February 11, 20251 yr I think it alleviates the need for the Tile Mod at least in NA where I fly. FS 2024 looking good so far. dd
February 11, 20251 yr I'm wondering what terrain morphing/popping is like with mountains and hills in 2024? February 11, 20251 yr MSFS 2024 must be using some different terrain images when compared to MSFS 2020, as the horrible mismatched colouration joint line east of EHLE Lelystad is apparently not there in MSFS 2024. I would be interested to know if the "Sahara dust bowl" textures that are prevalent in southern England when using MSFS 2020 are also present in MSFS 2024. I am flying with both LOD's at 200, and I think it is better than 2020. I still see the odd morph but it doesn't seem to bother me so much, maybe because the scenery seems so much better to start with. Things that bug me are the yellow runway turn off signs still popping up at a short distance, same as in 2020. I wish they would fix that. LOD settings don't affect it, so it must be an internal setting. I am thinking it might actually be a left over from FSX, so Asobo might not be able to find it! Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio. I was hoping that local LOD thing would have been sorted out by now. I find it really bad at some airports and not at others. I'm sure they could mend it if they put their mind to it. I notice at Inibuilds Queenstown in particular, on approach to Rwy05, almost on top of the runway and all the baggage carts begin popping into view! That's just one example, of course there are many. It would be great if it could be sorted. No. They're still using the previous Bing data for the UK as far as I can make out. The resolution is far superior, especially over previously 'melty' London but it's still that late summer/early autumn image.

February 11, 20251 yr The lottery of Orthos is like that, some areas get better, others get worse and others stay the same. If you go outside North America and Europe everything gets worse in general, some areas look better in fsx with mods than in MFS.

February 11, 20251 yr Whatever it is they are using in 2024 I certainly feel no need to use the Map Enhancement Mod which I found to be essential in 2020. I think there was a similar issue with FSLTL dropping FSHud support recently, because FSLTL's data source objected to a commercial product using its service. Maybe Asobo could make FS2024 free, then we get new maps 🙂 FS2024 • PMDG 738, 77F • FSL A321 • A2A Comanche, Aerostar • BS Baron, Bonanza, Caravan Pro • JF Tomahawk • TAOG H500C BeyondATC • GSX Pro • ChasePlane & Flow Pro • TDS GTNXi • FSUIPC • AutoFPS • RealTurb 9800X3D B650E • ROG OC RTX 5090 • 64GB DDR5-6000 • VKB Gladiator, STECS, T-Rudder • Tobii 5 • ISP 1 Gbps
February 11, 20251 yr AFAIK they haven't switched to all of the new imagery yet. It's still using the same imagery that 2020 is using in some places. Like if you compare LA imagery in the second trailer to what it is in 2024 right now it's not the new stuff. But there is new photogrammetry in several USA countryside areas, the Grand Canyon, Glacier National Park and Yosemite Valley. There may be others, but those are the only ones I know of.
