  2. This is an abomination to the memory of Sublogic and early flight simulator, I suggest a diversion to KCMI.
  3. I have the collector’s edition, I don’t rarely use any of the included aircraft and my collector edition bag tag has been lost or stolen from my flight bag.. So I’d agree with @guenseli and just but the standard and use the money saved to buy some nice additions you’d actually use. I think even the aircraft in the higher editions are available to purchase individually if something catches your eye, without having to purchase the whole edition. I think the upper editions are good value if you’re a more casual simmer and want lots of different aircraft to play with, it’s just they’re not as good as the payware we have access to now. Having said that the default aircraft are probably much better than a lot of payware of yesteryear.
  4. I have the pro desk sim Boeing 787 and 747 throttle mods. Yes they are a big improvement over the standard honeycomb throttles especially with the TOGA switch, however there is quite a lot of flex in the throttle arms so they can rub against each other. The market is in desperate need of some good quality metal or solid plastic Boeing throttles. My hope is now turning towards the GMT meridian throttles which will have optional servo motors.
  5. I did my first virtual flight out of the ini builds EGCC last night using 05L. I was based there in the so called “real world” for about 8 years, it looked very good to me, and the underpass was nicely done too.
  6. I’ve done a fair bit of positioning with my airline on the A350 and usually go up front for a chat and a look around on the ground. It’s one of the things that always hits me when I walk in, is how roomy the flightdeck is.
  7. Yes, it’s a very big flightdeck , much bigger than the 787 or 747, I think the 777 might be slightly bigger than the 787 but the A350 is certainly the biggest of the lot.
  8. This only happens in FAA airspace, either overland or down towards the Caribbean, I’ve never heard anything like it anywhere else in the world.
  9. An interesting discussion for the weekend. When I was growing up with MSFS in the old days I remember it was always a light aircraft simulator. In the early days when airliners started to appear , the general consensus at the time was that they were just the light aircraft simulation with bits bolted onto them to make them appear as airliners and flight sim didn’t cater for their aerodynamics and systems. I know it’s all very different nowadays, sometimes it’s easy to forget just how lucky we are with the level of simulation available. I own quite a few airliners , Fenix, INI A350, PMDG 737,777, JF 146, RJ, F28 etc but rarely fly them. I just don’t have the time and mental capacity to learn all their systems and procedures, which really if you’re going to fly an airliner properly thats what you need to do. You can , and I do, just start on the runway engines running and blast off of course. The sort of flying I do in airliners when I do take them up are engineering or training flights, short hops to somewhere and back , local area to test handling , or just remain in the circuit, not under any circumstances a schedule flight ! One of my , no THE most memorable and pleasant flights of my real world flying life was when we took an empty 747-400 from LHR to Shannon and spent the afternoon doing circuits. Legislation meant we couldn’t use a simulator , so a very expensive day out was planned. I’m also getting a bit put off by flying airliners single crew , I suppose FS2Crew type programs would help. So for me I’m starting to get interested in single pilot business jets, airliner type performance but a realistic single pilot flight deck, and easy to learn systems. In a similar vain I enjoy flying military jets low level around the uk, and I also enjoy doing a bit of gliding, and also flying ultralights around. At the moment the sweet spot seems to be the BS caravan, an aircraft I’ve been inspired to actually fly following the checklists from cold start to shut down, which is something I rarely do in other aircraft. I certainly think MSFS24 offers so much to the light aircraft pilot now, with masts, wires, trees, rocks, streams , ambient bird and insect noise etc, its great to fly in somewhere small, shut down and just relax in VR I should probably add in the real world flying airliners can be fun, it’s the working for an airline thats the PITA bit
  10. I’m sure I used to have a falcon special edition that came with a really nice thick A5 ring binder manual with all the avionics instructions. I’ve not been able to find it for years, it probably got lost moving house or something.
  11. Do you have the Scampton scenery? By IM scenery I believe, quite good for its low price. What did you think of the Jaguar? I bought it over the weekend, only had a very quick run in it but didn’t immediately gel with it. I parked it up and got the Hawk out instead! I put the wing tanks on and went low level from Valley to Fort William and back via the Lake District , quite challenging in yesterday’s heavy rain in Scotland
  12. Ha yes, it used to stand out like the dog’s…. With its white runways. I often fly over it for real when departing SFO for LHR and am always disappointed by it just looking like any other airport in real life.

  14. I enjoy this cub, I like the way you can scale the engine vibration. I have my motion rig and force feedback controls all set to vibrate in sympathy with the engine, it’s very immersive.
  15. That thing is so hard to fly, but in a good way, I love it. It so reminds me of switching from the Cessna to the Learjet in FS 4.0, you’re climbing through 1,000ft but your mind is still sat on the runway. Don’t firewall those throttles!
  16. Given my current ride, a big computer with carbon fibre wings, I’m often tempted to make a video with the title “ REAL flight sim pilot flies PRETEND aircraft”
  17. What I often see are stationary lights that go from nothing to extremely bright, sometimes on their own, other times there can be up to 6. Then if you keep watching they start moving, sometimes on their own, other times in formatted pairs, some go left, some go right, some up, some down, some fast, some slow. I just can’t make that fit with satellite behaviour , which apart from when you see a recently launched train of starlink which follow each other in a line, are just singular dots of light travelling on a constant vector.
  18. Reference to the videos of multiple lights moving around and flashing in space which the angry astronaut has playing in the background while he speaks, which he notes are of modern UAP orbs. Is anyone able to reconcile what we are seeing there with behaviour that could be expected when viewing multiple Starlink satellites darting around amongst themselves? This activity is usually confined to small areas of the night sky, and usually only witnessed in certain geographic locations. To my layman’s understanding if it were indeed starlink it could be expected to be seen all over the night sky and not limited to certain geographic locations? I’d really like to understand this phenomenon , starlink seems to be the standard rational explanation offered but I personally just can’t make that fit

  21. The “Check” is basically short for I’ve checked what you just said is correct , and I concur. If that turns out not to be the case it’s as Stearmandriver says, back to plain English….no,…negative..it’s not,..mines reading …,etc. Between them the crew will then gain an understanding of the discrepancy and then if appropriate go on to rectify it. Also if you get no response when you’re expecting a “ check” back eg “80kts“ it’s a warning sign of possible subtle pilot incapacitation.
  22. The ex RAF Tristar guys I fly with tell me before budgetary constraints hit the armed forces they could just casually book out a tristar for an afternoon in the pattern. I’m surprised to see it do a touch and go after the spoilers had deployed though, perhaps not so much with spoilers but certainly once reverse has been deployed you’re committed to landing, just in case the reverser doesn’t stow.
  23. Unfortunately my son had his friend over to stay last night who’s a keen flight simmer. Without realising the date related potential for mischief I read this out to him this morning over breakfast as he was telling me he was still using 2020. You’ve probably just made a 14 year old lad go home and cry, I hope you’re proud of yourself 🤣🤣
  24. I’m leaning more and more towards just buying aircraft which are single pilot certified now. Airliners are too complicated to learn and operate on my own when I just want to be up flying. Im also enjoying the H jet plus military single seaters and the black square aircraft , its so much more realistic to me , but each to their own of course.
