  1. I don't understand why you did this Fielder. The final SU5 beta will simply convert to the full release version anyway when Asobo choose to make it live.
  2. @Rocky_53 Maybe you should change you thread title to "Looks like I'll stay with 2024 then..." Personally, I have both installed, but I was lucky and bought a 4TB Samsung 990 Pro before the prices went silly.
  3. Yes, absolutely - I am with you on this Rocky. I am back with 2020 as well. I just can't stand the jarring effect when moving between inside and outside the cockpit. Don't they see this at Asobo? There is no way to fix it, it is a sim issue. I have wasted hours and hours trying to fix it, which is one of the things I am really bitter about - wasting my limited time. It was introduced with SU4 (SU3 was great for me and performance was already fine). Ignore those that say it isn't a problem. It seems they don't see anything wrong with 2024, yet it is all over YouTube. It's a disgrace that a modern 'cutting edge' simulator should be left in this state. There is delayed rendering going both ways from inside to outside - appalling. See just one recent example below from YouTube. Many video creators have now switched to editing the transition between outside view and the cockpit because the effect looks so bad.
  4. I wonder how Rob Young is doing these days, and if he had anything to do with the Duke's that came out, as he was a bit of an expert in that area.
  5. I scanned it with ESET. Says all is OK. I will try it over the next day or two when I get time. Thanks to @Alvega for the heads-up!
  6. Ron! Where have you gone? Is your computer still alright?
  7. Slow rendering fixed when going between cockpit and outside and back?
  8. Firstly, there is no need to do this unless you encounter trouble. Secondly, if you really need to do this (I never have in five years of MSFS) why keep moving the Community folder about when you can just rename it something like xCommunity the rename it back at any time? MSFS will create a new empty Community folder on startup when it doesn't find one, but when you want to put it all back to how it was, you simply delete that new empty one and rename xCommumnity back to Community. Job done, no moving or copying.
  9. True - Good points! I don't have the iniBuilds 350 yet, so this may tempt me to hold on to see what they are offering.
  10. It is such a pity how much development time is dedicated to duplicate aircraft when we have so many other aircraft we haven't seen for 2024 yet. Still, that is down to the developer to take that gamble. It is just a shame we can't get some gaps filled, especially with some classics like the B737-200 etc.
  11. 1. Specular highlights on the water - what happened to them? They looked spectacular. 2. Instant load back into the cockpit without waiting for it to redraw. Noticed the external objects were also taking time to redraw as well on AvAngels last video when she was going from inside to outside the aircraft.
  12. I know what you mean. In FSX / P3D I used to do things like buy the whole Just Flight DC-8 series, from DC-8-10 to DC-8-73 just to have the whole set and all those lovely liveries, but then I think I only ever flew two variants. Great times though.
  13. I believe all other models (600 / 700 / 900) were a fair bit cheaper than the -800 in 2020, so I would expect the -700 to be about $65 for 2024. I got the -600 for only about $35 in 2020 and I loved it, so I will go for the update in 2024. I am still considering if I will update to the -800 after the 'few cups of coffee' fiasco. The update for that is a bit more than I expected, but maybe the new updates will make it worthwhile.
  14. I hope not. They still haven't fixed the slow loading cockpit instruments and some LOD issues. SU3 was the best for me. Not been so good since.
  15. No. He is after 1.7.17.0 released today. Strange being Easter Monday I know! https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/sim-update-5-beta-1-7-17-0-release-notes-april-6-2026/762069
  16. Does this already come with some liveries included? I could have sworn I saw a picture of a Caledonian one but I can't seem to find that in the inibuild liveries manager.
  17. Q: IniBuilds L-1011: How will you fly the TriJet ? A: Like it was stolen! But in all seriousness, mainly just hand fly it with the help of a few navaids and autopilot occasionally. I am not a deep systems guy due to lack of time, and I just want to appreciate it and all of those glorious liveries they created. Pure nostalgia for me.
  18. Well... I learnt what a wind barb is!
  19. Sure. See Ali's picture above to see what I mean about the changes. Hopefully those settings will be a good start. I will experiment.
  20. Sincere thanks! This will suit me as I don't use eye tracking either. I will try it tomorrow as it is bed time here in the UK now.
  21. Thanks for taking the trouble Tom but that wont work. I already had good settings similar to yours in SU4 - they worked great. Unfortunately it is all changed for SU5. There are about twice as many sliders and the descriptions are vague. It's completely different - all messed up, and the old working settings don't carry over. There will be a some unhappy Tobii users when the SU5 final goes live (not long now), unless maybe we can put some good new slider settings together on here to give users a start. It's just another thing Asobo have changed and made difficult to no real advantage as far as I can see. Still... we have a nice picture of the tobii on the settings page now - great!
  22. The new API appears to have made it smoother, but the slider settings are nothing like before. I have wasted an hour on this and I am still some distance from getting it back like before (Pre SU5) Any idea which settings give all the degrees of freedom (forward/backwards and higher/lower?), I seem to get close to the side to side speed setting I want, then lose this ability. Thanks in advance for any replies. Hopefully we can have some starter setting for all users, as I don't understand half of the terminology on the sliders.
  23. Wow! These Ini guys are definitely enthusiasts. Two Court Line and two Eastern liveries (white and chrome). Some snarky people will probably say that these liveries shouldn't be in there as they never flew -500's, but I don't care. They aren't harming anybody plus they would have been done on FS.to anyway by somebody. This jet might actually bring me back to the sim. Now if Asobo could just fix the word not allowed slow cockpit redraw issues, things would be great.
  24. Against the Jetstream it might be the case. I think my transatlantic Tristar stopped at Bangor as well for a top up. It might not have been a -500 though, and we were lucky to escape the Langoliers!
