Edited August 16, 2025Aug 16 by Gulf76

The people I'm parodying go to a topic they don't have an interest in, say, "I'm not interested in this, sorry," and then leave. I make fun of them because I find it fascinating and so very odd to do that.

But unless you can provide me a screenshot from an un-modded 2020, I won't believe you about the grain silos. I can't find anything on google about silos and barns in 2020, other than people complaining they don't exist. the first US World Update Autogen still works because I can still see shopping malls and gas stations, which were something added in that update. September 10, 2025Sep 10 Did they ever add custom sounds to the PAC P-750 XSTOL or does it still use the default Caravan sounds? Only an extra $15 for it in the one Jurassic World bundle. Edited September 10, 2025Sep 10 by Gulf76
September 10, 2025Sep 10 Trailer is a little bit slim, no? Are those buildings accesible by walking? Are there smaller Dinosaurs? Do they move around also in the forests? September 10, 2025Sep 10 Ouch! 31.99 USD. Pretty high for such a niche product. Good luck with it but I'll wait for a sale and decide then if I need it. -J 13700KF | RTX 4090 @ 1440 | 64GB DDR5 | 2 x 1TB SSDs | 1TB M.2 NVMe
