As far as I understand, this isn't an actual real-world aircraft.

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.

But isn't that a bit of a wink wink nod nod for intellectual property rights reasons, and that it's REALLY a Mirage 2000C?

I mean structurally, systems, etc. it's a Mirage 2000 ?

It's sort of like FSReborn FSR500 - the name is not real but aircraft is

I'm curious how accurate the HUD and autopilot are as they are both critical to how the real world planes is flown.

Yes, that's a very good point. " Inspired by true events" as they say in Hollywood. The sneaky buggers! 😁

Agreed.

I truly don't care about visible weps in MSFS, but this is a step towards a time when it might be worthwhile.

Hopefully we'll get a Combat Flight Simulator again at some point.

You've got to imagine somebody in Redmond has run the numbers on a mass-market competitor to DCS at a slightly more competitive price point. Forget the simulator, you could even take a loss on that, the marketplace transactions alone would be ludicrous.

The weapons section certainly is interesting, if modders can start to utilise ways to include more than just "visible" aspects then that could be a game changer for combat mods and fans, as it'll open up a whole new success to the flight sim.

I've also often wondered if anyone could code A-A laser tech, like what they use in training scenarios to indicate a "kill". i.e. Safe Combat so to speak (I don't know the technical term!), that'd be cool for dog fighting with mates in C172s over the Isle Of Man or wherever!

I'm honestly not sure...

MSFS is a mass-market game, and there is tremendous price pressure for addons, and the lifecycle costs of v2020 must've been horrendous with all the extra free content they included (unprecedented by orders of magnitude).

DCS World addons seem significantly more expensive because the simulator itself is free, and because the DCS addon fidelity level is on par with the best MSFS/XP addons. And because, to an utterly ridiculous degree, there are almost never any re-purchases or upgrade fees, even for modules that were released 10-15 years ago.

E.g., cost of flying top shelf addon in MSFS is roughly $70 for the addon and $70 for the sim, or $140.

Cost of flying top shelf addon in DCSW is roughly $70 for the addon and $0 for the sim...

And there IS a price competitive "Combat Flight Simulator" available in the Il2 Sturmovik: Battle of X series.

It's all a lot more complicated than that, of course, but it would seem a high fidelity air combat simulator isn't destined to become a mass-market success...? I stand to be corrected, but can't but help notice that there's only 2 candidates (can't count Falcon BMS' literally unique situation), and neither have the mind-share that any of the mainstream flight sims have.

Hopefully  ITB will do a review shortly

Anyone get it yet?

I'm tempted but I have no use for military aircraft in MSFS. Unless it will have something similar to VRS TackPack (which I doubt it will)

There’s a video on YouTube of someone letting off a couple of missiles and bombs, the missiles actually looked really good as they snaked away through the sky.
