From what I’ve read in this forum I doubt it.

What’s the fps inside with the VC showing? Lower I’m guessing.

With the ASOBO EGLL on 4K with almost everything on ultra + AI Traffic, I get around 30fps:

RDr9zrn.jpg

On cruise, 50-60fps. That is with a heavily undervolted GPU.

Can’t wait to try DLSS with MSFS. Great times!

As you are clearly CPU limited in this EGLL scenario, DLSS wont do magic for you...

Indeed that this is not the best scenario to enjoy the benefits from DLSS, but at 50% CPU usage, not totally sure I agree with the bottleneck suggestion, even though the GPU usage is a somewhat low. The stutters caused by the screenshot tool may also be playing a role here.

50% CPU usage

Just because your overall CPU usage is only 50% does not mean that one core of that is pegged at 90-100%. You need to look at each core individually, and not as an overall percentage.

Also, if you're CPU limited now, DLSS wont make a major difference at all.

I run a 3090 at 4k and native render scale of 100, and at large cities and traffic etc, you're CPU limited. Thats just the way it is. Reduce your TLOD down to 100 and you can become GPU limited 60% of the time, but there are still flashes over to cpu limited.

I almost never fly into these huge hubs and generally my GPU usage is quite high (85%+), so for sure DLSS will be useful.

Besides, my TLOD is already at 100 and I do use HWinfo to check core usage. I don’t recall ever seeing only one core at 90-100%, something that was pretty common in P3D. I’ll keep my eyes open, though.

I'm glad I upgraded to the

 i712700k,

Asus maximus hero z690

64 gigs ddr 5

Galax 3080ti

It was expensive but I kept waiting and waiting for the next best thing and it does become frustrating

At 4k 100 rendering scale on ultra I have seen the settings go from low 30 to high 50 and with some tweeking have virtually the same visuals and up around high 80 average at times, I mostly fly the c172 around the gold coast Australia,

definitely a worthy improvement but with current technology it's still possible to bring your PC to it's knees in msfs. If I lock the fps at 30 with vsnch on the sim is incredibly smooth now

Good thread for me.  Talk about old... I see all these model numbers so foreign to me as I am running an i7-2700K at 4.8GHz. with a 1080!  What... 10 years old now?

So I am "spec'n" out finally a whole new system.  The more I read the more questions one has, ha!  I know I'll get the 3080 Ti but matching up to the right CPU... i7-12700K or a i9-12900KF?  DDR4 or DDR5?  I'm budgeting around $3500-4000.  Initial thoughts?  It will initially be on a 27" 1440 display (2 1080s on each side of it right now), that will eventually be 3-27" 1440's for a wrap-around.  Guess that would mean I would eventually be a 6K display?!?!  😵

Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!)  Windows 10, (hold off for now on Win11),  EVGA 1300W PSU
Netgear 1Gbps modem & router, (3) 27" 1440 wrap-around displays
Full array of Bravo, Saitek and GoFlight hardware for the cockpit

When you realize finally what an i7 4790k + GTX 1080 can do on each of my flight. You have understood everything...

I will repeat over and over again ...  Vsync MSFS "on" 30fps is the solution.

MSFS has always been smooth as silk in my case.

I also use NVIDIA freestyle for visuals and I'm happy to stop thinking about fps

I only spend my time flying.

I'd say 12700K.  As for DDR4 or DDR5...that is the question.  A few months ago I did quick research and didn't like what I saw with the DDR5 modules.  But that was then.  It could be that we're starting to see better DDR5 modules become available.  I expected that to happen by mid-year.

One thing to look at for the cpu would be the P cores vs. E cores on this gen of chips.  I /think/ the 8P core + 4E core 12700K would be ideal for sim as the 8P+8E core 12900KF would seem to help multithreading more -- but this is something you will want to research and I really haven't...not too much anyway.  It would be a good other thread Clutch_Cargo.

Yes I have the same card, like the OP of this thread I upgraded from a GTX 1080. You will be pleased (I suppose, I don't know what your current card is), I am currently parked at FlyTampa YSSY, with ORBX Sydney, and am hovering around 45 fps with AIG traffic.

With all that said however I am only in the Cessna, not the PMDG 737 that I will be in on Tuesday Australian time. My only real concern has been keeping an eye on GPU temps, at the moment they're in the low 60 degrees celsius.

EDIT: The MSI RTX 3080TI Ventus 3X 12G OC has no RGB, in case that was a factor.

totally correct, the good thing about upgrading is that you can turn more stuff up and still have it buttery smooth, i was not sure how to reply without the picture, have not worked that out yet lol

So, I have re-done the test at EGLL using better monitoring tools:

N0k6AO6.jpg

tpvaasH.jpg

Average 44% core usage, with Core 5 T1 being hitted the hardest at around 65%. GPU usage between 70-80%.

On the other hand, reducing the render scale did not boost FPS that much (from 35 to about 40 @ 75%), so it is correct that DLSS won't do much on this particular scenario.

For sure the CPU is working harder in such complex airports, but there seem to be still some headroom left both on the CPU and GPU. Not totally sure what is going on here...

As others said and wrote: due to fast thread shuffling, it is near impossible to conclude anything significant out of CPU usage numbers. What is relevant is the fact that your GPU usage is way below 90%, indicating the clear cut CPU limit. Proof you already did yourselves with the render scale test. I would always put the settings as such that you have around 90-100% GPU load, then you avoid those nasty CPU lag spikes at best. There is also NO drawback with near 100% GPU load in contrast to what many people believe. It is not like CPU or other hardware, where 100% load results in a stutterfest, running the GPU at 100% might only be an "issue" when temps are critical or you want to reduce power consumption. But for this, external tools to limit FPS and/or reducing PT, voltage etc. is the way to go. Reducing settings to avoid high GPU load is simply wasting the ressources you have...
